If so, how did they react?

'Shouting and sarcasm and sneering are definately involved in emotional abuse'
Absolutely right hole. He sounds like a truly disgusting person. I'm so sorry for what you went through.

An ex flatmate of mine was regularly violently attacked by her boyfriend - spat at, dragged around the floor by her hair, that sort of thing. When she called him out for being violent, he absolutely would not have it because he had never once punched her in the face. That, to him, was violence - everything else he had done was...... what? Who the hell knows. There's no end to the excuses and self-delusion apparently, even from a violent thug. It would be funny if it wasn't so downright dangerous and scary.

The sad thing is biblio that as much as I believe in the white ribbon campaign, I had to throw the one he bought me away. All I see in it is my abuser. Sad

I got "you knew what I was like when we got together, and I'm not changing". Err, actually, when we got together, you were utterly, utterly charming, if rather controlling from the outset.

Oh I forgot about my terrible driving, and the night it was so bad that he had to take over and drive home, despite being drunk as a skunk and I refused to be in car with him so after 2/3 attempts at getting me in the passenger side he drove Off and left me to walk/run the +5 miles back to our house and then wouldn't open the door as I obviously had got a lift of someone else as I was Home too fast to have walked it and needed to learn my lesson by being locked out for another hour !Sad

I think you were entitled to find that ribbon tainted, nini.
