What do you make of these birthday gifts?

I have been seeing a guy for a couple of months. It is my birthday today but I saw him last night. We had a lovely evening etc etc.

My bday presents are: an aromatherapy associates candle and bath oils gift set, a rampant rabbit, crotchless knickers and a "Booty Bundle

I think he is slightly offended by the fact that I laughed so much I cried.

I do feel a bit meh he forgot a card.

Really what are your thoughts on these gifts?

Do clear your cookies though Walk else you'll get Adsense type things popping up advertising more items they think you may enjoyBlush

Happy Birthday, OP! I reckon the candles and oils were to butter you up a bit before whipping out the Booty BundleGrin

LittlePeaPod · 28/06/2014 00:44

Op I am so sorry but I am PMSL. Grin That's funny. In answer to your question.. No, not appropriate at all. I think its odd and if I were you I would be running for the hills..

gingercat2 · 28/06/2014 04:21

They indicate he only sees you as a sex partner not as future relationship material :(

maras2 · 28/06/2014 04:37

Just looked at that Booty Bundle.WTAF is bath douche? Oh, the entire birthday pressie was inappropriate and a bit creepy.

FishWithABicycle · 28/06/2014 06:45

yuck. what a creepy, nasty attitude this man must have. definitely a gift for him not you and utterly inappropriate this early in a relationship unless specifically at the request of the recipient. he'd be straight to dumpsville with not much deep and meaningful convo first if this was me.

Cabrinha · 28/06/2014 08:21

OMG - dump!

Candles and bath oils are the most boring, lack of effort and thought present imaginable!

I do think that btw... but seriously, 3 sex toy presents is OTT but only you know if too much for your relationship.

The Booty Bundle is a big no from me - but you have done anal with him. Which concerns me a but when you say it's not your favourite thing. I'm all for doing stuff for your partner, and sometimes it's your best thing, sometimes it's theirs. But that does rather sound like you don't like it - so why have you done it?

Lifeisforlivingkatie · 28/06/2014 08:27

Sounds old school, but good old fashioned dating in the first few weeks sorts the wheat from the chaff. I would not be impressed with such a gift, so early on. If he needs toys and anal (not my scene at all) in 2 months, what will guys be doing to spice things up a few years down the line?

QuailLegs · 28/06/2014 13:19

I'd run a mile - those are just presents for him.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 28/06/2014 13:39

Just because you'rve done anal does not mean you would be into butt plugs, Thai beads or douching. I'm ok with occasional bumsex but if someone gave me that kit before asking me whether I'd actually be up for trying it or enjoyed it I'd be really fucked off. Talk about presumptuous. Crotchless knickers are never a gift for the woman are they?
I love a good candle though so I'd keep that one. The rest he can keep.

Egghead68 · 28/06/2014 21:19

Bin

HecatePropylaea · 28/06/2014 21:25

who gets someone a vibrator , a bundle of butt plugs and crotchless knickers after dating for 2 months?

and what woman ever in the history of underwear availability has gone oh, I'll wear the crotchless ones today, they're just so comfy and practical. Hmm

no. There's no gift for you there. You are a gift for him. he's gone

I want to see her use this
While wearing these
before I get her to shove these up me

but oh, is she going to think I'm a pervert? better get her some smelly bath shit too. That'll fool her and make her think it's all so romantic.

good grief.

BitOutOfPractice · 28/06/2014 21:50

While I appreciate that it's tricky buying a present at this stage of the relationship, he has got it wrong so wrong.

Let me tell yu what my DP did when it was my birthday 2 months into ur relationship. I oopened the presents in bed with him. He got me a very pretty ring - not expensive but really pretty - a bottle of fizz, and put a bow round his dick as a joke - which made me laugh like a drain. There was also a card which he'd made himself. I thought he struck just the right balance between personal but not to personal, saucy but not vulgar, and spent just thr right amount of money whilst being really thoughful.

If he'd given me what your BF gave you, I would NOT have been amused!

Bogeyface · 28/06/2014 21:58

Totally agree that he bought those for him not you.

I suggest you buy him a nice dress for his birthday Wink

Seriously though. A few too many red flags there for my liking. You are not keen on anal but he buys you a butt plug, you have never used or discussed using toys but he buys you a rabbit and although you thought it was a romance, he buys you crotchless knickers.

He is heavily into porn and views women as a collection of holes that he can stuff things into. Just guessing but I would be the mortgage money that I am right.

I would dump him without the chat tbh.

Wowbirthdaygirl · 28/06/2014 22:20

Well, on the plus side I got wished Happy Birthday by EllenMumsnet!

I've just opened the booty bundle link. Thank Christ I restrained myself from looking at it when I first read the thread in work!!!!!

Glastokitty · 29/06/2014 02:50

I would have shoved the booty bundle up his arse. Grin

GenuinelyMaryMacguire · 29/06/2014 06:36

I think the gifts are horrible, frankly.
Clearly he sees you as nothing other than a series of holes.
Wrap them up, post them to him with a one-word note - 'Goodbye'.
