Cow?
DP has been diagnosed with Bells Palsy, which means half his face is temporarily paralysed, he has spent most of the time since finding out asleep (he found out Saturday!!). However, it is not with me he is alseep, but at his mothers. He has gone again tonight and I have been left to look after ds1 and ds2, dog and kitten. Should I encourage him to stay at his mothers or should he deal with it here. The reason I am so pissed off with him is because several months ago I had to have an operation, which I was in hospital overnight, when I cam home DP announced he was going back to work and I had to deal with ds's. Sorry turning into a real rant!!!!

God - I hope this bloke never gets anything actually serious wrong with him, you will never see him again!

Molesworth · 15/08/2006 09:37

Agree with everyone else - can't see any reason for him to be at his mother's! At the same time, I don't know how badly his face has been affected, but if he's anything like my sister when she had it, he'll be looking like he's had a stroke. It's pretty traumatic to wake up one morning with a facial disfigurement - sis had to have one eye taped shut because she couldn't blink, eating and drinking was very difficult too. It took many many months for her face to start looking "normal" again, and even now, a few years later, I can see the remnants of it. So I do think he is deserving of sympathy, but all this running to mummy is ridiculous. My sister didn't miss a day of work let alone take to her bed!

proudofmyboobs · 15/08/2006 09:59

Yeah, but, if it was the fact that he didn't want his kids to see him like that then he wouldn't have been home for dinner etc! I'd love to go to my mums and curl up in my big bed and have a sleep, nut only bring tired doesn't qualify me for that

I hope he comes home soon Jazzi

Ha ha ha - welcome to Mumsnet Jazzi's dh!

HappyDaddy · 15/08/2006 11:52

He'll be moaning to his mum now, "she's talking to strangers about me, they all hate me, waaaaaaaaaah".

Piffle · 15/08/2006 11:55

This is why women have the children
If it was down to men the human race would have died millenia ago
Or we'd all be born morphine addicts due to them self medicating through an entire pregnancy.
MY BIL got Bells Palsy from a rugby game, he was diagnosed at half time and went back to play. Get up get on with it ffs

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/08/2006 11:59

I think he probably already was moaning to his mum HD!

HappyDaddy · 15/08/2006 12:00

Oh yes but now he'll be in overdrive. Mum will be telling him, "she doesn't deserve you, angel" while she pats his brow. [rolls eyes]

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/08/2006 12:01

Whilst she irons his pants?

Well I might be being a complete cow here as well but this strikes me as being less about his affliction than about a convenient excuse to go and get totally spoilt by his mum (and duck out of childcare etc).

I'm annoyed with his mum ...... she should tell him where his responsibilities now lie, and that is not making her feel "useful".

If he was at home, I'm sure he'd get a modicom of sympathy from you all anyway wouldn't he ..... and the odd bit of storytelling, nappy changing or washing up isn't going to affect his receovery rate.

Jazzi · 15/08/2006 16:42

Dp is still not speaking to me, but he has been here most of the day. ds1 and I went to the cinema whilst dp and ds2 slept!!!

Can you tell him that all the "old broilers" have said "GROW UP YOU BIG GIRLS BLOUSE".

Jazzi · 15/08/2006 16:53

Probably not a good idea at the moment as he is in a right strop!!!
