Feeling invisible .....wave at a mate!

Reprint · 22/10/2013 20:31

Following on from Trish's good idea (and by request) this thread is the place to play 'bag a buddy' 'wave at a mate' or 'grab someone else's grip for a minute'

The original idea from the invisble thread was that it would be a brilliant idea if people had a friend they could pair up with ....just so someone is going to wave at you when you feel down.
It needed a thread.
This is it .....................

It is about the little things, isn't it, Hester. Someone here once said I was nice - obviously doesn't know me AT all, but it cheered me up for positively ages.

Harold DS1 ate like a dream when he was a toddler, DS2 was as fussy as anything.

Now DS1(18) moans about stews, casseroles and homemade soup (the war is over mother, did you not get the memo? He says) and lots of other meals, DS2 eats everything put in front of him!

This, too, will pass!Flowers

I had one who wouldn't eat H
Used to worry me to death! the HV told me no baby will starve itself (do you think HV's learn that line in training?) so I tried just going with the flow ....but when they had eaten just 1 1/2 weetabix in 3 days, I decided that I would go with my instinct.
I opted to fight only one battle a day .... if breakfast was eaten, I didn;t worry about other meals but if we got to dinner and nothing had really gone it all day then we locked horns until it did.

Probably not cheering to tell you that it went on for 6 years and didn't actually change until we moved continents and the milk tasted different so was no longer acceptable as a drink!!

Hello, I lurked on the invisible thread, i used to post, lurk back in the day 6yrs or so ago and recently rediscovered MN, I had to stop using the net when I was last pregnant cause I had pregnancy induced motion sickness and scrolling made me sick Sad and never got back in the habit addiction
Anyway would love to reconnect with people again

Catacombmint · 24/10/2013 19:13

Waves at weirdbird. Hello!

Evening all. I had a much better day today, achieved by being in a different city from my line manager who was horrible yesterday.

Now I am off for a week! Grin

HaroldAnyLloydFUCKER · 24/10/2013 19:13

Welcome weirdbird! How long did you manage to stay off the Internet?

That's very admirable!

Hello weirdbird. Welcome back to Tinterwebs.

How did you manage to stay off? I think I'm genuinely addicted! :o

Catacombmint · 24/10/2013 19:17

Thanks for the AF update, Reprint.

Can you imagine how odd it will feel for her to read all those threads and messages when she comes back?

SpottyDottie · 24/10/2013 19:18

I remember when I first me DH, he's in IT, and I positively scoffed at him 'Oh I'll have no use for the internet!'

me DH should read My DH. Grin

weirdbird · 24/10/2013 19:19

I still read my email and used the net ibriefly but with MN you need to scroll such a lot it just made me feel too ill.
Tis easy to stop a habit when every time you do it you feel sick and makes the room spin!

I used to be one quite a few forums ands the only one I really went back to was live journal, as a lot of my friends had accounts and I would keep up with them there.

weirdbird · 24/10/2013 19:21

To be on not one, doh!

Catacombmint · 24/10/2013 19:22

Thanks Hump. I completely agree!

weirdbird · 24/10/2013 19:24

Weird bird was my nickname in one of my first jobs, I hung out with IT guys as my job intersected with theirs a lot, I was very into cars, computers, liked my football. They forgot I was a girl, one day I made a comment about something, and got told you really are a weird bird aren't you, and the nickname stuck. Only really use it online now.

weirdbird · 24/10/2013 19:25

You could probably stalk me online now, but most people don't know the name is me, so, hey ho

What not is a great ending when you don't know what else to add Grin

weirdbird · 24/10/2013 19:30

I work remotely part of the week as well catacomb and humpday I much prefer the mix, makes me enjoy being in the office more when I can get away from it.

weirdbird · 24/10/2013 19:30

I killed the thread....

Catacombmint · 24/10/2013 19:32

You didn't!

Catacombmint · 24/10/2013 19:34

I work in a lovely office, but our head office is in London & I have to go there about once a week. I also manage staff on a different site to me. I'm not keen on that.

But no matter cos now I am off!

I will be able to do day time waving! Smile

( weirdbird ... you absolutely didn't kill the thread Smile
...and please don't feel invisible because we were out in the playground when you posted!

I work from home unless I am travelling to see clients, which is great, but can be a bit isolated sometimes. MN offers me a bit of sanity contact escape light relief

Like Humpday I went AWOL because I got distracted by some developments from AF-gate and it takes me a while to type longish posts
