PUBES!!

So been having a discussion with dp about pubes. I have a Hollywood monthly, everything off. My choice, I hate having pubes but he admits to preferring me being without for oral sex. So over dinner we were discussing our days and I said "oh I went for my wax after work" to which he replied "imagine if I was bald there too". Jokingly thank god but I practically choked on my pasta. Do men really do the sack, back n crack?!

I used to get asked for it when I was a beautician, but seems to look a bit unnatural to me, as if they aren't adult.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 28/02/2013 19:43

Um, yus.

No idea why though, those hairs are there for a reason.

ParsleyTheLioness · 28/02/2013 19:45

That's how I feel about mine Chaos Grin

GoSuckEggs · 28/02/2013 19:51

yep. My DH has it off, although it is just his balls and pubes. his bum is not hairy.

TwllBach · 28/02/2013 19:54

Right, stupid question alert....

What are they there for? Obviously there is a biological reason for them - is it for warmth????

puds11isNAUGHTYnotNAICE · 28/02/2013 19:58

Its to catch dirt and stop it from entering your fanjo Twll

puds11isNAUGHTYnotNAICE · 28/02/2013 19:58

Kinda like nose hair if you will Grin

ZolaBuddleia · 28/02/2013 19:59

Surely it's really sore for a chap to get his scrotum waxed, all that loose skin? Shock

ChaosTrulyReigns · 28/02/2013 20:00

And to prevent friction.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/02/2013 20:08

Oooh a pubes thread Grin

It's no more (or less) weird for blokes to remove them than it is for women.

I don't think it is to catch dirt or there would be no reason for children not to have pubes and no reason for them to thin out considerably in old age. From everything I have read, I think they are there to signal sexual maturity and to trap pheromones and more obvious sexual scents. That's why, like it or not, if you remove them it will always remind some people of prepubescence.

There are however hygiene implications to removing pubes because there is no method of removal that doesn't damage the skin and allow bacteria to enter.

Balls deffo require shaving, if that's what floats your boat............waxing NOT a good idea on yer sack.........

Think lots of pulling taut and very careful razor work. Grin

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/02/2013 20:35

Is it time to link to the classic Amazon review for Veet for Men? Grin

Midwife99 · 28/02/2013 20:38

Pubes are to protect your pubic bone & also to "catch" pheromones - ie sexy smells. We feel cleaner with no pubes but actually we smell sexier with them!! Grin

I have a professional interest in male and female waxing so am always on the alert for what people think about this subject.

A lot of men wax their bits. I actually attended a seminar for beauticians which was intended to teach them how to wax a man's genitals. Live model - professional waxer (waxologist!) doing the demo with a camera showing the whole thing live on a big screen.

The male model was great. He had his whole bits waxed in front of all of us. The most painful part for him was on his 'mound' - ie., under his belly and above his cock. The balls bit seemed a doddle. The waxer stretched his scrotum skin out so that it was taut and it was pretty straightforward.

I did Blush a bit when he got on all fours and had his crack waxed but that part didn't seem to bother him either.

Personally, I think he looked awful afterwards. I prefer a man to look like a man, but hey ho, it's a personal thing. Sweaty bald balls do nothing for me Grin.

My interest is in pain management, btw.

TwllBach · 28/02/2013 20:47

The catching pheromones thing makes sense, thankyou Grin

Fairypants · 28/02/2013 20:54

Plenty- that link is fantastic!!

Midwife99 · 28/02/2013 20:56

I actually feel quite nauseous at the sight of a completely hairless man. Yuk!!!!

Thisisaeuphemism · 28/02/2013 21:01

I find it funny that you find the idea of a man waxing it all off funny yet you do it...

Insecure24 · 28/02/2013 21:01

Me too midwife!

I asked my beautician did she have many male clients for the back, sack and crack. I assumed it may be a gay man grooming thing.

She told me her best male customer was in fact a big red-headed straight builder! He had really thick wiry hair and sweat a lot and the hair really irritated him.

That was an interesting and amusing conversation :)

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/02/2013 21:05

But you don't feel the same about removing your own pubes OP? Why is that?

I don't wax mine off! I trim round the edges & neaten it up. I don't like the whole Hollywood bit. Too porn star (or prepubescent girl) for me!!
