I think that dad's blog is cruel

The one who said his firstborn is his favourite. Sad

He needs a brain rinse. His second born will feel crap when he's old enough to find out. Even if the dad protests that he was stupid it won't turn the clock back.

We all worry after our first, that consecutive dcs won't be loved as much. But we do love them just as much, sometimes differently. We may not always like some of dcs behaviour but they're our dcs and we stick by them. Even if someone did favour one to blog about it is ridiculous.

I despair at society today. And the internet is blamed for a lot of silly adults sharing their pathetic thoughts. But is it? They choose to do this. I've been guilty of writing crap on here but I'd never say something so damaging about my own dcs. He could've come on mums/dadsnet or similar and done it secretly?

He's so selfish that he's working out his issues by creating more issues for his son.

I love both my children equally and like the equally. However sometimes when DD is throwing a horrible tantrum I think that DS is easier in that moment. Likewise when DS is grumpy and won't sleep I think DD is easier. They are 3 and 6 months.

My sister always thought I was the favourite, whereas I felt the reverse. I was treated much harder than her during school as my mum felt I was just like her; lazy, unacademic, unambitious. Whereas she knew my sister would put in the study. As a result Dsis felt like she got far less attention and I felt that mum couldn't possibly like me as it was quite obvious she didn't like herself, and I was apparently just like her.

MIL has 5 kids of all different ages and likes 4 of them in different ways, but quite clearly does not like (and probably does not love) her middle child, her second son. Its obvious to everyone and sadly BIL (14) is steadily going off the rails as MIL just doesn't have it in her to parent him. The bond is not there and she has done nothing in 14 years to try to improve their relationship.

I think that this dad is being very selfish in broadcasting that he has a favourite.

What that knobend of a man doesn't even seem to realise is that he simply likes older children better than babies, and he wouldn't even have noticed this if he'd only had the one DC. And, of course, as his DS2 gets bigger, he will probably love him just as much, and feel a raving arsehole when he remembers that blogpost. Which hopefully will have disappeared into the depths of the Interweb and been forgotten about by the time his sons are old enough to read such things...

Also who has favourites on the basis of which one can participate in your hobby? On that basis both of my children are absolute rubbish as they are equally useless at lying on the sofa watching Homes Under the Hammer.

The guy doesn't understand what it is to be a parent.

Little I feel so sad for your BIL, that's awful. Do you have him over to your place a lot? I think I'd steal him. Dp says if we had the cash and a big enough house it'd be so full of dcs and dogs we wouldn't be able to move. Dcs I'd foster and steal though not give birth too Wink Too old for that. I'd love to foster and hopefully will do once dcs have left home? Although dp isn't for it but he'd have to lump it Wink

Well I'm going to hold my hands up and say I do have a favourite child. If I'm honest with myself I just prefer one child's personality to the other's.

I would however never ever let my children know this.

This supports my long held belief that all blogs are the work of the (self centred) Devil.

Is it too early to invite his young son over to the stately homes thread?

The man is an arse.
