What would you think if new man said this in a text?

Say you've been seeing someone for a few weeks. He works in public services, responsible job etc, everytime you've met him he's been well mannered, polite, funny etc. You send him a text tonight asking "what time do you want to meet on Wednesday?" and he replies with "Whatever time you're free :-) just let me know and I'll be all over it like a fucking hurricane x"

I don't know what to think because that just doesn't sound like him at all.

@LordLucas, if he wants a long-term relationship with you he wudn't have texted that. Sorry for being so blunt. He is neither geeky nor stupid. Men know what they are doing. If he sees you as a long term prospect he would watch what he is saying & not offend u in any way. To show his honorable interest, he wud try to woo u with romantic gestures, not sleazy texts. He is just testing u to see ur response & if u wud be ok with just flirting & short-term hookups. Why buy the cow when u can get milk for free.
Run!!! Plenty of fish in the sea. Have high standards & some basic dating rules (that only u know about). If someone doesn't live up to them there is nothing but disappointment in future. Trust ur instincts & if something doesn't feel right to u, move on.

I totally disagree with anjaii what a load of bollocks.

Me and dh hated each other on sight, then when we did start talking it wasnt pleasant.

Just because a man swears doesnt mean hes not interested.
Simiarly a man who romances and 'woos' you is not always mr right

mosschops30 · 14/09/2011 20:48

Oh and i dont find it inappropriate, agree it sounds like hes horny for you, maybe trying to be funny and current with the hurricane comment.
He sounds like a squaddie, or northern? Is he?

HotBurrito1 · 14/09/2011 20:49

Agree with mosschops, that wasn't remotely sleazy in my view.

DaydreamDolly · 14/09/2011 20:49

anjali really? The 'all over it' part is a saying, it means, I am really keen! He's asking her to give him a time that suits her, and basically he will be eagerly anticipating seeing her! There's nothing sleazy in that at all, whatsoever!
For instance, friend says to friend 'still on for the pub tonight?' other friend replies 'I'm all over it like a cheap suit' Meaning 'yes I can't wait'
It's supposed to be funny. He was obviously in a playful mood, I really wouldn't let this put you off.

DaydreamDolly · 14/09/2011 20:50

Oh, x posted with Mosschops who said it much better Grin

I think I'd run a mile from the kind of man Anjali'd like!

Op, I'd have laughed too.

dawnofthedumb · 14/09/2011 21:43

Completely disagree with anjali!

At worst it's a bit OTT, but actually I think it's kinda funny; made me laugh anyway! I don't think it's even a case of being 'horny' - 'I'm all over it' isn't that unusual a saying, is it? It just means 'I'm keen, I'm up for it' etc, no? He sounds like quite a laugh actually...

Anyway, it's Weds night - how did it go? Grin

GloriaVanderbilt · 15/09/2011 07:41

it's the use of 'fucking' that differentiates it from the suit comment.

I agree that if a man wants to impress you he won't swear. He'll be really watching his words especially if he's never heard you swear.

It would surprise me to read something so obscene and I'd probably give him a Hmm at least next time I saw him
