What would you think if new man said this in a text?

Say you've been seeing someone for a few weeks. He works in public services, responsible job etc, everytime you've met him he's been well mannered, polite, funny etc. You send him a text tonight asking "what time do you want to meet on Wednesday?" and he replies with "Whatever time you're free :-) just let me know and I'll be all over it like a fucking hurricane x"

I don't know what to think because that just doesn't sound like him at all.

Agree with AF (when ARE we going to get an emoticon to save us typing that all the time!)

So long as you don't get sent 'roses are red, violets are blue, I've got a large one and it's going in you' - you're fine.

That's the sort of standard experienced by yours truly for texts during the early days, and reader...........I went out with him for 10....yes 10 years.

Should have heeded my misgivings at the text receipt stage really :)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 12/09/2011 00:24

Er yes Bibi you MADWOMAN, I can't believe you stuck around for a decade of shite poetry and (by the sounds of it) shite sex too :o

garlicbutty · 12/09/2011 00:29

To be fair, Bibi, I would have thought that was a joke ...

BibiBlocksberg · 12/09/2011 00:31

You're ALIVE - AAAALLIIVVEE-

I swear I haven't seen you since Christmas 2010 Elephants!!! How lovely to know you're still treading these boards Grin

Yup, decade of shite which started with shite texts - shan't say any more than that lest I put the OP off :)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 12/09/2011 00:36

Have PMed you Bibi :)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 12/09/2011 00:38

Oh and whilst I'm here OP, I wouldn't worry about it. He is probably either drunk or having a silly chat with some friends and is just transferring that style to your texts. I think he sounds quite sweet/keen, but then I love a bit of swearing.

Hope you enjoy your Force 12 date :o

NorkyPies · 12/09/2011 00:57

I wouldn't like it, it's disrespectful. Having to give him the benefit of doubt already, if you let it pass.

HairyGrotter · 12/09/2011 07:19

I would laugh, I say 'I'm on it like a tramp on chips' so I might nick the hurricane one.

It's a text, reading too much into it is only going to cause grief.

scaredofhistemper · 12/09/2011 08:37

'All over it' is just a saying.... and it means very keen!! Grin

If you like him, you are sooo in there Wink

Pagwatch · 12/09/2011 08:42

It would make me laugh and I am a total pearl clutcher

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 12/09/2011 08:46

What Pag said.

You are so in there Grin

BluMoon · 12/09/2011 08:56

I laughed when I read it Grin but then I like a bit of rough talk Wink

BluMoon · 12/09/2011 08:56

BTW also agree with some of the other comments, sounds like he's just feeling more comfortable now which is good. I certainly don't think that what he said was malicious or disrespectful.

Fatshionista · 12/09/2011 08:58

I agree with MilkandWine. It sounds like he was trying to be cool and funny but it just didn't work.

I'd give him another chance. Texts are an odd thing at the best of times. See what he's like the next time you meet him.

confusedpixie · 12/09/2011 09:05

I laughed, I also took that to mean he'd be there bang on time :)

verytellytubby · 12/09/2011 17:25

I laughed.

Haberdashery · 12/09/2011 17:37

I laughed. He sounds really keen, which presumably is a good thing?

knitknack · 12/09/2011 18:23

I would read the 'it' as the date, not as 'you'! It sounds like he's really, really keen on you! But doesn't write the most brilliant texts...

feckymcfeckedoff · 12/09/2011 19:03

Also we are experiencing a hurricane just now, or the edge of it so maybe he thought he was being topical...

MrsGaff · 12/09/2011 19:50

Topical and witty, he's a keeper!

ZhenXiang · 12/09/2011 19:59

To me it says he likes you, he is horny (for you), he has a sense of humour and he probably spends a lot of time talking to blokes during his day or is around his mates (hence the addition of unnecessary swearing).

Nothing to worry about unless that becomes his ususal style of communication :)

wannabefree · 12/09/2011 21:28

I read the 'it' to mean 'you', as in 'all over that ass', like they say in crappy, demeaning rap songs. I can understand why you were a bit taken aback.

I could be wrong obviously.

SuePurblybilt · 12/09/2011 21:32

I bet he's heard it somewhere recently and is repeating it but getting the context a little skewy. I wouldn't worry.

GloriaVanderbilt · 14/09/2011 10:26

it would shock me

bit odd

shesgotherlipstickon · 14/09/2011 10:30

I laughed. He sounds keen. He also sounds like the nice but a bit geeky guy, who nicked something his friends have said. So maybe used it a bit too soon. Thinking cool.

I'd have laughed and still carried on.
