Do you consider your dh/partner to be your best friend?

Sometimes I feel a bit weird that I do. Apart from my mum he is the only person I know who doesn't get on my nerves after a while.

I have female friends - coffee, lunches, nights out - but no one that I could say oh my best friend is x,y,z

Is this weird? Is your oh your best friend or am I in a minority?

Just curious

My DP is my best friend and vice versa. We both have a lot of friends, most of which have become mutual friends over time, but we agree that we love spending time with each other more than anyone else. We have shared interests (we are both triathletes and take part in sport) and maintain a 'healthy' level of competitiveness along with absolute support for one another.

However, we try and spend a healthy amount of time doing our own thing (him golf, me riding) and spend time seeing our own friends, but pathetically agree that we sometimes find it hard as we love being with each other so much Blush .

DP loves good conversation, but is also happy (and v willing!) to chat pointless trivia. However, he draws then line at 'chick flicks'. (Then again so do I, but if I am ever overcome by an urge to watch a romcom, that's what my girlfriends are for Smile )

no, i love DP more than life itself but ive had the same best friend for 10 and a half yrs - we've been thru teenage crushes fancying jack ryder and declan donelly to getting our first houses/jobs nights out to meeting the men we are with having our first kids with a hell of a lot of bad stuff inbetween. the history we have is incomparable to what we have with our lovely fellas.

luckily they dont seem to mind our 3 hour phone calls about rabby lemmings and muslim bananas and labour and itchy fanjos and all sorts i think they are happy to not have to hear it themselves haha!! Grin

100% my best friend. I trust him with my life, I can talk to him about whatever I want and I just love spending time with him. We have been together since I was still at school, so getting on for 35 years now. In all those years, I would estimate that there have only been about 60 days when we haven't spent time together and I know there have only been 12 days when we haven't at least spoken on the phone. There is no-one I would rather spend time with than him.He just 'gets me' in a way that nobody else ever has.

Yes. He definitely is my best friend. I don't have a girl best friend, only "mates" We clicked instantly when we met and have not been apart much ever since. I wouldn't like to have a separate social life from him and neither would he. We do occasionally go for coffees/ down the pub with separate mates but that's about it. I never felt the need to spend time away from him.

Although this might drastically change as we're getting older and perhaps having kids!
