weirdo peering through cat flap!

OMG! the strangest things has happened!

My kitchen door is down the side of my house, you have to go past thorns and squish through the gap by the car, and you have to go past a heavy gate to get to the kitchen door, it is not somewhere I have ever had anyone knock on before.

There had been a lot of banging at the cat flap just before, having two cats it was still quite a bit of bashing going on.

I was sitting down on the phone, which i put down, with my kids watching tv minding our own business, I am a long parent and have had an abusive exp.

There was a terrifying sound of someone banging on windows, I could not tell where it was from. I looked out the front door peep hole and could not see anyone, have a really good 180 degree one! I was shaking and very scared, it was so strange. Then another bang, i left it, I was thinking of ringing the police. Eventually I got a large object in my hand and braved moving the curtain to see who was there, it was a weird woman who I have never seen before who looked as if she was roughly dressed, I was so stunned I did nothing then closed the curtain, I was no way going to open the door to her.

Then I looked out spy hole, nothing, and called out I am calling the police, I had the phone in my hand, she came around, squishing through the tiny gap by car and geting her clothes torn on thorns, saying she was a neighbour, I have never seen her before!

I kept saying I find her strange.

She then went on about why would my cat go to her house, stating it was in her house all the time, what does the cat not want to go homve for, do I feed it etc... I said yes I feed it and it is here lots. I would then add this is all so strange. She then went on about a guy came here to ask me could he lock his cat falp and lock my cat out, I said to him yes, that was months ago, it was a nothing incident, I recognise him as my neighbour, his cat comes in here and the cats all have massive high pitched squelling fights it is what cats do. She then went on and on saying she wants to get to the bottom of this and understand why! I told her again I find this all strange, I can't control the cat! I said I am sorry the cat is coming into her home. I said if she wants she can buy a new cat flap with alock and I will pay for it, if that is what she wants if she wants me to pay the 9.99 I could see delight in her eyese, and shut the door on her.

The bloody cats had a field day with loads of lovely fresh meat, dry food, wet food etc, I fed my cats left over salmon etc the lot. There seems to be a problem with only one of my cats going into theier house.

I have no idea what the hell this was all about, I am still a bit shell shocked about it really, what a strange way to behave.

I think she was peering through the cat flat also as she said she had been putting the cat back in through the cat flap, and that must have been all the noise, what kind of person does that!

loads of spelling mistakes, I am shaking, sorry.

Sounds as though she needs sympathy, tbh.

Go round with someone else, in the daytime, and (if she's there) say you're sorry your cat bothers her, etc, etc. My guess is she'll then say it's fine & doesn't bother her - but you could offer the lockable cat door anyway.

Having a neighbour with a few screws loose is just one of those things, I'm afraid. No wonder you were scared, but now you know she's just a busybody. Best if you can keep her sweet - and at arm's length.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 03/01/2011 20:10

sorry, but did anybody else read that as 'peeing through the cat flap' ? Confused

(sorry OP :) )

GrimmaTheNome · 03/01/2011 20:13

Could be worse... I read your thread title as 'weirdo peeing through catflap' and then when I saw it was about a 'she' wondered how the heck...

earwicga · 03/01/2011 20:18

That's horrible, are you ok now?

InterestedinMoving · 03/01/2011 20:19

Peeing through the cat flap!!!! Grin

I will go out and buy them a lockable cat flap, Grace, and leave it at the door, I don't want anything else to do with that weirdo!

InterestedinMoving · 03/01/2011 20:19

I am feeling better now, not shaking and the funny posts made me laugh x

I probably misread because my ILs did have someone pee through their letterbox. The police advice, which proved effective, was to say, on detecting an intrusion, 'I'm behind the door and I've got a knife'!

BertieBottlesOfMulledWine · 03/01/2011 20:41

Ugh, my ex always thought it was hilarious to recount the tale of the time he was drunk and peed through someone's letterbox. Angry Twatty thing to do to someone!

Lol at the knife Grin

earwicga · 03/01/2011 20:42

Grimma, I probably don't want to know, but why would anybody (I'm assuming it was an adult) piss through a letterbox?!?

Glad you are ok now OP.

InterestedinMoving · 03/01/2011 20:46

I was also thinking what kind of position you would have to get into to pee through a cat flap? a letter box seems about the right height I suppose when drunk and a twat!

OP posts:
BertieBottlesOfMulledWine · 03/01/2011 20:47

Yes that sounds about right earwicga, no sane adult would want to do that... unfortunately XP acts about 6 and always has done!

GrimmaTheNome · 03/01/2011 20:48

I don't know but perhaps simply 'Because its there'?

earwicga · 03/01/2011 20:51

Ha! Of course, 'because it's there' with the addition of alcohol makes a sort of sense.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 03/01/2011 20:53

Call the local station tomorrow nyway and tell them what happened...she sounds one hinge sort of a catflap and you don't ned a stalker. Women can be more dangerous than men.

Consuela39 · 03/01/2011 20:54

Ask around and see if your other neighbours know her/of her.

That way you might feel a bit safer. But seriously what a freaky thing to do. She does sound bonkers.

I would not get involved in buying catflaps etc until you have spoken properly in daylight. And make it clear she must NEVER go round the back of your house again as it scared you silly.

(don't say you live alone)

Can you get a lock on the gate?

BluTac · 03/01/2011 20:56

Anyone attempting to piss through my letterbox would be in serious trouble. It's got a very strong spring mechanism.

InterestedinMoving · 03/01/2011 20:56

one hinge short of a catflap! The kids keep randomly running to catflap and pushing through with the broom bit off a no longer sed carpet scrubber thing, and when they hear the cat flap to see if it is the cats!

OP posts:
InterestedinMoving · 03/01/2011 21:02

Consuela, I don't want to talk to her again, I did tell her I was shocked and found it odd she was around the side etc, she said she uses her side door, I said no one goes near the side, I have a front door!

I all seriousness I think her and (I think it)her brother and his wife must sit there getting all wound up about it and it must be their passtime deliverating why.... as she was very focused on why... I think it is a big problem for them all! I don't get why they don't do what he came around and asked me if it was ok to do (why he had to ask me I don't know) and just locked my cat out, and leave it at that!

OP posts:
Rev084 · 03/01/2011 21:07

Maybe she's an animal rights looney, she might think you're starving your cat so it has to go round her's for a scrounge.

My nan's small terrier escaped the other day and went into another neighbours catflap. It terrorised the christmas tree, went beserk over the xmas presents and had a go at the turkey defrosting in the kitchen. Hilarious!

If she comes round to your catflap again, I would in no uncertain terms tell her to 'naff off'... and wield some threatening object at her.

earwicga · 03/01/2011 21:48

Perhaps the 'threatening object' could be the offending cat?

Rev is probably right, the neighbour thinks you are starving your cat.

ItsGraceAgain · 03/01/2011 22:20

My mum thinks that cats visit because they're not happy at home. She expends quite a bit of thought on the matter. Plus, her sense of boundaries is weak - she's often to be found poking around people's gardens.

She is barking.

ItsGraceAgain · 03/01/2011 22:22

... I don't think she's ever tried posting a cat home through its flap, though ... yet Hmm

DooinMeCleanin · 03/01/2011 22:30

My neighbours believe we are starving our cat. They threatened DH with the RSPCA. According to him they were very swear-y and agressive and turned up in a group of three, just for effect.

Previous to this 'encounter' they had been knocking on my door a few times a day (which was annoying) to tell me my cat was sat on the step (his favourite people watching place) and had been locked out for hours.

There are several ways via the back of the house the cat can get in when he wants. I let them know this each time they knocked.

Some people are just a leetle bit too passionate about their cats and their neighbours cats. This is why they are dubbed 'mad cat people'.
