Cathy has always been a moany, humourless cow. I could never work out what Sid saw in her, nor why Kenton seemed to sleepwalk into a relationship with her.

I listen to the Archers very sporadically. We all listened to the omnibus on Sunday in the car. Good accordian playing for the theme tune

Why does Jude call Pip Fizz I wonder? Makes me think of the Tweenies. The sooner Pip sorts herself out the better.

The moaning did make an hour of the M1 go a bit quicker so that's good.

Glad I'm not the only one who listens every day and still has next to no clue of the plot or what any of the characters are called

Helen is another one of these anodyne female characters. I think it says so much of the writers that the women are such a dull group.

Only the men get to be interesting. The women get to be noble, snooty, wholesome, serious, dependable, professional, occasionally immoral but always dull. Elizabeth is now the Queen of po-faced Arse.

The men can at least be Racy Cads! Or go to prison!

The football bit was rather forced it has to be said.

Those 'topical' bits they squeeze in right at the last minute don't always work too well.

I reckon Jude will just disappear off to the States one day. But then it will be even worse with Pip mooning about the place, heartbroken. It will be painful.

I've always loathed Cathy. Her and Pat being friends is absurd - Pat wouldn't have time for her passive aggressive whining

Elizabeth may be po-faced now, but she had a very racy past... unsuitable men, an abortion and she toyed cruelly with Nigel before agreeing to marry him. Caused her parents awful heartache.

hate the way Cathy is whining on...almost feel sorry for Kenton - and long for pip and jude to bugger off - of course she'll eventually see the light...

Isn't it funny how Nigel is now just about the most sane and sensible person around?

Jude/alistair/kenton all sound alike to me - he is totally unconvincing as even a 29 year old - Pip is a rotten actress and thoroughly dislikeable (waves to ipanema !)

Definitely think that Jude is gonna dump Pip soon - or bugger off without her and not even have the decency to dump her... She seems WAAAY more into him than he is into her. And I don't think he actually likes the idea of working his way round the world - sounds more of a sirker than a worker to me...

I used to love the Archers, but I it went through a phase like this about 10 years ago, at which point I stopped listening. Haven't been back. If you hang on long enough, you may be listening to it in 25 years' time; or you could switch off (like I did) and have free Sunday mornings

Be careful, Jux - start hanging about on Archers' threads and soon you'll be lured back to listening. They have podcasts now, you know, so you don't have to do it sunday morning, you can half listen while MNing..
