Hello Headfairy and welcome.

HeadFairy · 14/01/2009 23:40

hiya. I was listening to Clive Bull as I drove in to work tonight, I wonder if I heard any of you

Ledodgy · 14/01/2009 23:41

Not me I have never rang in but you probably heard stillnacht shes a regular.

Ledodgy · 14/01/2009 23:42
  • stillenacht I mean. Btw Still are you a new poster or a namechange?
HeadFairy · 14/01/2009 23:44

Does the old chap with the funny voice still ring in? Is it Barry? He was always entertaining, quite belligerant sometimes.

Ledodgy · 14/01/2009 23:59

I think I know who you mean and yes he still rings. When I first listened I was pregnant with ds2 and had pregnancy insomnia so listened from 1am until 5am when all the loons rang up. It was fab.

EyeballsintheSky · 15/01/2009 00:11

Oh my God, I've found a load of LBC foamars here!!

I've been listening to Clive since I was born...well almost. My grandmother was agoraphobic and never ever went out so she had the radio on all the time to keep up with things. I remember listening to the overnight callers on the way home from her house with my dad in the small hours and doing the quizzes.

I used to love Steve but I can't be doing with all the no-marks he talks about. Also love J O'B, BB, Anthony Davis and Nick Abbot.

Friday night show is dire. I was making DD's birthday cake last Friday night and I was having to listen to tales of swinging, masturbation and all sorts. Now I'm no prude but really, when you're icing a one year old's cake...

Have never phoned in, been close sometimes but never had the guts. Text in every so often though.

Oh and Nick Ferrari is a sleazy slimeball. Used to be good but now too far up his own arse.

Ledodgy · 15/01/2009 00:13

LOl eyeballs. I think this maybe turning into a quiche.

HeadFairy · 15/01/2009 01:04

Apparently Nick Ferrari was drop dead gorgeous in his youth and used to have to beat the ladies off with a stick. You'd never tell now!!!

EyeballsintheSky · 15/01/2009 09:08

Hmm, I just can't bear the way he slags off his ex. It can't be nice for his beloved sons. If he keeps off that subject and stops thinking he's hilariously funny then he's very good and I love hearing him make mincemeat of stupid people!

I actually went to see his first ever show in Catford and it was good fun. Saddo, me

stillenacht · 15/01/2009 19:42

Everyone was there for Steve but i was there for James! and ..swoon a bit (yes i have seen his photo!)

stillenacht · 15/01/2009 19:44

i meant !

EyeballsintheSky · 15/01/2009 19:57

I saw that show as well. I also went for Steve but J O'B was very good. He's so sweet, even when he's having a rant. I love the way he just rattles on and on, going off on tangent after tangent.

So who are you then? Judy from Belsize Pk? River? Rosemary from Kilburn? Not Sheila from Cockfosters?! Bugger me...

stillenacht · 15/01/2009 19:59

lol!

No i am usually Clare from Catford (but thats not my real name or where i live) - occasionally i give my real name - but i am not as regular as those you have listed - they seem to permanently be on the line

I love LBC! I listened to it for years when i was younger and have recently rediscovered it since i got a DAB digital radio last year.

I mostly listen at night in bed, to Clive and sometimes Bill B. I listened loads over christmas hols, had it on all day and loved it. Esp Bill B. Did he used to be on the Esther Rantzen show that was on years and yeara ago? (i am very very old as you can probably tell).

stillenacht · 15/01/2009 20:03

Yes Bill was on Thats Life!

Welcome oneplusone to our LBC thread!

OP posts:
oneplusone · 15/01/2009 20:04

I have never phoned in though. Am too scared! And the phone is downstairs and i am usually up in bed when i listen. Maybe one day.............

oneplusone · 15/01/2009 20:04

I am in london...well greater london. Why?

oneplusone · 15/01/2009 20:06

Thanks for the welcome stillenacht, am pleased i have found the MN LBCer's!

stillenacht · 15/01/2009 20:10

I just wondering why you rediscovererd it via DAB as some people can now listen from Wales and stuff (!)

I went to Uni on the Sussex coast and used to Listen to 1152 Londond Talkback Radio (as LBC was in early 1990's) but lost the signal about 3 in the afternoon. Anyway I missed LBC (and my boyfriend who is now my hubby) so much that i came back to London!

tragic - a radio station contributed to me leaving a non London Uni so i could go home to a London Uni!

OP posts:
oneplusone · 15/01/2009 20:14

It wasn't so much that it was a DAB radio but just a radio! Hadn't had a radio in my bedroom for ages til i asked for one for my birthday last year and ever since have been hooked on LBC every night.

I used to listen to 1152 years ago too.

In fact sometimes i go off to bed early just to listen to LBC as i hate everything on tv and am too tired sometimes to read or even MN
