I am a little bit in love with Eddie Mair

Was listening to the PM programme this evening and... he is just great, isn't he?

PM interviews are much better than the Today programme IMO.

But I did love Evan's hissy fit about the phone number yesterday

What was that then?

Eddie Mair used to read the TV news on Reporting Scotland here years and years ago. So when I hear his voice, I know exactly what he looks like. Or at least what he used to look like years and years ago!

I grew up listening to EM on Radio Scotland and was so delighted to find him on R4. I love the way he manages to be astonishingly rude candid and ask the questions that we really want answered. Just fabulous.

bs- hilary benn was on selling the crap new measures the govt are introducing for people to get houses insulated and he insisted on reading out the phone number for homeowners to call. Evan was very peeved and chuntered about how this was not a good use of time, they could put it on the website etc.

Then this AM someone mentioned how fond he was of phone numbers and Evan said "yes, we advise that if a phone number is to be given out, listeners should be given some warning so that they have time to get a pen and write it down".

It obviously really riled him!

I have finally worked out who Neil Nunes is. The "aural chocolate" description really threw me!
He's the one that sounds like he is gargling marbles. I cannot stand his grating voice. I thought, originally, that perhaps it was the shock of the new but I have not mellowed to it.
Horrible noise: it is painful to listen to.
