Was listening to the PM programme this evening and... he is just great, isn't he?

OP posts:
EachPeachPearMum · 12/09/2008 20:36

Not the best picture sea!!! Just had a coughing fit with laughing!

Habbibu · 12/09/2008 20:36

Evan's not inane! Good Lord. He's tremendously good at clarifying economics issues, and I think he's a good addition to Today. Why do you think he's inane?

beansprout · 12/09/2008 20:37

If you want more of an Eddie fix I can recommend the PM newsletter which is e-mailed out each day.

LittleBella · 12/09/2008 20:37

He has made PM a must-listen hasn't he?

I've never quite got over him leaving Broadcasting House. They've never found anyone to replace him, it's never been quite as must-listen since.

beansprout · 12/09/2008 20:37

Evan looks like Gollum.

Habbibu · 12/09/2008 20:38

I knew Gollum - before he was famous, natch - nice chap.

EachPeachPearMum · 12/09/2008 20:39

Oh Hab- he just waffles on- I imagine his little pinhead wobbling on his shoulders, about to fall off!
And the phrase 'Evanomics'-gah he just really annoys me. He's quite sycophantic too.

Sorry could rant all night- its friday!

beansprout · 12/09/2008 20:40

Oh I like Evan. I can even forgive him for Dragons Den.

Habbibu · 12/09/2008 20:41

Ooh - now I've heard him being all feisty, EPPM. Oh well, each to their own.

LittleMyDancing · 12/09/2008 20:42

I love that man's voice....

EachPeachPearMum · 12/09/2008 20:43

You're welcome to him, Guillaume!

LittleMyDancing · 12/09/2008 20:43

Eddie, btw. Not Evan.

beansprout · 12/09/2008 20:45

Enjoy!!

Habbibu · 12/09/2008 20:46

We should collect favourite EM lines - he does have some corkers. Almost crashed the car a few times. Good ones here

Habbibu · 12/09/2008 20:47

x-posts, beansprout! Love these: # [Concluding a slightly incomprehensible interview on financial affairs] ... remember, PM is not here to give financial advice. Your interest in the programme may go down as well as up.

...and if you want to hear more of that interview, fly to America and watch TV on Sunday night. - June 2003

Yurtgirl · 12/09/2008 20:48

Broadcasting House followed by The Archers omnibus - with as few interuptions as possible from kids - is my idea of a blissful sunday morning

GrimmaTheNome · 12/09/2008 20:49

Evan Davis looks remarkably like a gonk (if you're old enough to remember them, little trolls usually with no clothes but lots of hair). Except he doesn't have much hair and I dont want to think about him unclothed.

EM does have a lovely voice.

The voice on R4 I really love is Neil Nunes - if the name doesn't ring a bell he's the continuity announcer who is aural chocolate. I'm so glad they kept him after his initial mixed reception

Habbibu · 12/09/2008 20:50

Still miss Nick Clarke's voice - just beautiful, and a lovely chap.

GrimmaTheNome · 12/09/2008 20:54

Thanks for those quotes beansprout. Quite appropriately this is the one that had me ROFLing:

The population of the United Kingdom has, for the first time, reached sixty million. If they stood on each other's shoulders they would reach perhaps twenty feet in the air before toppling over." [PM, 24 August 2006 17:28]

squeaver · 12/09/2008 20:54

Oh yes Grimma, he has a lovely way of saying "and now it's time to go over to Ambridge"

beansprout · 12/09/2008 20:54

Habbibu - I like the "moments later he punched her unconscious..." quote.

seeker · 12/09/2008 20:55

I don't actually believe in Neil Nunes. I think it's actually Rory Bremner.

TheFallenMadonna · 12/09/2008 20:56

Oh he is yummy.

Aurally at least.

Can't bring myself to google an image.

Habbibu · 12/09/2008 20:56

He has a good way of being very polite, so that people can't get all morally het up when he is persistent. In that way he often gets more out of his interviewees than the today programme.

EachPeachPearMum · 12/09/2008 21:06

Ohhh, Neil Nunes! Yes his voice is fabulous.
Grimma- excellent description- 'aural chocolate'
