Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you wish we were hearing more of Pip, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

I chose the thread title to echo one I used three years ago, which is here if anyone fancies a trip down Memory Lane: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4320618--Archers-thread-130-The-Fall-of-the-House-of-Aldridge-Discuss-The-Archers-here. That was the thread where I caused all sorts of confusion at the start by not starting it before the old thread filled up, but others stepped in, fortunately.

At that point I see Ruairi was heading off to London to start his degree, which he has now finished, with none of us any the wiser about what he studied or where. Perhaps this will finally be mentioned now he's graduating.

And now, over to you!

The last I recall was their birthday overalls @Brefugee

Bruisername · 16/09/2024 10:32

No doubt they will be winning everything at the flower and produce show

Madcats · 16/09/2024 10:50

In my defence I don't drive, but what would have happened if George had just 'fessed up on the night of the accident?

Driving without due care & attention? A fine and 5 points?

As for perverting the course of justice; litter picking with Robert?

The timing of the jail overcrowding IRL must have messed things up.

EBearhug · 16/09/2024 10:54

If he'd confessed to driving at the time, they would presumably have breathalysed him, so there could be a drink driving charge as well. Also driving without insurance.

But either way, less than he's looking at now.

iratepirate · 16/09/2024 10:54

Perhaps driving without the relevant insurance, @Madcats ?

Possibly not even driving without due care and attention, given that Alice actually caused the crash by trying to open the door, and that would have been believed if he'd have fessed up immediately

we haven't heard much about The Most Incredible Twins Ever To Walk This Earth (and their now forgotten window) for ages, have we?

True, wasn’t the last time when they had their very own mini-veg garden and matching boilersuits with embroidered names? 🙄

muddyford · 16/09/2024 12:03

In Yorkshire we always ate Wensleydale cheese with apple pie, as well as Christmas cake.

A friend used to make an unbelievably delicious pear and Stilton pie.

WitcheryDivine · 16/09/2024 12:22

V belatedly checking in.

i was coming here to say that. I always eat apple pie with Wensleydale. I always eat fruitcake with Wensleydale.

Neither of them are nearly as good without the cheese.

tourdefrance · 16/09/2024 13:52

Checking in to say I found the kittens very boring. 🥱
Ed sounded a bit more supportive though.

Lalgarh · 16/09/2024 14:13

Is that a real kitten 🐈 or is it a voice artiste doing the mewing

I thought that about Ed. I'll be glad if he stays on Emma's side despite my predictions of doom.

I found the kitten perplexing: you have two people on scene (plus Wayne et al off air); one of them has a recently-healed serious leg and side injury, the other is fit and well. Which one would you send up a ladder? It really did sound like a Casulty set up, whoever said that upthread.

Bruisername · 16/09/2024 14:16

It’s the miraculous recovery fairy

This reminds me, I have a recipe for a fig and blue cheese crumble somewhere.

I hadn’t realised how old Poppy and Kiera are; the way they’re spoken about makes it sound like they’re still about 7!

I also thought Will and Emma were quite thoughtless talking in front of Ed as they did, talk about rubbing it in that he’d been kept out of the loop Hmm

MereDintofPandiculation · 16/09/2024 14:49

Which one would you send up a ladder? The one that doesn’t get vertigo. In our household that would be the 80-something.

LillianGish · 16/09/2024 14:55

I also thought Will and Emma were quite thoughtless talking in front of Ed as they did, talk about rubbing it in that he’d been kept out of the loop - or looked at another way, kept out of the police station. Emma has actually done Ed a favour by not confiding in him. I do agree though that it looks like this will come between Ed and Em (and I’m still not ruling out a dalliance with Fallon).

Maybe but I don’t think Ed sees it like that. He’s clearly still salty that Emma didn’t confide in him.

And not only did she NOT confide in him but she DID confide in Will, her ex-husband (albeit George’s father). Whether it will be the shared experience of a legal sword of Damocles/prosecution or Ed’s behaviour or a feedback loop of both, there’s definitely cause for them to be closer than they have been for a long time…

Bruisername · 16/09/2024 15:01

For me, Will and Emma having a thing would be jumping the shark

Brefugee · 16/09/2024 15:08

i will be needing that!!! I love pears and/or figs with blue cheese (nice bit of borsetshire blue would go well in a pear tart...)

LillianGish · 16/09/2024 15:28

I completely agree with all of that @BrightYellowDaffodil

ClockwiseHoneysuckle · 16/09/2024 15:31

When to the twins go to school? I'm already feeling very sorry for their prospective teacher. God help them if they don't pronounce "Seren" properly.

Minimammoth · 16/09/2024 15:51

So, who’s Aunty Rosie,( so far away) when she’s at home, and who’s going to be looking after her post op.? Eh eh?

Bruisername · 16/09/2024 15:53

Yes! I nice convenient escape

TottersBlanklyOnTheEdge · 16/09/2024 15:55

Oh gosh - the local council will have to set up a whole separate department entirely dedicated to the starry twins. It’ll be like The Ben Archer Personal Mental Health Service. A 24 hour dedicated phone line direct to Bridge Farm. Hot and cold running TAs setting up camp in a little hut outside Tom and Natasha’s front door, just to be on hand for the Very Important Pair.
