I need a gripping new radio show!

I can run for a long time with something interesting in my headphones, but I need something new! I prefer radio drama or comedy to music.

I have listened to every episode of Cabin Pressure about 10 times! I've recently listened to Michelle Obama's autobiography, Rob Delaney's book about his son that died and binge-listened to every season of "Lifelines" over a week. Loved, loved, loved Lifelines.

I'm training for a 10K - I need more radio to download from BBC sounds - any recommendations? A good Book of the Week? A fascinating Dessert Island Discs?

Someone just recommended "Desert island Dicks" podcast to me, looks fun? I haven't listened yet though!

Cabin Pressure fan here too. I love Welcome to Our Village, Please Invade Carefully - it’s not on BBC Sounds right now but if you search online it comes up on archive.org.

I also love a good panel show like Just a Minute, The Unbelievable Truth and Elephant in the Room. Also sketch shows like Small Scenes and John Finnemore’s Souvenir Programme (as in John Finnemore who wrote CP).

I had Audible for a while and got all the Rivers of London books as well as all of Cabin Pressure.

Old Harry's game is good. Or dad's army.

I loved Life Lines too. Others I've enjoyed include:
Where this service...
Where to, mate
Mark Watson Talks
Sue Perkins hosting just a minute
It's a fair cop
Mark Steel Comes to town
Gossip and Goddesses with Granny Kumar
Annika Stranded

Can’t believe I forgot Old Harry’s Game! Recently got the entirety of it - about 21 hours altogether - for just one credit on Audible

I enjoyed Miles Jupp's 'In and Out of the Kitchen'. Think it's on R4 Extra.

If you want a Desert Island Discs episode search for the one with David Nott. One of the best.

Alfie Moore 'It's a Fair Cop' is very funny.

'Stone' with Hugo Speer is a really good police drama - don't know if they're available, and the Meera Syal drama where she plays a police family liaison officer.

The adaptation of The Pallisers was excellent and I really enjoyed the mash up of Arnold Bennett novels that was on a while ago - Tim McInnerny and Neil Dudgeon were in it.

And the Thom Yorke Desert Island Discs a good one

And the drama with Anton Lesser where he's sleuthing around in ancient Rome. I could listen to Anton Lesser all day.

Worth listening just for Paul Leonard Copley, another voice I could listen to for hours.

Brilliant all, thank you , there's a few new titles in here for me to try.

I've never got in to Old Harry's Game before, but if I can get it all for 1 Audible Credit, I'll give it another try!

There's loads of stuff on audible that's included if you're a subscriber - including podcasts.

On BBC Sounds you might like Brief Lives - there's loads of series which I think are all available. Stone too.

This Thing of Darkness is really gripping - a murder mystery with a psychiatrist talking about the psyche of a murderer.

Its available on BBC sounds.

Also Annika Stranded is a drama in monologue set in the Oslo Boat squad and performed brilliantly by Nichola Walker.

The episodes are only 15 minutes but there are about 6 series.

Why has no one mentioned my dad wrote a porno yet? Flipping hilarious stuff. I couldn't run to it though...I had to pull over while driving in the early days because I was laughing so hard it wasn't safe to continue on the road.

It's free on Spotify if you want to give it a go.

I've been quite surprised at how much I've enjoyed The Battersea Poltergeist, The Witch Farm and the Uncanny series on BBC Sounds. I'm not particularly into ghosts, the supernatural, etc but there's something about the human psychology behind it all, and the sense of peril, as well as the historical aspect that I find really gripping!
