The Witch Farm stars Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale) and Alexandra Roach (No Offence), with original theme music by Mercury Prize-nominated Gwenno. This 8-part series interweaves a terrifying supernatural thriller set in the wild Welsh countryside with a fascinating modern-day investigation into the real-life mystery behind what has been called Britain’s most haunted house.

Thank you @Windywuss

I find this news most pleasing!

MOST pleasing indeed!

Gah, can't wait!!

LyndaSnellsSniff · 17/02/2023 22:39

I read AGES ago that Battersea Poltergeist was going to be televised. Has anyone else heard similar??

WhiskersPete · 18/02/2023 09:56

Heads up - 2.22 has just released tickets for a tour of shows outside London!

Just booked tickets for Halloween in Salford but they seem to be going fast...

WhiskersPete · 07/04/2023 22:26

New Uncanny series on BBC Sounds now!! Just about to give the first episode a listen...

thenightsky · 10/04/2023 10:01

I'm waiting for a few episodes to be available before I start. I like a longer session!

BabyStopCryin · 10/04/2023 10:04

Apparently he has a book deal but I can’t see any mention of release date.

JuneFromBethesda · 12/04/2023 20:25

Glad to see there’s a new season of Uncanny. It’s very entertaining listening although I am a massive sceptic and I think most of the cases are bollocks 😄I’ve just listened to Ep.1 of Season 2 and didn’t find it remotely scary.

My favourites are Room 611, which I’ve listened to loads of times - I love Ken’s deadpan delivery - and the one about Luibeilt.

Oooh yes, they are my favourites too. I listened to the Ampleforth College one last night when I couldn't sleep at 2am, in the pitch dark bedroom, with headphones on.

thenightsky · 12/04/2023 20:32

Love the theme tune too

WhiskersPete · 12/04/2023 21:44

and the one about Luibeilt.

I'm also a sceptic but I found the Luibelt episode terrifying.

Just about to listen to episode 2...

thenightsky · 12/04/2023 22:01

Going for the 2nd episode in half an hour. Wifi headphones charging now!

WhiskersPete · 12/04/2023 22:13

Oh yes, quite eerie tonight!

Holy crap James!

😱😬😬😬😬 Episode 2 is best listened to I'm daylight with people around! (And not I'm bed alone I'm an empty house when it's windy outside).

LunaNorth · 12/04/2023 23:11

I found the Ampleforth one scarier than episode 2!

The little boy with the ball 😱

WhiskersPete · 13/04/2023 16:30

I dunno - the thing scrabbling up the stairs gave me the willies.

And then he stopped rolling the ball and pointed to something! 😱

BabyStopCryin · 15/04/2023 09:43

I’m not finding it all that scary. Growing up local legend had it that our house was haunted and my grandma wouldn’t come after dark (she saw something and was terrified).

We were used to the noises, ‘voices’, shadows, bangs, nuns (oh yes nuns) and weird music playing at night. And the ‘ghost’ that used to speak to my sister…

I’m sure there is a reasonable explanation for all that… but it really was fun to spook out new visitors when they’d say ‘who was that passing the kitchen window just now?’, who is upstairs?, why is the dog freaking out?

Me too. That's what got me!

Suboptimalsitch · 15/04/2023 23:48

I was wondering if some of the poltergeist activity they were hearing was noise from the adjoining house . My DGC scramble up the stairs on all fours, pretending to ‘being dogs’. It makes a heck of a racket . I do agree that midnight would be a weird time to be doing it though. The other stuff with the mirror is well weird. I wondered if the voice saying get out was an auditory hallucination brought on by acute stress? It’s a weird case alright. The Ampleforth one didn’t freak me out at all though I’m sure in that situation - on my own in a huge, old ex monastery would feel pretty terrifying.

BabyStopCryin · 16/04/2023 08:53

I remember my psychology lecturer telling us that she once housesat for someone (alone) and heard a creepy raspy voice calling out her name over and over.

She was petrified until she found the coffee machine was spurting out water and gurgling away, sounding like a rasping voice.

Suboptimalsitch · 16/04/2023 10:45

BabyStopCryin. That must have been terrifying.

This was my first thought too

BabyStopCryin · 16/04/2023 16:38

I was wondering why the mum hid in the garden rather than going to a neighbour and calling the police.
