Pat dead? Thanks, Asking!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 28/11/2020 16:03

More likely to be Poor Old Tony, I suppose. Now that the actor is no longer needed to be a feather in O'Connor's cap.

PoulePouletteEternellement · 28/11/2020 16:12

Hmm ... So Susan's end of an era is connected to Tony's emotional discovery?

A goat?

Pat giving up the dairy because ...?

PoulePouletteEternellement · 28/11/2020 16:16

Or Bert Horrobin dead?

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/11/2020 16:18

Thanks Asking

I see Harrison is putting in an appearance. Possibly related to horses or detectorists?

BadlydoneHelen · 28/11/2020 16:39

Could it just be Helen and the boys moving away- buying Kirsty's house?

Madcats · 28/11/2020 17:12

I want Harrison to assume that Alice is "under the patio" due to her sudden, lengthy unexplained disappearance from Ambridge.

Surely somebody would have noticed her erratic driving over the past couple of years, especially during lockdown.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/11/2020 13:01

I noticed yesterday that the BBC has put the one liners up all the way to New Year's Day, so here they are. First week as provided by Asking above. There's something very odd about the week after Christmas. All the episodes seem to originate at 2pm, repeated at 7pm. No new Monday episode, but there are episodes Tuesday to Friday. The Friday episode is New Year's Day and it looks like they're marking the programme's 70th birthday with a bang.

30 Nov Tony makes an emotional discovery and David finds himself backed into a corner.
01 Dec Gavin has the rug pulled from under him and Tracy has a bone to pick with another resident.
02 Dec Jazzer finds himself under attack and it’s the end of an era for Susan.
03 Dec Eddie learns a valuable lesson and Chris struggles with recent events.

07 Dec Chris finds himself on edge and Eddie makes a new discovery.
08 Dec Chris’s paranoia threatens to overwhelm him, and Kirsty struggles with the prospect of moving.
09 Dec Alice’s behaviour causes suspicion while Lily and Freddie’s birthday celebrations have an unexpected outcome.
10 Dec Helen is asked a shocking favour and will Gavin finally do the right thing?

14 Dec Susan makes her farewell and Oliver gets stuck in.
15 Dec Philip’s making plans and Kirsty’s looking forward to Christmas.
16 Dec Roman drops a bombshell and Eddie’s concocts a plan.
17 Dec Philip sets his plan in motion and Gavin’s on the brink.

21 Dec Tracy struggles to pick up the pieces and Freddie finds himself with more on his plate than he anticipated.
22 Dec David’s evening takes a surprising turn and Eddie is very much in demand
23 Dec Gavin reaches the end of his tether and Jazzer calls a truce
24 Dec Kirsty demands answers and there’s a festive surprise for Clarrie.

[28 Dec Nothing - but there's an episode on Friday!!!!!!!!!]
29 Dec Kirsty makes a big decision and Tracy attempts to cover her true feelings.
30 Dec Freddie attempts damage limitation and Phoebe tries to cheer up a loved one.
31 Dec Peggy has a shocking suggestion and Jazzer finds himself in a compromising position.
01 Jan Ambridge faces a life-changing crisis and one resident makes a special announcement.

OP posts:
PoulePouletteEternellement · 29/11/2020 13:44

Oh, wow!

Great snooping, Gasp0de.

So it looks like Tracy's getting dumped? We did hear the words "working on your screenplay?" directed at her beau a few days ago. May we surmise that Hollywood calls (Halloween Hmm) and he's off? Also leaving Freddie in the lurch with the LL Christmas thingummy. Who will then, of course, need Eddie to pull everything together.

The whole of Ambridge facing crisis? Whatever could it be? Guessing not flood, fire or pestilence ...

It all sounds exciting - but I was excited last year, and the big reveal was Tom throwing a strop over Joy fancying his dad. Halloween Angry

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 29/11/2020 13:45

I only dole them out one week at a time because it seems sensible: I have the cast and the one-liners way in advance of that, but I don't get the Radio Times and the Daily Mail synopses-in-advance until the week before.

ppeatfruit · 29/11/2020 13:47

Wow thanks Gasp That'll be useful because I can't get the Radio Times here now.

Ref. the 'Horses' Philip began by being so plausible and pleasant. How can anyone hide their cruel personality from their partner for so long? There must be a "shxx hits the fan" moment when Kirstie discovers the truth surely? She was never a fool.

PoulePouletteEternellement · 29/11/2020 13:53

It's all welcome, AnyQs! I quite often read the teasers on the site myself, but I'm much too lazy to go to the trouble of sharing them here. So I'm always delighted that you and other people are more community minded. Star

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/11/2020 13:56

Asking, I like getting all of those together the way you do it because each individual bit suggests a new way of looking at one of the other bits, if you see what I mean. I couldn't resist going so far ahead this time, though, after clicking on what I thought was 1/12 and realising it was actually 1/1! I'd forgotten it was a round number anniversary this time. 75 will probably be a bigger deal if TA/we are all still around then.

Can anyone give me some details (I may have missed) on the lives of the slaves? Do they live in a flat with neighbours? Do they live in a deserted cottage in the country? Are they all homeless? Also does Gav live with his mum (does she know?).

It's all so nonsensical.

CaptainMyCaptain · 04/12/2020 10:48

A flat has been mentioned. Gavin lived with them during lockdown but not sure if he still does. Selling said flat was also part of Philip's getaway plan.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 7th - 10th December 2020
Secrets have a habit of rising to the surface no matter how hard a character tries to suppress them. So even though Chris is desperate for Alice’s erratic behaviour to stay under wraps, one family member is fast becoming suspicious.
Kirsty is having a busy time of it, what with a commitment to the Lower Loxley show and the organisation of a local litter pick. But will the fact that she’s more ingratiated than ever before into village life give her second thoughts about leaving?
Finally, Lily and Freddie are planning a wild night for their 21st birthdays, but they end up having to endure a more meagre celebration than the one they’d hoped for.

##################################################

I am fairly sure the BBC means "integrated" there, not "ingratiated".

Lauren: Laura Rollins; Laura Rollins appeared in the cast for the week of 6th October, and there was the on-the-phone midwife (called a medical advisor) in the programme that week.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 04/12/2020 11:48

Thanks, Asking! Esp for the info about Lauren. I wonder who Layla is.

I think the BBC is about to do a bit of time travelling, as Frilly's birthday is on Saturday 12th (coincides with a family one here, so I always remember). Much more likely that they plan a birthday bash for a Saturday than a Wednesday, surely?

Just spotted Peggy's name in the cast list - hurrah! I bet she's the one with suspicions. Widow of an alcoholic, after all. Oh dear.

On my local nextdoor someone was claiming that grey squirrels were 'ingenious' when they meant 'indigenous'. At least they made sure that no one could point out that the assertation wasn't correct.

ppeatfruit · 04/12/2020 13:28

Thanks Captain If it's a flat, it's surprising that there are no nosey neighbours, I bet the slaves are not particularly socially sensitive Or maybe the charming Philip has threatened them to keep quiet.

It is an interesting SL because the slaves are probably grateful for a home. The relationship between Gav and Blake surely would 've been a longer one. We have no knowledge how long it has all been going on. (As far as I know) .

Thanks Captain.

Sorry to get on to semantics Mike But grey squirrels are ingenius (they have been filmed cleverly breaking into 'squirrel proof' bird feeders) Also they are now indigenous in most of the UK but it hasn't been relatively long. Didn't they come over from America with Rothschild and escape into the wild from his collection in the Cotswolds?

I may be wrong of course Grin

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/12/2020 14:08

A species can't be imported and become indigenous. A species is indigenous to a given region or ecosystem only if its presence in that region is the result of natural processes, with no human intervention. Grey squirrels would need to have evolved in this country for that to be the case, and they were imported in 1870s by misguided landowners who thought they looked sweet.

A Rothschild was definitely responsible for the Edible Dormice of Tring. That was a little later; shortly after1900, I think, and probably a different Rothschild -- Lionel. It's a considerable nuisance if they get into your roof, because you're supposed to cherish the little blighters, and they make a noise like footballers practising when they are awake, as bad as rats.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/12/2020 14:10

Or come to that bats, which are another species you are not allowed to do anything to alarm, like use your own loft...

Weasely · 04/12/2020 14:37

@ppeatfruit, @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

Here is a cut'n'paste of the post:

"Oh get over yourselves .....we introduced gery squirrels to this country...as we did mink .....so now that squirrels are ingenious....they are part of our landscape ....show some compassion"

Here is my reply
"Karen, You might like to read this:
www.mammal.org.uk/species-hub/full-species-hub/discover-mammals/species-grey-squirrel/?hilite=%27grey%27%2C%27squirrels%27

Rats are ingenious too but I'll save my compassion for endangered species."

Weasely · 04/12/2020 14:47

Glis glis are a pest in this area.

I think you mean the Chilterns not the Cotswolds.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/12/2020 15:03

It's very simple: a case of not knowing the meaning of a word. Which was where we started out, with "ingratiated".
