Archers Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd like to employ Philip Moss & Son to fix your soil pipe, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3439443-keep-it-to-yourself-the-archers-spoilers-thread-4, where spoilers are positively welcomed! (New thread likely to be replacing that one very soon, in the current circumstances.)

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Thanks to @SurpriseSparDay for the thread title idea, which I tweaked, and @springydaff for the 💥 emoticon, which I hope is in the title! (Can't preview the title). Welcome, lurkers and lapsed listeners, drawn out of the shadows by the current crisis in Ambridge. In the OP of the last thread I said I didn't think we'd get to Easter on that thread. We certainly didn't!

I am very worried indeed about Lynda and concerned about Oliver too. Don't care about Gavin unless it means Kirsty is cheated out of yet another wedding. Freddie's redemption is now assured, though, surely? Roll on the return of the Lower Loxley crew.

Really! How can they write the character Phoebe (supposedly clever enough for Oxford) to be such such a naive dimwit? Justin is running rings around her.

nettie434 · 31/03/2020 20:09

I thought he did the work but whinged about it getting in the way of his own business?

That is definitely more accurate C8H10N4O2. I was being a bit hyperbolic with ‘did nothing’. He did the minimum he could and moaned a lot.

How Brookfield will be divided seems quite complicated. When we had the Red Herring Possible Move to Prudhoe, didn’t Kenton and Elizabeth want their share? I don’t really remember the legal status of the farm.

Phoebe is really quite unemployable. She is lucky to have got herself in partnership with Pip and Rex who are both grafters (there, I have said something nice about Pip Shock). I enjoyed the Justin chat this evening. He is a horrible man and I would like to see him get some backlash from being associated with Phillip.

MikeUniformMike · 31/03/2020 20:23

Maybe she went to Ambridge University not Oxford.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 31/03/2020 20:58

Phoebe is as thick as mince. Ludicrous that she is supposed to be a PPE graduate. Why hasn't she got a part-time job to keep her going? Her dad is a grafter. Even her mum seems to be able to work when it suits her. Surely the entire family would have been on her case about getting a graduate level job which would make her self-sufficient?

Brookfield is the principal/only asset of a limited company - Ambridge Farmers Ltd? The owners of the company are the shareholders. There are A shares and B shares. A shares carry voting rights and the right to a dividend. Ruth and David own all of those. B shares carry only the right to a share of the surplus if the farm is ever sold at a high enough price to pay off all the company's debt. Kenton, Elizabeth and Shula have B shares. That's why they would have been in the money if the Dopeys had moved to Northumberland.

Pip isn't a grafter though, is she.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 31/03/2020 21:09

Pip does work hard. She's not likeable, she's not always honest, but she's not lazy.

Really? Do you not remember the incident with the fence?
