Archers Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads and @DadDadDad for being our resident statistician and keeping the ball rolling when Pseudo stepped back a bit and more recently when someone forgot they had promised to start the next thread, ahem.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd like to be Susan's best friend or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from this thread, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Archers Thanks also to LillianGish for the splendid thread title. As actor Edward Kelsey died last month, we have probably heard Joe Grundy for the last time, or will do very shortly. Sad RIP Mr Kelsey; many thanks for creating a wonderfully vivid character, gnarly toenails and all.

As pointed out on the last thread, we're getting very close now to the 100th birthday of June Spencer, who plays Peggy Woolley. What an achievement! I hope the team manage to squeeze Peggy into that day's episode, come what may.

Grin Eccles, I'm delighted for you. Contemplates listening again to spot Eccles' distinctive tones, which I managed to miss.

Bunting story - is that it? I never understood why the storyline was introduced however many years ago it was, but it was a loose end that could have remained untweaked as far as I'm concerned.

Re Chris's injury - he's a self-employed farrier. If he's still walking around like a pig in a truss Hmm and unable to play cricket this weekend, has he had to cancel a week's work?

EcclesThePeacock · 01/06/2019 08:21

It's right near the end, Gasp0de, commented on by name by Tracey.

While I usually like the 'odd couple' of Jim and Jazzer, this prank really doesn't seem to fit either. And as to Chris... really not something any of us want to dwell on, surely?

Isatis · 01/06/2019 09:02

The SWs seem to be determined to shoehorn in really heavy-handed attempts at humour. Hence all the sniggering around CMR being bitten in the balls and someone's underwear being nicked. If this is down to the newish editor, someone needs to tell him that it just doesn't work.

BertrandRussell · 01/06/2019 09:12

The obsession with willies is getting very tedious.

BertrandRussell · 01/06/2019 09:13

Incidentally, could Tracy really have bowled hard enough to do that much damage?

LillianGish · 01/06/2019 09:13

That’s the bunting mystery solved (yawn) - though we still don’t know who stole it is the first place - and we still have to suffer the tedium hilarity of Harrison getting Jim bang to rights. It still doesn’t answer the question of who stole the eggs and we must now presumably sit back and await more side-splitting capers when Jazzer’s spider escapes. The fun never stops.

LillianGish · 01/06/2019 09:25

From bites on the balls to balls in the nuts it’s Carry On Farming. Carry on listening and discuss The Archers here

Isatis · 01/06/2019 09:27

Nice one, Lillian.

DadDadDad · 01/06/2019 09:42

I think someone mentioned that June Spencer's 100th(?) birthday is in the next couple of weeks, so title might want to acknowledge that.

Also, something about Jim: is he going to get banged up for handling stolen goods? will the surprise Jimposium be a success?

@Thing1thing2thing3 - "weirdest episode ever" - have we already forgotten a week ago and the episode entirely devoted to Natasha's return?

BertrandRussell · 01/06/2019 09:53

Laugh? I thought I’d never start.

LillianGish · 01/06/2019 10:05

June Spencer’s birthday is June 14 - I’m hesitating to reference it until it has actually passed for fear of tempting fate. As we have whizzed through this thread in two weeks I think we might be better waiting for the next one, but you are actuary DDD - what do you think?

birdsdestiny · 01/06/2019 10:05

It's really really bad at the moment. Who is in charge currently?

LillianGish · 01/06/2019 10:06

The actuary

InkySplatter · 01/06/2019 10:25

I don't think Jim can be charged with wasting police time Istasis because it was made clear that Harrision has been investigating the bunting in his free time only.

LassOfFyvie · 01/06/2019 11:08

And Harrison didn't need to hang around all evening.

DadDadDad · 01/06/2019 11:29

By the way, birds, I don't think LilG's post following yours is in answer to your question!

At least, I hope not. Shock

Barring a jilt / stab / septic death thread explosion, I think we can be confident that the next thread will last beyond 14 June.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/06/2019 11:59

Just popping in to reassure DDD that I am around. Will be back on laptop within the hour and will start next thread then.

DadDadDad · 01/06/2019 12:05

No rush, Gasp0de - this thread's got capacity to last into tomorrow (but it's no big deal to cut over early if you don't want to organise your life around TA threads unlike me Shock ).

Thanks.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 01/06/2019 12:06

Excelling yourself title-wise Lil’G!

Perhaps the Buttons will reveal where they found the bunting... this story has layers.
