Archers Thanks due to @PseudoBadger for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads and to @DadDadDad for being our resident statistician and keeping the ball rolling when Pseudo stepped back a bit. Thanks also to all those who contributed to the thread title, principally Dumdedumdedum and MikeUniformMike on this occasion.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd like to be Susan's best friend or other odd unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from this thread, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

So, to business: will Helen's new cheese be a success? Will Kate succeed in keeping her visiting Brummies under control? Will Pip, Toby, Tom and Natasha fall into the slurry pit, leaving Rosie to be brought up by Anthony Head Robin Fairbrother? Will we ever hear Lee again, and will he casually drop in a mention of his fine collection of framed Bruce Lee posters? Grin

just another example of how little Natasha knows about Tom's extended family
I know. Tom forgot to explain that Peggy has a magic money tree in her garden. I'm sure that Natasha would have been much more interested in Peggy Hilda if she'd known that.

BertrandRussell · 25/04/2019 23:10

Hilda’s not an old cat, though.....

BertrandRussell · 25/04/2019 23:11

And diesn’t Tom owe Oeggt megabucks already?

BertrandRussell · 25/04/2019 23:12

*doesn’t
*Peggy

DadDadDad · 25/04/2019 23:13

(In my defence, I am allergic to cat fur, so I prefer to keep them at a distance).

Maybe in response to the question about starting a family, Natasha needs to milk the fact that they have tiny home and really need to find the money for a deposit for a house suitable for raising children. Memory failing: didn't Peggy help Tom out before with a planned house purchase? what happened there?

chemenger · 25/04/2019 23:17

Crabby old cats are old in spirt, not necessarily in body. They’re born that way.

chemenger · 25/04/2019 23:19

You’re actually allergic to cat spit, in all probability, DDD, if that’s any comfort.

Redshoeblueshoe · 25/04/2019 23:19

I used to post on here, but I gave up on the Archer's 2 years ago
I just wanted to say RIP Joe
And how brilliant it is that these threads are still going

LassOfFyvie · 25/04/2019 23:27

but whatever you think of Natasha, Hilda's scratch had made her bleed, and Peggy wasn't even apologetic and just changed the subject

Isn't that normal? You're telling me I'm supposed to apologise?

DadDadDad · 25/04/2019 23:34

Hmm, so Lass, you're one of those, just one step down from dog owners who tell you "they're very friendly" which may be true but completely unhelpful to the young child who is understandably terrified by a strange animal jumping up all over them. Angry

(I know you're joking, and I'm not really angry - Smile ).

DadDadDad · 25/04/2019 23:38

You’re actually allergic to cat spit, in all probability, DDD, if that’s any comfort.

Just did some googling and it appears you are right - so I've learnt something today. Although given the way cats clean their fur the distinction is quite a fine one.

LassOfFyvie · 25/04/2019 23:40

How old is Gnasher? Do we know?

GeorgeTheBleeder · 25/04/2019 23:50

How old is Gnasher? Do we know?

I doubt if Tom knows ...

(Though the TA blog gives her dob as 8 March 1982.)

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 26/04/2019 06:48

Good for Hilda!

IME cats can spot a wrong'un a mile off, and will act accordingly.

Gnasher has been rumbled - Hilda is on to her.....😼

birdsdestiny · 26/04/2019 06:54

Perhaps Natasha is gping to announce that she doesn't want to live in ambridge anymore. It would actually be perfectly understandable from an outsiders point of view they are a family that you would slowly back away from.

BertrandRussell · 26/04/2019 06:58

How about Natasha is pregnant already and tells Tom but at the same time tells him that she’s caught toxoplasmosis from Hilda and it’s all Tom’s fault?

GeorgeTheBleeder · 26/04/2019 07:14

How about Natasha is pregnant already and next time she has lunch with Trevor she announces his impending fatherhood?

FiveShelties · 26/04/2019 07:31

So sorry to read about Joe, I hope someone takes care of his ferrets and horse.

What has happened to Peggy - she sacks Emma because she thinks Kate is going to do the cleaning and next she has the most bizarre and ridiculous conversation with Natasha.

The conversation was only surpassed by the Tony and Natasha conversation. At least I think I was listening to The Archers.

EBearhug · 26/04/2019 08:43

Yeah, but Hilda likes Kate...

Aethelthryth · 26/04/2019 08:47

Loved Hilda and Gnasher!

BuckingFrolics · 26/04/2019 08:53

Were we not meant to think Peggy, as a wiley old bird so to speak, was enjoying herself at Gnasher's expense? Even with the Black Forest Gateaux - unfashionable, pedestrian, and fattening.

BuckingFrolics · 26/04/2019 08:57

The only point of gnasha is that when she leaves Tom, he will see the light re Kirsty, who has been kept in just for this long term plot line, and we'll be subject to Tom re-wooing Kirsty, a massive wedding, the inevitable babies and them living happily ever after as Mr n Mrs A?

R4 · 26/04/2019 09:00

Talking of Black Forest Gateaux, did you spot Emma trying to offload unsold cake again yesterday. All is not well at The Tea Rooms.

campion · 26/04/2019 09:56

BuckingFrolics we've been round the garden several times with Kirsty. Give her some credit for knowing Tom's not the one.

Much more likely is Hannah. She loves him (incredibly),understands farming and is the opposite of Natasha ie lacks charm and wiliness.
Otherwise,why is she in it?

Taswama · 26/04/2019 12:19

Is the only point of female characters to be a male characters love interest (or mother or sister)?
