Brian is over a barrel, Alice has drained the barrel and Shula has given it to Alistair with both barrels - The Archers is not exactly a barrel of laughs at the moment.

Thanks to @LillianGish for the thread title.

C8H10N4O2 - but a) Freddy wouldn't want to run the place. b) I'm sure there are legal ways around it nowadays, if he wanted.

cheminotte · 10/04/2018 17:21

Is Freddie the sole heir? Did I miss something?

JessieMcJessie · 10/04/2018 18:21

Yep male line only cheminotte.

R4 · 10/04/2018 18:25

Is Freddie the sole heir?

Who knows. It's one of those complicated legal thingumys that they never explain properly. The house and estate are tied up in some Trust. We used to hear about the Trustees every now and then (eg when Lizzie was getting planning permission to convert some part of the buildings into guest bedrooms) but not recently.

Gruach · 10/04/2018 18:34

We used to hear about the Trustees every now and then

Was about to say the same thing! As I recall Freddie inherits the stately pile and Lily gets an enormous wodge of cash. I thought of it when Freddie was describing his international itinerary to Shula yesterday. There was no mention whatsoever of he or Noli having to earn money for all their flying and whatever. I wondered just how generous his allowance actually is.

I’d be very disappointed if clever, adult Lily is exiled to Brenda-land. They’ve done such a good job of weaving her into the fabric of LL (could do more on making her part of the village ...) and she and Freddie are so entertaining together. I imagine her there permanently and Freddie as the next Kenton, crashing in and out trailing chaos and familial disapproval.

JessieMcJessie · 10/04/2018 18:58

Freddy said Noli was his cousin. I know just a figure of speech to acknowledge they are related but was trying to work out what actual relation they are.

Noli is the great granddaughter of Freddy’s great uncle. i.e. Phil was Freddy’s Grandad, he was brother of Jack who was Jenny’s Dad and Noli’s great grandad. What sort of removal of cousins does that make them?

EBearhug · 10/04/2018 19:04

I think they're second cousins once removed.

I tend to refer to "my cousins", not my first cousin once removed, or third cousin, unless we're having an in-depth family tree discussion - and even then, we tend to refer to "Arthur's lot" or "Stanley's line" (from my great-grandfather's generation of siblings,) as that tends to give a clearer idea of exactly how we're related.

So I can see why Freddie just said cousin.

JessieMcJessie · 10/04/2018 19:06

Absolutely EBearhug wasn’t questioning what he said, just curious.

Gruach · 10/04/2018 19:06

Good lord but this music is so damn clunky!

TeenTimesTwo · 10/04/2018 19:07

So according to your tree.
Jack & Phil brothers.
Their children Jenny and Elizabeth are therefore first cousins.
Their children Kate and Freddie are second cousins
Kate's daughter Noli is therefore Freddie's second cousin once removed.

JessieMcJessie · 10/04/2018 19:07

Impressed at the instant genealogy knowledge here!

Abra1de · 10/04/2018 19:14

OMG Pat. Bad idea.

Abra1de · 10/04/2018 19:14

Although it is Pat’s house not Helen’s.

C8H10N4O2 · 10/04/2018 19:17

Freddie inherits the pile at either 21 or 25 - can't recall which. There was no mention of an enormous wodge for Lily, just a settlement (which presumably in previous generations would have been on marriage). Certainly no suggestion of a percentage of the estate value.

Thinking about it, when Freddie comes of age Lizzie will also be his employee.

The trust was just for whilst Freddie was under age wasn't it? I don't remember any trust whilst Nigel was alive.

theDudesmummy · 10/04/2018 19:18

What could possibly go wrong...

ADarkandStormyKnight · 10/04/2018 19:27

Helen transforms Olwen into a huge cheese for talking to Henry?

Pat gets fired for massive breach of safeguarding/ volunteer code of conduct?

Olwen gets amnesia after a particularly enormous tome from Tom's capitalist library falls on her head?

Abra1de · 10/04/2018 20:11

Olwyn may take over from HWMNBN.

Gruach · 10/04/2018 20:15

Had to laugh when she said she couldn’t face the likely onslaught of rules and regulations at the hostel. She hadn’t met Helen ...

choccyp1g · 10/04/2018 20:15

Olwen has TB and Henry catches it.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 10/04/2018 20:16

You may be right, choccy

Abra1de · 10/04/2018 20:24

Helen and Pat really deserve one another. They should live in a commune with Shula.

LassWiADelicateAir · 10/04/2018 21:26

What harm could she possibly do?

Faites vos jeux !

AlecOrAlonzo · 10/04/2018 22:18

I may have glittered the odd knicker, @LassWiADelicateAir. I have a chequered past.

I will lose my cool altogether if FP sails through his A levels. A few weeks of "revision " does not equate to thinking and listening and discussing and absorbing and writing and reading and PAYING ATTENTION for two years!

Good job Hellin has eight folk kinda sorta keen on maybe perhaps making ice cream. And here was me thinking she hadnae a dashed clue about business.

echt · 10/04/2018 22:26

So now we have parallel plots with additions to households. Plainly Olwyn is the wild card, if Emma doesn't implode soon.

Strange that only now is Helen's fear about who Henwee might meet on his outings with Gran even mentioned.

I enjoyed the laundry aspects: Olwyn would have smelt like a badly-kept charity shop after weeks in a car.

YouStacey · 10/04/2018 22:43

I have a vague recollection that Lily is doing art and drama?
