Brian is over a barrel, Alice has drained the barrel and Shula has given it to Alistair with both barrels - The Archers is not exactly a barrel of laughs at the moment.

Thanks to @LillianGish for the thread title.

OP posts:

I don’t understand why Ed didn’t tell Will that Nic had already told Joe ( yes I do realise how complicated that sentence was!) But wouldn’t he want to warn Will that it’s not the secret he thinks it is?

MrsGrindah · 06/04/2018 16:10

Plus admitting that he ( Ed) already knew but hadn’t said anything would show Will how loyal he (Ed!) is

MrsGrindah · 06/04/2018 16:11

Anyway, I can’t deal with this now..I’m at work!

C8H10N4O2 · 06/04/2018 16:23

I'm also disappointed in Clarrie expecting Emma to lose money to look after Will's children and step children but I'm more annoyed with Will taking it for granted. He needs to sort out proper childcare.

I so wanted JD to fling that comment about 'conscience' back at Brine. Expressing surprise he knew the concept of conscience would be a good start.

Its always fascinating to see wealthy people who want the law laid down on the odd poacher/petty criminal finding a million reasons why their own crimes should be overlooked.

“The Ambridge Man-Child and His Insufferable Petulance. Discuss.’

Too early?

orangina · 06/04/2018 16:52

Grauch that gets my vote.....

orangina · 06/04/2018 16:52

Gruach even.... Blush

C8H10N4O2 · 06/04/2018 17:00

Gets my vote but in TA you might need to specify which petulant man-child is under discussion Grin

Gruach · 06/04/2018 17:05

All of them! Except maybe Neil and Robert.

R4 · 06/04/2018 17:25

Not really!
"Here, Will, let me prove to you that I can keep my mouth shut by blabbing out Granddad's secret."

C8H10N4O2 · 06/04/2018 17:30

All of them! Except maybe Neil and Robert

Yes that works!

orangina · 06/04/2018 17:51

Number 1 PMC: Brine...
Number 2 PMC: Roy...

Anyone care to continue the list?

birdsdestiny · 06/04/2018 17:54

Clarrie has spent her life being mistreated by Eddie so not sure she would be able to stand up to will.

C8H10N4O2 · 06/04/2018 18:58

Anyone care to continue the list?

I think its easier to list the exclusions!

I'd exclude Neil and Robert, probably Oliver but I'm struggling to think of any more exclusions.

wtffgs · 06/04/2018 19:31

Sore loser much, Brian? Grin

LillianGish · 06/04/2018 19:42

Clarrie thinks Will is suicidal. She would do anything to keep him in her sight. She doesn't realise Will thinks he might go to prison! This. She doesn't know what else to do. It's a pity Emma and Ed can't do a house swap with William that way Clarrie would get to keep and eye on Will, Will wouldn't have to struggle along on his own and Ed and Emma would get their own place - everyone's a winner. I must say though I'm failing to see the logic of Mia and Jake continuing to live with Will if they are actually living at Clarrie's. What about Andrew and Nic's mum? It would be no more disruptive for them to move back in with their dad than to move into Grange Farm.

birdsdestiny · 06/04/2018 20:48

I don't really think David is a man child. I don't think Ruth and David treat each other well but it's on a fairly equal basis.

MrsGrindah · 06/04/2018 21:04

But it’s not Grandads secret! It was Nics ( and Wills as we have discovered) and she wanted him to know

Jenijena · 06/04/2018 21:09

Brine got all sinister at the end of tonight’s episode... I suspect the my son vs my son battle is gaining momentum...

AuntyElle · 06/04/2018 21:20

Plumsofwrath, yes! Justin is waiting to pounce.

cheminotte · 06/04/2018 21:33

I enjoyed Neil and [Toby’s brother] doing the pigs together earlier in the week.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 06/04/2018 23:30

So I'd like to see Annabelle taking the Chair. I think she'd be a good match for Justin.

orangina · 06/04/2018 23:51

Why is Jill pushing so hard for Shula to stay with Alistair? She is not being very supportive of her daughter.... "Do you really want to grow old... alone"?

What a cow.

LillianGish · 07/04/2018 06:57

I think she’s pushing her because she loves Alistair, he’s genuinely one of the family - lives very close, works with them on the farm, has been a father to Dan etc etc - and she can see no reason why Shula should want to leave him and Shula can’t give her one. I think if Shula could give her a single reason she’d leave it. I actually think it’s Shula who is being a cow to Alistair by giving him no explanation and not even trying to articulate her feelings. If she wants to leave him fair enough, but she should at least try to explain what has brought her to this point which the counselling (suggested by Alistair) might help her to do. It won’t change anything, but at least it will, help him to understand and she owes him that if nothing else.

Halsall · 07/04/2018 07:50

That's fair enough, Lilian, but I must say I'm finding Jill's increasingly impassioned hootings at Shula infuriating and massively intrusive too. If this was a Relationships thread I think people would be saying that her mother needed to butt out and leave them to sort out their own marriage problems.

Does Jill know about Alistair's gambling, the re-mortgaging, 'so fresh' etc etc? I cant remember whether any of that was made public or stayed a secret. I thought Shula was about to mention that when Jill demanded 'ONE REASON' - then she just subsided into saying defeatedly 'all right, it's all my fault'.
