Sorry for the poor title - the end of the last thread has arrived sooner than I thought and I haven't had the benefit of hearing all of the last 2 nights....

It must be to do with access to Jack (and maybe Henry) as there are no criminal cases pending at the moment.

Olympiathequeen · 14/10/2016 08:06

Yea it's about access to Jack

Cromwell1536 · 14/10/2016 09:06

NBS can read the BBC teasers like anyone else. I love A month in Ambridge, and it disappeared for ages.

ppeatfruit · 14/10/2016 09:08

she's beginning to realise her son is a teensy bit unhinged Shock Shock If she hasn't realised yet, she'll be keeping her son company in the bin. Grin

glowfrog · 14/10/2016 09:10

Actually I wonder if it might have been better if the psych was a man - because he might have let his guard down, possibly? And been more likely to show his true colours? Although it does sound as though he might have been his usual arrogant self.

ZuleikaDobson · 14/10/2016 09:16

This article sets out the circumstances when a solicitor can stop acting for a client - basically things like non-payment of bills, a conflict of interest, a breakdown in trust and confidence, the client requiring the solicitor to do something that would involve a crime or breach of professional obligations, and sometimes the client losing mental capacity.

I guess if Rob keeps trying to use the law to persecute Helen, a time would come when the solicitor could refuse to go along with it, but he probably isn't at that stage yet. But it must be quite galling to have to put forward an application which you know is doomed to fail and which will have the judge shouting at you not to be so stupid. I suspect the application will be full of terms like "I am instructed that ..." to show that it wasn't the solicitor's idea.

CheesyWeez · 14/10/2016 09:17

Yes "I'm On" isn't working and also on this thread I have "(This thread has 530 messages.)" AND "View 1000 messages" So are you thinking up a new title Pseudo? Smile

Looking forward to the rest of the Rob unravelling - or maybe his "wheels will come off"? Nice choice of phrase from Tom about his Nuffield interview

ppeatfruit · 14/10/2016 09:21

Yes MN office started doing odd things yesterday afternoon, it's not quite right today for me but better [grin[

TheAntiBoop · 14/10/2016 09:24

Rob has managed to charm women in the past - if he was 'original rob' as opposed to 'caricature baddie rob' with the psych it may be worse that it was a woman

His all out baddie side coming to the fore is a little odd as he previously masked it so well.

enochroot · 14/10/2016 09:54

We did see his mask slip on occasions when things weren't going his way such as when he tore into Jim when he, Rob, had performed so badly during the guided tour Charlie made him do.
He usually ensured there were no witnesses though.

I'm surprised no one has recalled his extreme non-cooperation during the flood - or that David and JD haven't remembered Stefan. It's time his 'hero' status was debunked.

And has anyone checked that Jess is OK or thanked her for coming forward?

TheAntiBoop · 14/10/2016 09:59

Yes the mask has slipped in the past but appears to have been lost forever now

The thing I hated under doc was the way sl were made to pause until he wanted them back again. But life doesn't work like that. Eg why is Shula self flagellating about the sab affair and Jenny/David haven't thought about stefan?

And given Helen is family, why are the aldridges not more up in arms with Justin?

enochroot · 14/10/2016 10:09

I always thought that if he were seriously opposed he would lose it completely. Now everything is going so badly for him after years of being in control of everything and everybody that he just can't process it. I think a man like that would be extremely dangerous in that condition.

80sWaistcoat · 14/10/2016 10:53

I think Rob would more realistically have flounced off away from the village and turned up a few months later with a new girlfriend in tow who he'd be starting to emotionally abuse.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/10/2016 11:14

The reason Rob hasn't moved away (yet) is because of 'Gideon' mainly.

enochroot · 14/10/2016 11:24

It's also his sense of pride and being hard-done-by that's making him stay. He won't admit he's wrong and he's determined not to retreat as that will make it look, in his mind at least, as though Helen has 'won'.

enochroot · 14/10/2016 11:31

And another thing....
Can he use joint assets to pursue further legal action against his wife when she and her family have had to bear all the costs on their side?

Vango · 14/10/2016 12:03

There's no way Rob will leave Ambridge of his own accord. As far as he's concerned, he's the injured party and justice has yet to be done!

TheAntiBoop · 14/10/2016 12:03

Tbf I'm not sure he should have any of his money spent on Helens defence. She did Stab him!

I guess Helen needs her half of the assets back but he can spend his half on whatever crazy legal action he wants to take

I'm confused as to why he thinks taking Helen to court to change the baby's name is a good idea when he seems to have accepted he will lose. Yes it's a pain to be dragged through court but will make her even stronger when she wins and him more of a loser

Vango · 14/10/2016 12:10

I'm confused as to why he thinks taking Helen to court to change the baby's name is a good idea when he seems to have accepted he will lose.

To torture her? To make her scared? To remind her that he's going nowhere and can make her life as miserable as he likes? He knows her weaknesses and maybe he's hoping she'll give in before it gets to court to avoid another confrontation? He's got nothing else to do, and nothing really to lose.

TheAntiBoop · 14/10/2016 12:29

I guess.

Given that a quick Google will show how hard this would be it's more likely to come across as a deluded and weak man trying to flex his muscles!

ZuleikaDobson · 14/10/2016 12:56

If Rob tried to use his charm on the psychiatrist it's unlikely to have any effect because she'd have all the social services and other reports that the court saw and which led to the decision to take Henry away, so she would know the worst. In fact, if he tried, she would (I hope) be taking notes to the effect that these were the classic EA techniques he used to draw Helen in in the first place. But I suspect that at this stage he wouldn't bother, because to get anywhere with the psychiatrist he would have to show some insight into his own failings and he cannot possibly admit to that.

TheAntiBoop · 14/10/2016 12:58

You can't admit to failings if you think you are perfect!

My point was more he would have put on his charming act rather than told her she was a silly little girl and can he see a proper doctor. Given the comments of hers he repeated she seems unlikely to have fallen for it!!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/10/2016 14:12

I think it's a psychologist he's seeing, not a psychiatrist. He referred to questionnaires and from my experience of working with psychologists in a previous job that would figure. They're very keen on questionnaires. Clinical psychologist, I assume. With luck, one day he will be in the prison system and may be seen by a forensic psychologist.

All of which reminds me of one of the conspicuous failings in the prison/trial phases of the HelRob story. Where were the forensic psychiatric and psychologica reports? My former colleagues from both disciplines made an excellent living doing court assessments alongside their NHS work.

AntheaBelveden · 14/10/2016 15:02

There's an actual real life Rex and Toby on Judge Rinder!

Sensible brother lent irresponsible brother money, irresponsible brother then buggered off on holiday for two years without paying it back.

Sensible brother is on the left, in a suit obviously.

There's a slow hand clap for Knob. Will there be one for Toby? Discuss The Archers here.
RockNRollNerd · 14/10/2016 17:29

Did he go to Brighton on his holiday Anthea Grin.

I hope Tony's Tractor isn't going to be the literal death of him in some kind of circle of life death type way. That was a lot of discussion for a new hobby/project.
