Sorry for the poor title - the end of the last thread has arrived sooner than I thought and I haven't had the benefit of hearing all of the last 2 nights....

It seems a bit unlikely that a nice lad like Johnny wouldn't pop home to see his mum and SD on the odd weekend. Maybe they skype and he's just not mentioned it.

I wonder if Pat and Tony ever thought about how much Sharon must miss Johnny when they were only allowed access visits for Henry?

No, I don't think they so. Tony and Pat can be very self absorbed, blinkered and not especially empathetic. I think there's a lot of her parents in Helen.

Fink · 08/10/2016 19:01

He does mention occasional visits, doesn't he? I thought there was a weekend within the last month when he'd been up to see them. And Pat was worried about how it would look to his mum if he moved out of Bridge Farm so presumably he does talk to them regularly. I guess it's just not interesting enough to comment on regularly.

Gruach · 08/10/2016 19:06

Most of us thought a nice slice of lemon drizzle cake and a knees up at the Bull would have been infinitiely preferable to hearing poor Nigel fall to his death, but then we were told we were "the wrong sort of listeners". She had a way with words, did Vanessa. Or in poor Nigel's case, with vowels.

I know I'm a bit late but this deserves more applause. Grin

Not pleased about Kate and Roy becoming so pally. They never are when Phoebe is actually there. And Hayley should have taken Phoebes to Oxford. Bet she did a helluva lot more homework supervision over the years than Kate did with all her children put together.

Anyway - nice to see everyone still here, being witty an' all.

Johnny regularly mentions having been to visit his mum or having spoken to her

Can I give a BOOP for Susan? I thought it was actually rather touching when she admits that she was wrong about Knob was rather touching

LillianGish · 08/10/2016 21:07

Gruach Wine I've missed you Smile

TopazRocks · 08/10/2016 23:27

It's funny, when i heard Susan I wondered if she had some ulterior motive. I'll listen again tomorrow and decide. Smile

More applause for FC from me. I went Grin when i read it.

Minimammoth · 09/10/2016 00:23

I reckon they'll have a whip round in the Bull for Helens legal fees. Sorted.

TheAntiBoop · 09/10/2016 09:00

I'm sure Caroline and Oliver will find some dosh down the back of the chaise longue to sort it all out

Gruach · 09/10/2016 10:18

I'm still wondering why Ruth wasn't offended about not being on Tom's interview panel ...

choccyp1g · 09/10/2016 10:38

Gruach I thought the Ruth actress did a good job of sounding offended despite it not being written into the script.

Gruach · 09/10/2016 11:15

Yes ... It seemed like a nice little avenue to amble down - but they dodged it.

ppeatfruit · 09/10/2016 16:16

Yes BOOP and another BOOP for Helen agreeing with her (not saying 'you beatch'). Grin

Cromwell1536 · 09/10/2016 17:26

Just to say that Adam's voice is not sexy, smooth, suave or anything nice at all. Whining, irritating, whingeing, self-pitying, yes. None of which get my knickers wet. What a diverse world we live in, eh?

Cromwell1536 · 09/10/2016 18:02

All this talk of Johnny and his mother Sharon has just reminded me that I used to work with the husband of the actress who plays Sharon! We had a nice natter about potential storylines when Sharon was briefly written back in for a couple of scenes. Anyway, no-one need panic that I'm about to spill any inside knowledge - the scriptwriters were absolutely agnostic about whether Sharon would feature in future or not.

I enjoyed the scene with Susan, but I cannot for the life of me understand why no-one ever calls her out on her blatant sticky-beaking and malicious gossip. I only ever remember Jill doing it once, when she stuck up for Elizabeth after the Great Roy-Shagging Scandal.

I always think Adam's voice makes him sound like speaking his lines is sooooo much effort

listened off and on to the omnibus this morning.
I was rooting for Jill - why does PIP (and Helen for that matter) make it all about them. It was Jill's 86th birthday (with cake) and should have been family and hangers on that Jill would be happy to see - Pip knew Jill did not like Toby (we all have the right to dislike someone!) and to bring him as an unwanted guest and blame it all on Jill
words fail me. If they start wittering on about dementia because an older person could not possibly dislike someone - I shall be vv annoyed.

GrumpyOldBag · 09/10/2016 18:33

I missed the susan bit, what did she say?
