Welcome one and all. No spoilers please!

Re: Pat trying to stop Helen driving - I thought it was more out of concern about doing the school run. I mean, she is going to get a few looks at the school gates, isn't she? Perhaps Pat is aware of that and worried the experience won't be pleasant for Helen.

Aside from that:

Justin is a dick.

So is Jennifer for her seemingly unconditional support for Adam. Sure, OK, she has her experience with Brian and so on, but she could be a bit more disappointed.

Imbroglio · 20/09/2016 07:52

Re pat - then why not just say 'school run' and offer to go with her the first time?

Re Jennifer - she feels guilty for telling Rob about Pavel. I'm surprised she didn't tell Adam to buy Ian a nice present, which is what Brian used to do to her after he'd been unfaithful.

Fiderer · 20/09/2016 08:01

That NBS article is wonderous Grin Hadn't seen it in the Guardian, thanks for the link.

Am still chortling.

TheAntiBoop · 20/09/2016 08:06

But why would Jennifer be showing disappointment now? Hasn't she known about all his shenanigans for a while?

LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 20/09/2016 08:10

It was quite noticeable that when Adam expressed regret, it was regret for being indiscreet, not for his activities themselves.

TheAntiBoop · 20/09/2016 08:14

Well she would be a hypocrite to scold him for cheating when she has herself done it in the past!

i hope she doesn't pop round to see Ian and offer advice

ibrowze · 20/09/2016 08:17

I wondered whether Rob's surgery on Justin's start date 10 Oct was made up. On spur of the moment Rob had to give reason he couldnt start then and didn't want to volunteer it was upcoming psychiatric assessment?
Then he had to cover up by saying recovery would take a while.

Imbroglio · 20/09/2016 08:38

I thought Adam was starting to face up to himself - funny how you hear things differently.

Vango · 20/09/2016 09:06

I heard that Adam admitted it was all his fault, and that he really regretted what happened. And that Jenny apologised for talking about it to Rob.

I was disappointed with the way that Pat spoke to Helen about driving. She's been driving in the countryside for years. I thought her comments were very undermining.

Re. Rob. Does anyone know if Stoma reversal surgery carries any specific risks? Might he take longer than anticipated to recover, if he recovers at all?

ibrowze · 20/09/2016 09:13

I still don't really understand what was meant to have taken place on stab night.
Anna suggested a scenario in court, but did that include both stab wounds? Any surgeons with forensic knowledge of knife wounds please enlighten meSmile

BitOutOfPractice · 20/09/2016 09:23

Oh Usha is it tonight - hopefully to throw some light on the situation at BHC. I assume Helen is the tenant?

DadDadDad · 20/09/2016 09:33

I'm pretty sure Rob is the tenant and Helen.moved in with him. He must have been living on savings for many months or have Bruce and Ursula being bailing him out?

Vango · 20/09/2016 09:36

Rob's the tenant isn't he? Didn't he rent the cottage when he first arrived. Helen stormed off to move in with him when relations with her parents were strained following the discovery of H&R's affair. Usha didn't feature in any of the discussions though!

glowfrog · 20/09/2016 09:37

Imbroglio Pat may have feared being direct because it's not an easy thing to bring up.

I didn't know Jennifer had cheated before, only Brian. Fair enough.

BertrandRussell · 20/09/2016 09:39

Please tell me Usha's going to give him notice. Please!

Vango · 20/09/2016 09:40

glowfrog Jenny had an affair with a cowman and Adam was born.

Vango · 20/09/2016 09:43

Actually no, ignore that! She was an 'unmarried mother'. The affair was later I think.

Olympiathequeen · 20/09/2016 09:50

Stoma reversal surgery is pretty straightforward with not much chopping about (sadly). Full recovery takes around 6 weeks but 3-4 weeks should do it. It's similar to a csection.

I think the SW soon uncovered Robs manipulative and damaging relationship with Henry. We were just not privy to it as it added to the entertainment value in terms of a radio drama. After all we're not really flies on the wall unless they decide, so a bit of teasing here and there for dramatic impact is part of the game.

Justin is an utter shite.

BertrandRussell · 20/09/2016 09:58

Well, call me controlling, but if I was Pat,mi'd be shit scared about Helen driving with the children in the car for at least a while. And I would be terrified of the reaction she's going to get in the village or at the school gate. I would be doing everything I could to persuade her to leave things as they are for a while at least.

Olympiathequeen · 20/09/2016 10:02

Maybe that's why Helen was so easily picked off by Rob? Everyone protecting her, covering for her, taking decisions away from her, trying to convince her she is wrong (as in Henry's conception).

She needs some tough love. Get out there. Hold your head up. COPE ffs!

xmasadsboohiss · 20/09/2016 10:02

Yeah she's not exactly used to the outside world yet is she? Virtually imprisoned in her own home and then actually in prison. No wonder she finds the junk mail so fascinating. I can understand Pat being cautious about her driving.

Lancelottie · 20/09/2016 10:05

She needs more Peggy and less Pat in her life at the moment.

Vango · 20/09/2016 10:07

i can understand Pat's caution but she could have explained why. Any of the above reasons would have done. I'm not surprised that H wants to get back on the road and reclaim a bit of independence.

ibrowze · 20/09/2016 10:13

bertrand and xmas completely agree. Helen needs decompression time. After several months at a retreat we were encouraged to enter the outside world very gently, car accidents were known to feature amongst those who jumped back in feet first. Baby steps.

Oops sorry my mistake about psychiatric report. It was for Henry wasn't it not Rob (wishful thinking)

ibrowze · 20/09/2016 10:15

Yes Vango she needs explanation. Perhaps Pat still in recovery from being cc'd by Rob
