I can happily live without Charlie. Another one who underwent a total character transformation! He was nasty and horrible when he first arrived, especially to Adam, and nothing he subsequently did ever redeemed him. I genuinely don't understand why anyone likes him? 😁

All this talk of the Nic and George slapping incident has reminded me… of the existence of Nic. When did we hear from her last? Don't think her name has been on most recent lists of 'silent' characters…..

I know Caroline is being painted as a ghastly, entitled, Tuscany-obsessed yah, but frankly I can see her point and am not sure why we are supposed to have such sympathy with the Grundies either (for reasons given upthread).

Agree about the grundies. They are coming across really badly at the moment!!

The problem with the to sops is they make every character unsympathetic. The archers always had a balance

I sort of miss Tiger, though I went right off him after he (a) sent a frightener round to Paul (even though he didn't mean it to precipitate his death) and then (b) was vile to Lillian about the funeral.

I like to think that he was mellowed out by Ambridge rather than a Volte face but that's just because I'm biased.

I can barely keep up! Since I've been away, the trial has happened, Helen is a free woman (of sorts), Ian has only just started talking to Adam (after HOW long????), and there is a new editor (hooray). I think Hoo will be ok. When I think of SOC I think of Footballers Wives and how it became sillier and sillier and sillier until it lost the plot completely.
