Orange Is The New Black in Ambridge. Just ask Helen. But will anyone in The Archers ever ask her WHY?

I reckon this thread will see us through the Euros, both footy and referendum. Await the clunky topical inserts here.

Lass all I remember is that Brine & JD came home.

EBearhug · 27/06/2016 08:17

And Henry was at Bridge Farm.

JudyCoolibar · 27/06/2016 08:27

Why would Pat and Tony think they have a good chance of getting Henry back? Ostensibly he's perfectly well settled where he is, and Helen has said nothing useful. Rob will no doubt be telling the court that they put visiting Helen ahead of seeing Henry on Father's Day, and how Henry doesn't seem to like going to theirs any more. Surely if anything the balance has tipped in Rob's favour?

Gruach · 27/06/2016 09:18

Given Pat's certainty last night I really don't see them getting Henry back this week ...

TheAntiBoop · 27/06/2016 09:21

Why hasn't Henry been offered some form of counselling?

Still shocked that PR can't be revoked by the parent who granted it

JudyCoolibar · 27/06/2016 09:22

I suppose the logic behind PR being not easily revocable is the need for stability for the child.

TheAntiBoop · 27/06/2016 09:24

If that's the case it shouldn't be so easily granted either

Gruach · 27/06/2016 09:36

Still shocked that PR can't be revoked by the parent who granted it.

Indeed. Henry's current situation seems utterly bizarre. No biological connection and no adoption in place. Is this particular outcome common in RL?

Gruach · 27/06/2016 09:37

(Although obviously it was not Helen who "granted" Rob PR - but he has it on extremely feeble grounds.)

TheAntiBoop · 27/06/2016 09:42

Yes I did mean she actually granted but it was on her say so

i can think of situations where this could be devastating for a child. In Henry's case he appears to be well looked after but there is clearly emotional abuse

ppeatfruit · 27/06/2016 09:44

Judy I noted that Ian told people that he had "landed" knob one at the race. (I can't remember what the race was about). He knows Hell isn't to blame.

enochroot · 27/06/2016 10:35

Pat and Tony's confidence about getting Henry back is sure to mean it will all go wrong and Pat will do even more hand-wringing.

Is 'hot' and 'banging' a good look for Helen at a hearing?

ppeatfruit · 27/06/2016 10:44

Aren't those terms used by Caz to show that she is young or "dahn wiv de yoof innit?"

ppeatfruit · 27/06/2016 10:45

Oh God i got the cross out lines in a mess!! Blush

Scarydinosaurs · 27/06/2016 10:49

Pat and Tony need to pull their finger out if they think they're getting Henry back.

Actually DO something!

  1. Helen's wages being paid to Rob
  2. Henry and the reading
  3. Lying to school/failing to inform
  4. Get a child psychologist
  5. The fact Rob is lying about where Helen is.

So frustrating.

redshoeblueshoe · 27/06/2016 11:09

Pat and Tony - have a bloody proper grown-up conversation.

I've only just listened to last nights and I wanted to bang their heads together.
I want to know

  1. Is Tony on glue
  2. Whose side is he on ? Still pandering to Knob, we must not tell Henwee Gideons real name
  3. Why do they think they will get Henwee ?
  4. Have they spoken to a solicitor ?
  5. How much more of this shite can I put up with Grin
JudyCoolibar · 27/06/2016 11:12

Given that Jack is registered, it really is ridiculous to pander to the Gideon nonsense with Henry.

Surely Pat and Tony must have had some conversation with a solicitor prior to the hearing this week? Wouldn't it be normal to discuss with them issues like what Henry gets told about Helen. It's pretty bloody unlikely that no-one at school has mentioned it to him anyway.

Scarydinosaurs · 27/06/2016 11:45

And why the bloody hell are they not taking Henry to see his brother???

BluePitchFork · 27/06/2016 12:37

because they have him only a short time one day a week and the drive would be too long to get back in time for handover?

BertrandRussell · 27/06/2016 12:39

I think it's an overnight stay to visit Helen, isn't it? They don't have him overnight.

redshoeblueshoe · 27/06/2016 13:40

Yes but when Rob asked to have him for Fathers day it was the perfect opportunity to offer to pick him up from school on the Friday, and drive up.
Rob had even suggested that they could pick him up from school and have him overnight.

Scarydinosaurs · 27/06/2016 14:15

They could do it. They could request and if Rob turned it down, HE would be the unreasonable one. It's ridiculous.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/06/2016 14:23

You're all right. I remember now I had taken it for granted that's what they'd do, but I'm not listening with full attention any more, and had forgotten by the time the long mooted overnight stay came round. Why on earth wouldn't they do that?

Gruach · 27/06/2016 14:34

I guess, with people leaving (or promising to leave,) and other people busy with outside commitments, there hasn't really been anyone actually in charge and keeping a firm hold on the story. So they're just lurching from one unconvincing possibility to the next ...

Yes, Gruach, isn't a new prime minister editor not due until the autumn, and even once they implement article 50 new storylines, it might be some time before we see the results emerge. Grin
