I've just browsed Lowfield for the first time - they really don't like Pat do they!

Henwee is still an Archer, isn't he? It makes sense for Helen to give the brothers the same surname.
Ha! Never thought that I would write 'Helen' and 'sense' in the same sentence.

KingscoteStaff · 28/05/2016 09:24

Can't wait for Peggy to bump into Ursula in the village shop and just drop the names into conversation.

Duelling grannies!

Gruach · 28/05/2016 09:30

It's a turning point for you, R4!Grin

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 28/05/2016 09:41

I wouldn't even have thought she'd call him titchener.

redshoeblueshoe · 28/05/2016 09:47

I did say when Knob applied for parental responsibility that I was surprised that Henwee's name wasn't changed to Titchener.

ElfinStardust · 28/05/2016 09:54

It winds me up that in her role of mother, Helen isn't permitted to have PR removed from Rob and decide where her son lives. Rob hasn't adopted Henry so he's not his dad. I know many of you discussed this at the time but it still irks me. And I would hope that, in the best interests of the child, Henry would be allowed supervised visits with his mum.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 28/05/2016 11:37

I found my old, tired and cynical eyes tearing up at that last scene me too.

John Anthony ARCHER. Surely anyone's first blurted out question would be Why Archer not Titchener? But not her idiotic self obsessedfamily

No that's not fair. They would have to be very dim to have thought she would use Titchener.

Interesting that when changing names is discussed on here there will invariably be posters who say they were glad to take husband's name because their own was so awful. Here Archer is a gazillion times better than Titchener.

shinynewusername · 28/05/2016 11:40

I found my old, tired and cynical eyes tearing up at that last scene me too.

And me. Even though I find Tony annoying.

Thank you for the new thread Pseudo. I wish they'd leave H alone for a while, it's taken me 5 pages even to decide whether to post on this thread so it appears on my TIO

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 28/05/2016 22:38

Perhaps, once the name has been registered there will be less Helen. After all she is safely tucked up in MBU, the baby has been born, so there isn't really much more to happen is there until the trial.

DadDadDad · 28/05/2016 23:17

Couldn't Rob go to court to get custody of the baby? He could then raise him as Gideon whatever it says on the birth certificate.

AugustaFinkNottle · 28/05/2016 23:55

I would hope there would be a lot of activity prior to Helen's trial in terms of preparing her defence, including tracking down Jess and Stefan.

TopOfTheCliff · 29/05/2016 00:07

I don't think Helen needs Jess or Stefan. As long as she gives examples of Rob's behaviour such as his interference in her bank account, controlling the cheque book, taking over her job, tracking her phone, following her to the school when she went to get Henry, choosing her clothes (the mauve tent!)and making her send back the "low cut" maternity tops, isolating her from her friends etc then Anna will be able to do her work.

AugustaFinkNottle · 29/05/2016 00:17

But someone needs independent evidence of at least some of those things, which will involve a bit of work from the legal team.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 29/05/2016 02:47

Helen can 'claim' whatever she likes but as she is facing a really serious charge you'd presume she'd need a bit more than her word against his. However, I suppose she is trying to give reasonable doubt rather than trying to have him convicted beyond reasonable doubt.

If it wasn't because of dv what's the alternative motive- unhinged? Because she does not have e.g. an affair or a financial motive.

But still I think having stabbed someone she'd need a bit more than he said I couldn't find the chequebook but I know he hid it.

But still the eviden e gathetimg could happen in the backgroubd, lessthan once a week and more with the other chatacters. Except Pat who is only to be commented on by third parties.

CuttedUpPear · 29/05/2016 07:00

DadDadDad there is no such thing as 'custody' any more. It is referred to as residence and as long as Helen is breastfeeding then he wouldn't get it.

I haven't listened for a week but if she hasn't established breastfeeding by now she's on shaky ground.

CuttedUpPear · 29/05/2016 07:03

Also. .. it's really easy to change a baby's name before they are 1 year old. The parent can just walk into the registry office where they were registered and do it.
I did it with my DS.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 29/05/2016 08:13

CUP not if there is a other parentwith PR who opposes the change.

DadDadDad · 29/05/2016 08:28

Thanks, cutted, I knew as I typed it that custody is not the right word (I even had "residency" at the back of my brain), but it was late... Confused

That's interesting about changing name. I was aware that you can change name in the first year. Can the father just walk in and do this without any checking with the mother?

Thymeout · 29/05/2016 09:14

Topof - the examples you give would convince the Mnet Relationships Board but you'd need something more substantial for a court of law.

Remember what the doc who attended the scene said. 'Whoever did this wasn't messing about'. She's accused of Attempted Murder. There will be medical evidence - 'if she'd stabbed him only a cm to the left, it would have been a fatal wound'. There's no evidence that he attacked her first or that he was attacking Henry, who shows no sign of being afraid of him.

Re namechange, there was a post saying that according to the NCT, the mother's wishes prevail in a dispute.

BYOSnowman · 29/05/2016 09:26

If Helen stabbed him once I can see how she could claim accidental/self defence

But she stabbed him several times. He said 'Helen, give me the knife' and she stabbed him again. There was no suggestion at that point that she or Henry were under threat.

I can't see how any of his abuse can be enough to get her off and would surely be used to reduce sentence.

I think whoever wrote the stabbing scene got a bit overexcited tbh
