I do hope Lynda has a carbon monoxide monitor in there...

£129.00!Shock

I'm so behind the times I had to look him up. Cute. I want one now.

Poor Henry. Will they buy him another one?

campocaro · 25/04/2016 08:41

Sorry if this has already been posted -no time to look back at whole thread - but this brought a tear to my eye this morning dammit! m.youtube.com/watch?v=oPqUx4nuSAs

EBearhug · 25/04/2016 08:46

Presumably theremusthave been some discussions off air with social workers about who should look after Henry?

There was some discussion about children's services coming round, because Tony said something about, anyone can see we're not that sort of family. But as far as we've heard, there's been no discussion about longer term care when Rob is out of hospital.

We don't yet know that P&T are going to do nothing but I suspect in their circumstances, unless the social workers had specifically told me he had to continue staying here, I'd struggle to think I could argue against someone with parental responsibility, but I don't know. I'd probably check with them the next morning (after all, a night of sleep interrupted by being pulled from one house to the other probably wouldn't be in Henry's best interests.)

I wonder if Rob was planning to complain that P&T never let him see H or have him back home where he belongs - and now Ursula is wrecking his plans through her own manipulativeness.

Gumpendorf · 25/04/2016 08:59

Ursula is wrecking his plans through her own manipulativeness

Ever since we heard Bruce, I've been wondering if Ursula would be Rob's downfall. Listening sort of in hope Grin

Vaara · 25/04/2016 09:09

But presumably Henry is not just with Pat and Tony because they were the first people on the scene after the stabbing? Some sort of discussion must have been had which placed Henry in their care.

Therefore, any obstruction or perversion of this agreement would HAVE to be reported at least to the relevant authority who placed him (SS?) if not the police.

mummytime · 25/04/2016 09:23

I hope a SW has been around in the background. I'm hoping Henry is sent to school today, so at least they are monitoring his behaviour.

I still wonder if there is something in Rob's background that could come out in a DBS search, and hoping one is carried out now.

PseudoBadger · 25/04/2016 09:37

And if Helen can't see Henry as he is a witness, then shouldn't the same apply to Rob?

Hello, been lurking since the start of the year (approx.)! Amazed it is your third anniversary – great to have found somewhere for TA discussions (several friends refuse to listen to TA, tainted by being forced to be quiet when their parents listened)! Just listened to last night's episode on iPlayer and it was cut off during the theme tune. What was it that the continuity announcer said?

EmilyDickinson · 25/04/2016 09:51

It's so frustrating that Henry has ended up back with Rob and Ursula but entirely predictable.

Tony and Pat had to take care of Henry because he had one parent in hospital and one parent in a police cell. In those circumstances grandparents who lived nearby, who he saw regularly and who he'd lived with previously were clearly a good option for temporary care. I don't see that anyone can argue that Henry has to stay with his grandparents now that one of his two parents is back in the family home.

Rob has parental responsibility, has taken a significant part in Henry's care, Henry clearly likes him and calls him Daddy, Ursula is on hand to help while Rob is recovering and, it's arguably better for Henry to be back home and in his normal routine.

Rob has no criminal record (as far as we know) and Helen hasn't (yet) made any allegations against him. As far as the police and social services are concerned there is no reason why Henry shouldn't live with his only available parent.

NotdeadyetBOING · 25/04/2016 09:55

Happy Anniversary all; this thread is a great source of joy.

Henwee TOTALLY said Arsula. That made me laugh. Unlike most of the rest of the episode.

I shudder to think what horrendous treatment is going to be meted out on that small boy by the evil duo. The entire EA storyline has been painful to listen to, but I think prolonged abuse of a small child might just tip me over the edge into non-listening mode.

One thing though: For a child that has witnessed such horror, he sounds remarkably unfazed and normal.

ppeatfruit · 25/04/2016 09:58

I can't quite understand how Henry is not very frightened of knob. Hell stabbed him to protect Henry and he was there!!! fgs. Are the SWs going round the bend??

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/04/2016 09:59

Welcome to the delurkers!

campocaro thanks for posting that - ingenious and also quite poignant. Poor Thomas Rabbit and poor Henwee.

Can't help wondering if, 20 years hence, when Psychotic Henwee Archer has unleashed his terrible vengeance on Ambridge, his defence will be that it all stems from when daddy binned Thomas Rabbit.

ppeatfruit · 25/04/2016 10:00

We cross posted ! Notdeadyet Grin Great minds!

BYOSnowman · 25/04/2016 10:05

Henry is written so badly. What does the child bed to experience to actually show any reaction?? The sw lazily throw in bed wetting and misbehaving at school but show no signs when the kid is on air

By not making him afraid of rob they are not helping Helen

BertrandRussell · 25/04/2016 10:07

Bloody hell - you don't think Jess and Rob are going to get back together, do you? And make one new happy family with Henry, Ethan and Robjunior? Just came to me on a dog walk..........

ApplesinmyPocket · 25/04/2016 10:11

Just to say, well done on the thread title, it makes me smile every time I see it in Active Grin

ppeatfruit · 25/04/2016 10:13

Perhaps the sws are thinking that Henry has removed Custard Gate from his memory. Could that happen?

Gruach · 25/04/2016 10:18

Introducing ...

www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/36083406/im-16-and-i-love-the-archers - the new target audience.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/04/2016 10:28

Worryingly, Gruach, the sixteen year old author of that piece describes himself as an aspiring scriptwriter Shock

The shape of things to come?

R4 · 25/04/2016 10:35

The scriptwriting between HellRob was very good but their interactions with the rest of the world are unrealistic.
If you were clandestinely phoning Kirsty or WA, you would stand at the window so you could spot an approaching Rob. You would not be caught unawares every time by the sound of the door opening..
If you were leaving because you felt downtrodden, then you would leave. Not have a cosy chat first.
All the above about Henry being non-traumatised.
If you were Pat you wouldn't turn into a PatBot. And if you were Tony you wouldn't turn into a None-of-our-business.
If by any chance you turned into a PatBot/NooB but then your DD attempted, uncharacteristically, to kill her DH and your almost-DIL explained why, you wouldn't voluntarily hand over your DGC.
The more it goes on, the more ludicrous it gets.

Are we placing bets on whether Pat'n'Tone contacted Harrison and/or SS? Judging by above ridiculousnesses, I'd say not.

Gruach · 25/04/2016 10:40

Yup.

Remember the New Year's Eve party when no listener on the planet had any clue who was speaking?

Obviously (for fear of ageism accusations) I welcome being part of a diverse audience (and listened to TA myself through my teens) but I'd be sorry if the BBC - who are, after all promoting this article - decide to definitively skew the storylines and production to appeal primarily to teenagers.

Gruach · 25/04/2016 10:42

Oh good Lord.

The teenage boy is probably the new editor.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/04/2016 10:52

That was my thought too Gruach

(although pic of said youth does rather look as if he is 16 going on 65)

R4 · 25/04/2016 10:53

And if you were going to leave your DH to stay with your parents, but felt the urge to be polite and tell him that you are going, don't you think that it would be equally polite to tell your parents the plans, too?

AugustaFinkNottle · 25/04/2016 10:55

If you were leaving because you felt downtrodden, then you would leave. Not have a cosy chat first.

Didn't she tell Kirsty that she wasn't necessarily leaving permanently? If she viewed it as a trial separation it would make sense to talk to Rob before going to discuss why she felt it was necessary.
