But Pat and Tony don't see plenty of Henry. He's either at school or at home. The overnight on Thursday will be the first time in ages they've had him to stay.

BertrandRussell · 23/03/2016 09:16

When have P&T seen Henry? They never do the school run- even though that was what was agreed when the bizarre driving ban was agreed.

EmilyDickinson · 23/03/2016 09:35

Didn't Pat and Tony have Henry to stay the night when he scalded his foot? I think that was only about a week or so ago?

I have my doubts though that Henry actually scalded his foot at all as when Pat put him to bed she said there was nothing to see, it wasn't even red.

Stickerrocks · 23/03/2016 09:36

Who takes over in the shop when Rob rushes out on the off chance that Helen is making a bid for freedom?

Expectantrobot · 23/03/2016 09:48

Hello, lurker putting head above parapet to say, didn't Rob tell Henry to keep the 'living at daddy's old school plan' secret from mummy only. Therefore, left alone with Pat and Tony might he not drop Rob in it and it come out in the open, thus leading to Easter weekend showdown between Helen and Rob?

redshoeblueshoe · 23/03/2016 10:02

That's what I'm hoping Expectant. Emily I did suggest at the time that Ursula may have just pinched Henwee to make him cry, then say the bath was scalding.
I have also noticed on other threads several Archer themed names - if you are lurking feel free to post Smile

I feel sorry for Henwee. No-one seems to care too much about him. He never gives or receives playdates. He doesn't do any clubs or activities. He hardly sees his maternal family; he hardly even sees his mother fgs. He has awful parents as role models. He is forever instructed and bossed about but he never strops back, meekly says "awwwright". He has had all spontaneity and fun squished out of him - have we ever heard him giggle?
He is going to be such a messed-up adult in years to come.

NotdeadyetBOING · 23/03/2016 10:44

Agree about poor old Henwee. Actually think, given his grim situation, he'd be far less compliant than the way he is portrayed not that that should surprise us. For instance, just immediately agreeing to the idea of leaving Loxley B to go to Knob's alma mater. Any normal child would express some reservations about leaving their friends, surely. And by now you'd expect him to be pretty screwed up and acting out (let alone in later years).

Joskar · 23/03/2016 10:56

Is this the longest running thread on MN?

PseudoBadger · 23/03/2016 11:30

I doubt it, there are quite a few that are still going from before I started this series of threads. Some conception, post natal, nobdies (are they still going?!)

OP posts:
PseudoBadger · 23/03/2016 11:31

However they will be longer running time wise but maybe not number of threads

Psuedo Star I bet they have not been kept up by one individual poster

Kr1stina · 23/03/2016 12:55

I don't think Henry had a clue what boarding school is about . Remember he asked if his parents would be staying there too ? He probably thinks it's for the weekend .

If he says anything to anyone, I fear rob will explain it away by saying that Henry is confused and they were taking about sending him at 11.

ElementaryMyDear · 23/03/2016 12:59

Have they got anything like "Goodbye Mr Chips" on TV this weekend? Maybe Henry could artlessly ask Rob if that's what his new school will be like. St Trinian's would be even better.

EmilyDickinson · 23/03/2016 13:38

I wonder if Pat might ask Henry a perfectly natural question about how he's getting on at school, especially given his altercations with Xanthe, and have Henry reply, "I'm going to a new school Daddy says, I'm going to live there with lots of other boys, it will be an adventure."

I'm looking forward to hearing how Ursula deals with that if it comes out at the tea party. I don't think she knows that Rob's told Henry, and I'm not sure she'd think it was wise to do so.

squeaver · 23/03/2016 14:32

Notdeadyet - don't forget, this is The Archers where teenagers, in the midst of their GCSEs and A Levels, enthusiastically agree to leave their family farm and all their mates to go and live near Granny Heatherpet.

All this talk of the culvert is really making me miss Charlie.

VinceNoirLovesHowardMoon · 23/03/2016 14:34

When I was in the TSA I think we had well over 80 before we had them pulled

GypsyFl0ss · 23/03/2016 14:38

I miss Charlie too squeaver. I wish he could come back and be the hero but not shag nor try even to tempt Adam.

EasyToEatTiger · 23/03/2016 16:33

I am curious about Robert Snell. Who is he and what is he doing there? He seems only to appear as arm candy for Lynda. And Coriander Snell? I have listened on and off for years, but I can't remeber anything, anything at all about the Snells apart from Lynda. I just love the idea of making a bed out of a pasting table. Hmm It is wrong on too many levels. I don't like the UnFairbrothers at all. I feel rather sorry for those poor chickens. I hope Charlie comes back. I expect it will be for a police investigation.

EmilyDickinson · 23/03/2016 16:46

Robert Snell is Lynda's husband and quite the nicest man in The Archers I think. I just love the way he completely adores Lynda who is very kind hearted but who can be rather irritating. There was a lovely scene a while ago when he interrupted a conversation she was having with someone else saying that he needed to speak to her about something urgently. As they walked off Lynda asked what he needed to talk to her about and he said, "Nothing, I just thought you looked like you needed rescuing." And he was quite right, she did. So thoughtful and perceptive.

Coriander is his bizarrely named daughter. The other is Leonie.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 23/03/2016 17:58

TSA?

VinceNoirLovesHowardMoon · 23/03/2016 18:06

A mumsnet quiche, now deceased!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/03/2016 18:17

YYY to all the above about Robert! I love Robert. He and Lyndie (as nobody else refers to her, another thing I love) previously lived in Sunningdale. He used to have his own IT company but that went bust. Prior to that, Lynda didn't have paid employment but she managed to get a receptionist job at Grey Gables while they were trying to rebuild their finances. Now they run a B&B from Ambridge Hall as well, with Robert figuring largely in the running, and he also does a bit of handyman stuff (or did, it's not been mentioned for a long time).

L & C are the children of his earlier (failed) marriage to someone else, who as far as I can recall has never featured in TA. I think (but may have made this up) that Lynda used to be Robert's secretary. Surely she wasn't the OW! As far as I can recall, this has never been spelled out, but I hope not.

She desperately wanted to have children, but couldn't, which has been a great sadness for her. Very well handled long-term storyline, I would say.

Leonie is married to James Bellamy, Lilian's son. They have a very young son who I think is called Mungo. Coriander has a young child too, but I can't even remember whether girl/boy, let alone age, name of father or anything else. Blush

recyclingbag · 23/03/2016 18:31

Coriander has baby Oscar - who is probably not a baby anymore. I think there was some friction over parenting styles during one visit.

Gruach · 23/03/2016 18:32

How did I miss James and Leonie's wedding?Wink (Did I actually miss itConfused ?)

Is Coriander's son called Oscar? And does her partner have the same name as an Ambridge man? Can't remember what.
