Do you know that I was 3 months pregnant when the first thread started - DD was 2 yesterday Cake

That must also mean that Poppy Grundy's 2nd birthday has passed by unremarked upon...

BOOP, I just keep thinking how pleased Clarrie must be.

*note: I do know they're not real. Most of the time.

Minimammoth · 20/10/2015 16:57

Thank you Dad3. Presumably they will be selling them at a lower price as a supplier too. It don't add up do it?

DadDadDad · 20/10/2015 17:01

Just checked Lowfield, and Rex came to Ambridge end of April looking to start goose farm, so it's more like 8 months' work. And as I know nothing about profit margins in geese-farming, who knows if the profit will be £10,000 or £40,000 or nothing at all? And that's assuming they sell them all.

LyndaNotLinda · 20/10/2015 17:03

It's really annoying me that David blithely loaned Kenton 15k a few weeks ago and now they're worrying about Pip's salary. If she was really concerned, she'd move back to Brookfield so they could rent out Rickyards.

And why oh why don't they get bloody supermarket delivery?!

Emma handing in her notice is going to push Ruth over the edge, mark my words.

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2015 17:10

Not nepotism Gruach but sex and violence mainly and in the 50s too!!! It's exactly the same age as me give to take 11 days !! So began in the days of rationing and leftover shire horses in Brookfield

BYOSnowman · 20/10/2015 18:19

Not all the geese will survive to meet the dinner plate either

The Beeb is a hot bed of nepotism!

WipsGlitter · 20/10/2015 18:22

Wasn't thee a casual reference from Toby to friends in the city. Are we to assume he's previously made a fortune in stocks and bonds?

And yes, Ruth and her omelette / take away / shopping shite. Get it delivered, move Jill back in. I work FT and still manage to do the shopping.

Did David actually give Kenton the money? Thought we were going have a revelation about Shula and Alistair at that point. strokes chin

BYOSnowman · 20/10/2015 18:27

I know I say this on every thread but there is no way Toby made money in the city or was there long enough to make decent contacts

Gruach · 20/10/2015 19:04

This business of Ruth as the kitchen slave. I'm a bit disappointed in the SWs her. Given her opening position when she married it seems odd that all these years later she is still the default cook and bottle washer.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 20/10/2015 19:06

Oh dear Hellin. Badly done. He's not going to like that is he?

Scarydinosaurs · 20/10/2015 19:07

And Toby will need earplugs

Gruach · 20/10/2015 19:10

I doubt Berrow Farm will ever see any Bridge Farm silage ...

Gruach · 20/10/2015 19:11

I'm buying a hat!

(Poor Ian.)

BYOSnowman · 20/10/2015 19:15

Ooh! What did Helen do?

And why does Charlie sound like he has hypothermia?

Stickerrocks · 20/10/2015 19:15

Hoping that Adam & Charlie are about to compare notes on Knob, but I suppose they have bigger issues to deal with.

StubbleTurnips · 20/10/2015 19:22

BitOut you must be in a similar field to me... I write business contingency and national incident plans.

It would wholly depend on the size of operation and the risk appetite of the board as the whether they had a defined business continuity process. It's quite true to life that many Agri businesses at this level don't have that, although I would've thought F&M would have proved the need for them way back in 04.

Toomuchtea · 20/10/2015 19:22

I thought they were about to compare notes on Knob - definite question in Adam's voice after Charlie's comment that he had to let Rob go.

But then on with the emotion... but oh, poor Charlie. And poor Ian too.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 20/10/2015 19:50

BitOut you must be in a similar field to me

with your posting name, StubbleTurnips, I was imagining an Ambridge kind of field Grin

GruntledOne · 20/10/2015 20:01

Please let this be the moment Charlie tell Adam precisely why he booted Rob, and about the blackmail. It feels like there's this precarious house of cards hiding the truth about him, and that it would only take one little push to bring the whole thing down. The trouble is, waiting to find out which card will fall is getting too stressful.

SevenOhTwo · 20/10/2015 20:03

"I thought they were about to compare notes on Knob - definite question in Adam's voice after Charlie's comment that he had to let Rob go."

Me too! Felt like finally this thread's long-running prediction of Knob's downfall was about to be unleashed. Bit of a let-down.

But I did like the scene - inadvertently did a big 'Awww!' for little vulnerable Charlie at the end - sorry Ian!

SevenOhTwo · 20/10/2015 20:07

Otoh - I don't think I can take any more of the Fairbrethren! They are driving me nuts. They remind me of the chuckle brothers - 'to me Toby', 'to me Rex' and are about as entertaining. Can the geese stampede them or something and leave them running bruised and battered back off to the city?

BYOSnowman · 20/10/2015 20:13

Jill needs to talk to her bees about the fairbrethren

tedhis · 20/10/2015 20:25

Rob was recruited following an international recruitment campaign. His salary must have been immense. He never spent any money, he lived in a small rented cottage, he never went on holiday, never went out for flash dinners, weekends away, no mention of a flash car , no mortgage to pay. He must have many tens of thousands in the bank.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 20/10/2015 20:36

Hoping Adam will remember to ask Charlie about Rob.

Also surely Ed would be the person to run Adam's herd. His cv would just have "good with cattle" written on it.
