Is Ed's wedding very soon?

OP posts:
BitOutOfPractice · 22/05/2015 08:20

Clarrie was there. She was in another room but was referenced several times.

I imagined the stag and hen dos the night before the wedding was all part of the "traditional country wedding" thang.

BertrandRussell · 22/05/2015 09:01

And do you think they let the poor bloody woman try the dress on? What if it doesn't fit? What about shoes and things?

R4 · 22/05/2015 09:09

Sorry, I missed the reference to Clarrie. I heard something about a newly invented silent character an old school chum but missed Clarrie.
She hasn't spoken for a long time - it's all Eddie and Joe doing the nagging - so I hope she's given a speaking part for the wedding.

Shall we run a sweepstake on how many actors they will use to try to represent a barn-ful of wedding guests. My guess is that the budget will stretch to 10.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/05/2015 09:41

I suspect that a lot of people still do have a traditional drinks and takeaway type hen/stag - especially those operating on a tight budget. You just don't hear about normal quiet people, which made this rather refreshing.

ZeroFunDame · 22/05/2015 09:47

10 seems ambitious ... It'll be Oliver and Clarrie telling each other how wonderful everything is.

And Rob sniping on the way, to the point where he, Helen and Henry turn back and go home.

Oh - Joe and Eddie singing.

And as we heard from Emma yesterday we may only hear Ed today. Wonder if we'll get Will's speech.Grin

Plus the Vicar. = 10!

ErrolTheDragon · 22/05/2015 09:54

They can surely do without Rob, H&H (though what you describe would be quite fun). They've got to have Susan, haven't they?

I think they should have Tom somewhere, sadly reflecting on where he went wrong. Or perhaps better Kirsty - since Patrick will presumably be playing the organ? (when are the SWs going to bow to the inevitable on that pairing?)

Very considerate of Alan to only have a Friday available when E&E booked, wasn't it.

ZeroFunDame · 22/05/2015 10:32

Friday?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 22/05/2015 11:05

given helen will have a disastrous wedding/no wedding and we had the tom/kirsty debacle a year ago - this wedding has to go well and show 'true love' always wins through. If something bad happens it will only reinforce in my mind that we are moving to Walford on Am

I was thinking last night that Will giving the speech is a terrible thing but then i remembered all the awful best man speeches i've heard given by supposed friends and it shouldn't be so bad...

I'm sure we will hear ed doing his 'emotional' acting, emma, will, joe and eddie (singing at least), a couple of random characters to set the scene from the back of the church/hall and probably Alan

I'm still unsure why caroline and oliver couldn't have given them a cheque as a wedding present tbh. Why did we need this ridiculous dress sl with a silent clarrie

ppeatfruit · 22/05/2015 11:05

I have a feeling there might be fisticuffs at the wedding with knob collaring the bridegrom in a corner. Or getting Adam in a corner and threatening to 'tell' about Charlie and him.

Icimoi · 22/05/2015 11:20

Boop point for the hen night sewing bee, I thought that was good. But the whole scenario with Clarrie is ludicrous. Can't you just see the AIBU:

My son is getting married today. Money is tight, and the question of what to wear has become a real problem because all my good clothes were destroyed in a flood and my stupid DH hadn't paid the insurance premium so I couldn't get them replaced. However, I decided that the wedding wasn't about me and have sorted out something that I'm OK with.

Suddenly this morning ex employers of my son's turned up with a dress for me to wear. It appears this is meant to be their wedding present to the happy couple (huh?). I suppose it's kind of them, but it feels like charity to me and I feel really awkward about it. Also they never asked me about it and have chosen it for me. Frankly, their assumptions about my dress size are insulting/over-optimistic, and their taste isn't mine. WIBU not to wear it?

trevortrevorslatterfry · 22/05/2015 11:24

Love Clarrie's AIBU icimoi Grin

squeaver · 22/05/2015 11:41

Hang on, did I miss Will telling Ed that he's going to be best man after all? Weird to miss that out surely?

And yes the whole Clarrie dress saga is utterly ridiculous, not least because - surely - Oliver would just have given Ed a nice fat cheque?

Knob and H&H have to be at the wedding. As if he's going to miss out on a hog roast, dressed salmon and cheese plate. Knob definitely does know that Ed said something to David so he's got to bring it up at some point. Just before he makes a speech? Or maybe - we can but dream - he'll cause a scene during Joe and Eddie's musical "entertainment"?

ErrolTheDragon · 22/05/2015 11:50

No, we won't hear from rob because he will have his mouth full. Although perhaps the sight of a dressed salmon will tip him over the edge - fish seem to be a trigger for him.

I'm hoping against hope for nothing dramatic to happen at all. Just a nice simple wedding.

ZeroFunDame · 22/05/2015 12:00

Yes, agree the wedding should be without incident, but I'm very much hoping that, on the periphery, Rob finds someone to fight.

enochroot · 22/05/2015 14:42

I wonder if Charlie has been invited.

Has anyone noticed that he makes little literary quips that other characters don't get? Such as when he asked Pip if her parents liked Dickens.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 22/05/2015 14:49

Yes I noticed that Enoch

Is it to show he's a well educated cosmopolitan man as opposed to a country oik?

Merse · 22/05/2015 14:54

LOVE the idea of Rob having some sort of a meltdown at the sight of a dressed salmon!

MollyAir · 22/05/2015 14:55

The bunting's in the culvert, innit? Where Rob stashed it.

DieselSpillages · 22/05/2015 14:58

along with Linda's dog !

ErrolTheDragon · 22/05/2015 17:10

Oh, I know what incident I'd like to happen - the salmon will mysteriously disappear, and it will turn out that a ravenous Scruff has been lured back by its scent and is busily devouring it. Lynda will be overjoyed, both by Scruff's return and also the demolition of the oppositions fish. Ideally Scruff should also have stolen Rob's jacket to lie on while feasting.

That really is all that's missing from E&Es wedding being perfect, isn't it?

MrsCampbellBlack · 22/05/2015 19:05

Oh that is lovely. Feeling emotional already.

MrsCampbellBlack · 22/05/2015 19:07

Or perhaps not.

Abraid2 · 22/05/2015 19:10

That's lovely: Will FINALLY manning up and putting an end to his selfish jealousy.

Abraid2 · 22/05/2015 19:11

I even like Emmer now--used to find her a bit whiny and entitled.

ZeroFunDame · 22/05/2015 19:11

A thousand BOOPS!
