Sack the Sock - put a sock in it or pull your socks up - frankly we're a bit sick of it. The Archers is shit, discuss it here.

I have it on good authority that this is the thread that people enjoy more than the programme it's about Grin

You are all deluded! There will be no room for UK actors except as the villain.

Mr Cumberbatch (as Rob) will represent the Cabin Fever contingent. The rest of the parts will naturally go to Americans.

Tut ...

GypsyFloss · 09/01/2015 16:46

Neil with the long hair from Coast as opposed to The Young One's could become Jill's new younger man love interest

GypsyFloss · 09/01/2015 16:49

Ok Zero in that case please can we have Dustin Hoffman as Brian. He'd rocked the tasselled loafer look.

FatherHenderson · 09/01/2015 16:56

I love Roger Allam as Brian, but could we maybe get Martin Freeman in there as well? Maybe as Ian?

Now Daniel, who should that be.... I'm off to IMDB to waste some time...

GypsyFloss · 09/01/2015 17:00

Someone exceptionally handsome in a uniform for Dan!

GypsyFloss · 09/01/2015 17:01

Actually change of plan. I'd like Prince Harry for Dan. That'd make Dan slightly less dull I reckon.

PseudoBadger · 09/01/2015 17:29

David Tennant for Jazzer Grin

OP posts:
ZeroFunDame · 09/01/2015 17:31

Oooooh - how could Fallon resist?

GypsyFloss · 09/01/2015 17:36

DT is too scrawny for Jazzer. He's not a man who could shift pig arks.

He could do menacing so could be Charlie or Rob but I quite fancy him for Rotaboy Grin

ZeroFunDame · 09/01/2015 17:41

Bearing in mind the title of this thread I've taken an executive decision and ousted SOC - for the UK/US musical theatre crossover. It must obviously be a joint Russell T Davies / Steven Moffat production. Someone else can suggest a U.S. director ...

This way it will be funny and touching and clever and Andrew Scott can play all the male roles. (Please could Alan Cumming play all the female roles? We know he can do cabaret.)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/01/2015 17:41

Who could be Jim? Having watched Dustin Hoffman in Esio Trot I'd back him for the part.

And the teenage girl from Last Tango in Halifax (I'm a new convert to that) for Feebs?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/01/2015 17:43

Dominic West as Rob?

ZeroFunDame · 09/01/2015 17:44

Ah. I've left out Christopher Eccleston.

Start again.

PhaedraIsMyName · 09/01/2015 17:50

Phaedra you think Tom Hiddlestone is loathsome???

Good grief no. He's lovely. Charlie is loathsome.

PhaedraIsMyName · 09/01/2015 17:52

Someone exceptionally handsome in a uniform for Dan!

He's probably too old but whoever was the captain in Bluestone 42.

enochroot · 09/01/2015 17:57

Peter Egan for Jim, please. He popped up last season in Downton as Rose's father.

I would like some love interest for the older ladies - Jill and Carol could have a cat fight over Jim.

PhaedraIsMyName · 09/01/2015 17:59

Roger Allam as Brian? perfect.

Frances Barbour for anyone?

GypsyFloss · 09/01/2015 18:21

Dominic West. Oh yes please. For anything and everything.

Can we have Tom Hardy for Tom? I also like Rebecca Front for Shula.

FatherHenderson · 09/01/2015 18:26

Rebecca Front would be perfect for Shula, and I second Dominic West for Rob.

Maybe the chap from Broadchurch (Danny's Dad) for Roy?

Andrew Buchan
That could explain why Lizzie did it...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/01/2015 18:27

Frances B would make a nice Jolene. Or maybe Cerys Matthews could play her, she looks right and is a country singer to (cowboy) boot (sorry).

What about Fallon?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/01/2015 18:31

Amelia Bullmore must be in it - bit young but maybe Pat? She has a very determined jawline and looks like she could bust out some Greenham Common stories.

I think it's a shame no-one has started an Ambridge feminist society or reading group or something. I'd love to see Fallon or Alice or someone (even Fees) suddenly go around calling out all the sexist shit like Kenton getting Jolene to clean the thingummy, and of course, HelRob.

PetulaGordino · 09/01/2015 18:34

I adore amelia bullmore

What about Alison steadman? She's a bit older than susan and she doesn't look how I imagine her, but I think she would do the character very well

PseudoBadger · 09/01/2015 18:45

Oh I'm a new convert to Andrew Buchan - I only knew him from The Honourable Woman and didn't like him. I've started watching Broadchurch from the beginning and am drawn to him.

OP posts:
FatherHenderson · 09/01/2015 18:56

I think that Andrew Buchan can look very 'normal' nondescript even, but in some lights rather sexy. Which could be perfect for Roy, who we all didn't really think about, but then everyone kept on saying "isn't he dishy?"

GypsyFloss · 09/01/2015 19:07

Yes to Andrew Buchan for Roy.

When did Tony become vocal again? I feel like I missed a huge chunk of his recovery.
