It's all about the Sons at the moment. Tom is having an identity crisis, Dan is off to Sandhurst, and poor old Adam is working his socks off.

And the winner is Moany..
Closely followed by Hellin...

GypsyFloss · 30/05/2014 19:16

Oohhhhh. I would love to have been there for that. Poor deluded cow. Or should that be non-organic sow.

Iwantacampervan · 30/05/2014 19:27

What is Lilian planning to 'make', or rather get someone else to make for her as her dinner party food was.

At least we were spared Ruth's wailing this evening.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/05/2014 19:39

Oh, how I wanted Moany to ask Hellin when Knob's divorce was going through...

And for Hellin to ask Knob

cheminotte · 30/05/2014 20:45

I was wondering where Tony was going with 'how well do you really know him?'. What will Rob say when he realises Helen has revealed their little secret?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 30/05/2014 21:14

"Rupert". Mark my word....

Icimoi · 30/05/2014 21:16

That reminds me of one of the many annoying things about Piggoi's reaction. When Hellin announced her engagement, why didn't she ask how she could be engaged to a married man? I mean, I know she could be, but usually to someone of Piggoi's generation it would be a bit of a major hurdle and would tend to mean that the engagement would hardly be a matter of unalloyed mass rejoicing.

BasketzatDawn · 30/05/2014 21:36

Call me cynical if you like , but this is something that I've noticed (and find sl annoying) in TA. Someone can get engaged and that's the thing to rejoice, not that traditionally it's a plan to actually get married, even to an adulterer who is still married. I know it's a modern trend and happens in the world outside Ambridge too and I am just an old gimmer. Grin Well, I recall Brendur saying as much to Tom - 'Let's just enjoy being engaged' - and look where that got everyone!

I'd have expected Pat to ask her weird daughter about Jess and the divorce. Although I still hate the NewTony voice, tonight he was right about things, and I think tonight he sounded less barracking in his tone. It struck me too that Helen and Tony are quite similar in always thinking they are right.

I do love having Tiger and Puss back - I was thinking 'Lillian doesn't actually get her hands dirty, does she?' when she was at Chelsea; then I had the same thought about cooking, and laughed when she mentioned the catering. How did she and Matt resolve their upset over the affair? I think I missed the whole Russia episode, certainly I missed their reconciliation. I wonder if they went to Relate. Wink

I have been away for a bit and not only had this thread fallen off TIO, but also my various devices had signed me out of mn and I forgot my post heartbleed password! Panic.

Anyway. Phew. I'm back in.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 31/05/2014 07:28

pasbeaucoup It had comletely slipped my mind, until you reminded me, that I had a new "never to be written down anywhere"Hmm heartbleed password.

I have forgotten it.ShockSadAngry

SquirrelledAway · 31/05/2014 10:30

How about the road plans go ahead, but an archaeological survey finds something to do with the Civil War battle site slap bang in the middle of the planned route across Brookfield and it gets scrapped? That might open up some possibilities of a new touristy centre thingy too.

stilllearnin · 31/05/2014 10:45

It is staggering that Peggy is as blind to Rob as Helen is - although it'll be quite satisfying. However, the news that Rob got Tom the job and the clashes over the business is going to turn Tony up to 11 before the final comeuppance. Nobody at all has pointed out that Rob is still married. I was brought up by liberal but also traditional parents. They would not judge me but would ask how the divorce is coming on!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 31/05/2014 10:52

Oh wow! I hadn't realised they actually recorded at Chelsea, last week. Apologies if anyone's linked to this already - I may have missed it - but it's so lovely.

Warning - character photos!

DadDadDad · 31/05/2014 13:49

I'd just like to brag that up-thread (23 May) I made the link between Rob and Canada, and suggested he'd found Tom the job before it was revealed this week.

PseudoBadger · 31/05/2014 14:27

Good work everyone. I've been very busy but am glad to read all your wonderfully insightful posts Flowers

Oh don't do things by halves those TA producers!! Thanks for the link Zero

Thanks Grin how are things going Psuedo and them little psuedos?

3littlefrogs · 31/05/2014 15:52

Peggy isn't a particularly good judge of character.
Her first husband was an abusive alcoholic.
Then she had a bit of a fling with Godfrey Wendover who was just after her money. (David referred to him as Captain Pugwash).
Poor old Jack saved her really.

OddFodd · 31/05/2014 18:24

I've been away all half term so only caught up earlier today. WTAF!!! I can't believe that Peggoi didn't mention that Rob is still married. It seemed very unlikely.

I too am already bored by SAVE although the kitchen storyline is amusing me slightly

Bluestocking · 31/05/2014 18:36

I thought it was very out of character for Piggoi to be all gushy wushy about Hellqueen's engagement to Fishy Knob. She regards herself as an arbiter of moral probity and I think she would have given Cheesey the full cats-bum treatment with added pearl-clutching about the very idea of a still-married man proposing marriage.

ComposHat · 31/05/2014 22:09

I should feel sorry for Helen and Tony in that both of them have had a lot of trauma in their lives.

Tony - useless drunkard of a father, cold and unforgiving mother who favours his children over him, loss of a son etc.
Helen- John, anorexia, Greg and other romantic disasters, but I can't help but thinking...is there any chance another vintage Fergie might crush them too?

I get these experiences have shaped their characters for the worse, but I can't help thinking, 'will you shut the fuck up your pair of self righteous, self pitying boring arses?' each and every time I hear their voices.

DOes this make me a horrible person?

cheminotte · 01/06/2014 07:18

Well they're not actually real Compos ! Better that you have that reaction rather really not giving two figs about a character. When I have that in a book, I just give up.

GypsyFloss · 01/06/2014 08:16

I agree Bluestocking . Maybe as she'd already been gushing about their relationship she didn't feel she could back track. She also can't really afford to alienate anyone else from Bridge Farm either.

Sneezecakesmum · 01/06/2014 12:02

Can I join? I am an archers fan but inclined to miss the daily offering so catch up on omnibus and iplayer.

Listening in Shock horror as the evil rob removes Hellin from her support network and even manoeuvres tom off to Canada! Bbc have obviously been reading the 'controlling mans handbook'!

Can it be more obvious that he is sucking up to Peggy and Hellin because of Peggy's money?

Actually feeling sorry for self pitying Tony!

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 01/06/2014 12:05

Rob and Hellin's relationship is actually ticking boxes one by one of relationships I've seen in RL and thought in an undefined way were controlling and wrong. It's fascinating.

ppeatfruit · 01/06/2014 12:15

I love the competitive grandmas' theme with Linda's handmade llama baby blanket and Lil's green eyes Grin. And it's a boy!! so we'll have an argument over names;will it be Jamie or Leo?
