It's all about the Sons at the moment. Tom is having an identity crisis, Dan is off to Sandhurst, and poor old Adam is working his socks off.

Another one delighted at the Granny show. Lils and Lynda are my favourite characters except for Paul the aberration. I've also loved the demise of the Midnight Walkers, all a bit Spinal Tap Grin.

The Bridge farm lot are going to implode, Peggy is far too involved now and calling it wrong at every step, Tony is one more rant away from a heart attack and if Tom and Rob are forming an alliance only doom can follow.

I know we're a few pages away but can I propose 'dipping our boas in the guacamole' for consideration as title for the next thread?

ppeatfruit · 21/05/2014 09:24

Sorry I was totally with you RocknRoll until you came up with that title I must be thick but I'm not following the boas and guacamole allusions Confused Grin

TallGiraffe · 21/05/2014 09:39

It was at the party - she's not totally lost it!

ppeatfruit · 21/05/2014 09:56

Ohh Clarrie's 60th?? i missed it ,blast! Was it good?

unitarian · 21/05/2014 11:05

I'm hoping for 'boas in the guacomole' too but 'smuggling geckos' is also very tempting!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 21/05/2014 11:06

It was utterly wonderful, ppeat! You've got time to catch it on i-player if you're quick. Last Thursday (or listen to the omnibus). David went as Marc Bolan, Joe went as Clint Eastwood and Tony went as John Travolta. Lynda was Beverley from Abigail's Party and David thought she hadn't come in fancy dress at all.

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/05/2014 11:39

So, are we all looking forward to the demise of TAAAARM AAARCHER SAAAUSAAAGES and the launch of THROBBING CHIPOLAAATAAAS?
(funded by Bank Of Gran)

Also, Mystic Bore Predicts that Rollo will agree to perform at LoxFest only to drop out at the last minute, to be replaced by... PC Burns! Who handily turns out to be a talented singer/musician, causing Fallon to see him In A New Light Grin

ppeatfruit · 21/05/2014 12:15

Thanks AllMimsy I remember some of it laughing at Dave thinking that Linda hadn't come in fancy dress! (i hope she 'd put a cushion up her frock Alison Steadman was pg at the time!) Maybe I was put off my concentration by dh talking to me or something disgraceful like that Grin. I don't remember the remark about boas in the guacomole maybe it wasn't in the omnibus edition.

ppeatfruit · 21/05/2014 13:37

Yes heard it now ! That was hilarious' Dave's boa hanging in the guacomole! a brilliant title RocknRoll.

OneEggIsAnOeuf · 21/05/2014 14:16

Childish smirk at Lil and Lindy 'did you find your clematis' Grin

ppeatfruit · 21/05/2014 15:24

OMG I AM Linda Shock I can't get agapanthus to grow anywhere in my garden !!

JollyGolightly · 21/05/2014 16:45

ppeat it likes its roots to be held tightly, have you tried it in a pot?

ppeatfruit · 21/05/2014 17:08

Yes thanks Jolly i did try the bulbs in an (admittedly large) pot but I have alkili soil are they happier in a more acid environment?

unitarian · 21/05/2014 17:21

I have one clump which does badly in 'good' soil and one clump producing beautiful blooms in really poor, dry soil.

ppeatfruit · 21/05/2014 17:26

But full sun yes unitarian?

ppeatfruit · 21/05/2014 17:29

Do they self seed? (I know I should be talking to the gardening enthusiasts on Talk Grin) sorry for going off at a tangent!

JollyGolightly · 21/05/2014 17:41

When I went to NZ they were growing in massive drifts by the roadside. The soil is basically volcanic ash and really fertile but I don't know if it would be acidic.

unitarian · 21/05/2014 18:00

Both clumps in full sun.

unitarian · 21/05/2014 18:14

The prolific one already has leaves about a foot high. The other is only about 4 inches high as yet.
Both are split from the same clump at a previous house. The bad one is in well drained, well dug soil. The good one is jammed up against the front of the house in a narrow, stoney bed with lots of things, including a huge climbing rose, right next to it.

nauticant · 21/05/2014 18:34

I'm rather amused by the segue into GQT.

Kernowal · 21/05/2014 19:09

Oh thank goodness for that, it's only the pigs. Now perhaps Tony will stop blathering on.

unitarian · 21/05/2014 19:18

R4 listeners are an eclectic bunch!

LillianGish · 21/05/2014 19:44

They need to have their roots constricted which is why one jammed against house is doing well otherwise they just produce lots of leaf.

BitOutOfPractice · 21/05/2014 20:45

My BF phoned at 7:14. Angry I can only assume he no longer loves me

ErrolTheDragon · 21/05/2014 20:58

I'd guess there's a fair-sized intersection of the group who like TA and the group who like GQT. (Have they ever done a GQT from Ambridge?)
