It's all about the Sons at the moment. Tom is having an identity crisis, Dan is off to Sandhurst, and poor old Adam is working his socks off.

Much more realistic that Tom's meltdown is over use of non-organic pig feed than the whole John business which I never felt was very convincing. Do you think it was all in his letter to Kirsty which she burned (actually I wonder if that letter actually did burn)?

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 18/05/2014 22:47

OneWaySystemBlues, thanks for that link, very useful when the sunny days make me forget the time!

I missed the last two episodes, major disaster has struck I see! No wonder Tom is lying low. What a (non-organic) pickle he's got himself into.

EBearhug · 18/05/2014 23:03

I'm not sure if that letter did actually burn by the way Alice was going, "oh er, it's this bag, isn't it?"

Icimoi · 18/05/2014 23:42

What puzzles me about the pig feed thing all round is the fact that Tom was so very angry about how the TB threat might bring down his business. If he knew he'd done something that was an absolute cert to destroy the business, you'd think that if anything he'd be quite pleased at the prospect of being able to palm off the blame. He'd have to be a fantastically good actor (i.e. Tom, not the actor playing him) to manage not to arouse anyone's suspicions at all.

However, the fact that he's not returning any calls certainly looks like he knows that the pigshit will have hit the fan and he's keeping his head down.

Icimoi · 18/05/2014 23:45

Perhaps we'll discover that Tom asked Kirsty in his letters to tell PatnTony to hide the incriminating feed and invoice, and then he'll blame her for burning the letters and ruining the family business.

Must admit, though, I was getting as pissed off as Pat was at Moany's constant ranting. Mind you, I was listening just after spending an hour listening to my mother moaning for England, that could have affected my tolerance levels.

unitarian · 19/05/2014 00:42

Rob's really keen to take over a non-organic farm 'for Henry', isn't he?

DieselSpillages · 19/05/2014 05:52

you'd have though Tom could have at least put the non organic feed into old oragnic bags....like when you put a frozen lasagne into a nice dish to pass it off as homemade Blush

mummytime · 19/05/2014 06:09

I just wonder how desperate Rob is to get Bridge farm to be non-Organic?
I still wonder if there was a surprise in Jess's Dad's will?

PseudoBadger · 19/05/2014 06:54

Oh Knob was awful! "So why don't you give up this silly organic business now then, there's a good girl"

Yes. Next it will be "So why don't you give up this silly cheese making. You can always get it ready made from a shop y'know". Having said that, Helen didn't put up a very spirited response for the organic movement.

I also agree with Diesel about decanting the non-organic into organic sacks but decided that if there were too many "you'd have thought" then there would be no storylines.

Panzee · 19/05/2014 07:09

Oh, I've got a lot of catching up to do! Have been insanely busy at work so haven't been listening, and this thread dropped off my list!

mummytime · 19/05/2014 08:12

I'm starting to get a vague memory of something months ago about a feed delivery and Rob being around. But I'm not sure if I'm right or its just imagination.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 19/05/2014 08:20

By the way, does anyone else think Pat killed the mother of the hoglets now being cared for at Brookfield? She said when she was driving to Organics the other day that she had run over something small, a rabbit or a hedgehog. Hours later Jill found the abandoned hoglets in the greenhouse at Brookfield. Is this some sort of deep symbolism?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 19/05/2014 08:20

I seem to vaguely remember Tom having a cash flow problem a few months ago - and borrowing money from the farm account to pay.... something. Was it a feed bill? Would the non-organic feed be traceable to Bridge Farm's accounts?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 19/05/2014 08:28

Grin Could be Mimsy...

Perhaps the death of the mummy hedgehog and subsequent orphanage and fostering of the children represents Pat's distancing herself from her DCs and their coming under other influences or being released into the wild....

Hardy, Shakespeare or just Life?

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 19/05/2014 08:54

Proud moment this morning in my household: 22mo dd ran to the radio saying "Archers! Archers!" Grin

R4 · 19/05/2014 09:30

Very good indoctrination training on your part pasbeaucoup. Next stage is to learn the difference between 7:02am and 7:02pm.Grin

ppeatfruit · 19/05/2014 09:51

Yes Zero I. I don't remember overinfestment could you explain please? It really does seem that the SWs have something against organic farming poor pat and tony with their principles. Do you think that they are writing with symbolic intent; mentioning the hedgehogs rather than giving useful information on caring for hedgehog orphans?(sorry my sentence construction is not brilliant!).

This must the only thread on Fun that mentions Stockhausen, Munchausen and Shakespeare on one page FCS. What an esoteric lot we all are !! I say we but I'm a bit of lightweight when it comes to heavy classical allusions, I agree with Sir Thomas about Stockhausen Grin

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 19/05/2014 10:02

"Over-infested" was a rather splendid mistype. Don't recall whose invention - but it certainly entertained the (previous?) thread!

The Archers blog is all about hedgehogs!

ppeatfruit · 19/05/2014 10:26

Thanks for that Zero another great way of putting off the washing up!

I'm waiting for the delivery of a new battery run lawn mower and the daisies are blowing in the wind outside. I'm praying it comes before the next rainstorm arrives!
