Lucky her Grin and you Laundry Grin

Shallishanti · 19/03/2014 13:32

so Brian can't cook?
nice one, Jenny Grin
however ludicrous her kitchen desires I have to agree that he owes her- not just the love child sitch but her general handmaidening

JessieMcJessie · 19/03/2014 13:51

I actually disagree with Jenny being a Daily Mail reader. That would be Susan. To my mind Jenny is Torygraph through and through, and fancies herself as a bit highbrow- probably enjoys the theatre reviews despite hardly ever getting to London (though she manages an annual trip to Stratford, probably with some book club friend of whom we've never heard mention on air). I always get the sense that JD is a bit above human interest stories and house prices, and she is most definitely not anti immigration or a casual racist.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/03/2014 13:55

Yes - in addition to the gay and black sons-in-law, she's perfectly happy with Eastern European pickers. Whatever her faults, she's not the DM type. Borsetshire Life is her favourite publication, surely?

BasketzatDawn · 19/03/2014 14:27

Part of JD's liberalism re- 'different' SILs etc is that she has always put family first, esp her offspring. And she has been a mother for so long, all her adult life in fact, that she probably knows no different. She just accepts her children as they are.

I'm with those who find the mega-kitchen story a bit too much, but it is entertaining in a 'whateva next' kind of way. Regarding Ruari (trying very hard ot get the spelling Irish rather than Scots Gaelic), she has never blamed the child for his parents' failings. What age is he now? I was thinking he'll fast be a teenager? I like the idea of Brine bringing in a Scanda to do his catering. However, she may well want an Ikea aka flat pack kitchen .....

northender · 19/03/2014 14:56

Just heard last nights, is Rob needing to borrow a bike of any significance? Maybe I'm over thinking thingsGrin

MikeTheShite · 19/03/2014 15:59

Just saw the end of the Alan Titchmarsh show, saw he had a Ambridge sign up.
Did anyone catch it?

mannbookeriwish · 19/03/2014 17:13

Ruari was born nov 02 so still 11

stealthsquiggle · 19/03/2014 17:29

I had never realised that Ruari was almost exactly the same age as DS Blush - and he's at a boarding school, in Borsetshire, right? I bet he's at DC's school or would be if he weren't fictional

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 19/03/2014 17:44

Hmmm, there's been no mention of Ruairi taking any entrance exams. It seems Sherborne doesn't pre-test in yr 6 or 7 - so perhaps he will be continuing the family tradition.

HolidayCriminal · 19/03/2014 18:05

60k? Really? I was thinking the number must be 30-40k.
I believe the kitchen plot.

stealthsquiggle · 19/03/2014 18:13

Very few schools test in Y6 for Y9 entry, so I wouldn't expect him to be taking exams yet.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 19/03/2014 18:16

I don't think the figure's been mentioned, Holiday, but Alice said 'Have they put on an extra nought?' which has led to fevered speculation about what the quote might be.

TheShimmeringPussycat · 19/03/2014 18:33

It's all this stuff about other people's kids' weddings, and Peggy's Announcement. It's got Jenny wanted to make a show of how much money they've got - and of course with the subtext of R[oary]'s existence.

AskBasil · 19/03/2014 18:47

ROFL at the idea that your wife not cooking your dinner is akin to terrorism.

Jenny Bin Laden, the Ambridge Terror.

PigletJohn · 19/03/2014 18:54

Alice might have thought that £20K was reasonable for a big posh kitchen, even though she might not spend that much herself.

Scuttlebug · 19/03/2014 18:56

Jenny kitchen swing-bin larder more like.

Ive heard via archers addicts on FB..that the actress playing Helen is up the duff in RL.

Wonder what the SW will do with that impending maternity Leave?

GypsyFloss · 19/03/2014 19:07

Oh no sick cow is deaded cow.

kernowal · 19/03/2014 19:13

Oh David, you little love. That's just what Roooth needs to hear.

GypsyFloss · 19/03/2014 19:15

"You and me and Gran against the world" I think you mean Tom!

GypsyFloss · 19/03/2014 19:16

I suspect a miscarriage is on the cards after Rooth and Daveed's lovely chat sadly.

BlackeyedSusan · 19/03/2014 19:17

massive debt and going bust here we come?

GypsyFloss · 19/03/2014 19:22

Looks like it. Kirsty just doesn't seem the type though so I'm hoping for a last minute road to Damascus moment.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/03/2014 19:22

Looking forward to tomorrows already: 'Brian hits rock bottom'

Poor cow. I do hope it was a one-off not something that will spread to the rest of the herd or heaven forfend, affect the precious porkers.

Ah, David.... on course for either of my predictions of either carrying on calmly or being gutted if R miscarries.

Back in the real world, the correct solution to stirfry or steak is for one person to do the stirfried veg and noodles and the other cook teriyaki steak.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/03/2014 19:25

massive debt and going bust here we come?

gah. An unfortunate convergence of Brenda's return and Jenny (thinking only of her entitlement of a megakitchen) going on about not compromising or whatever it was.
