Is Helen Archer the most annoying pregnant person ever, but is heading for a fall...

... maybe from her step class.

Although I cannot stand her, and find her smugness annoying enough to batter the radio, I feel a bit sad that they may make something bad happen to the baby becuase she is a bit organic.

She's going to have to be coptered into some heinous birth situation deffo Helen! The Archers IS a morality tale, she IS going to come a cropper!
Grin
sorry but that tightassed woman is fictional so I'm allowed!

EdgarAirbombPoe · 08/11/2010 18:37

:) i'm as anti-interventionist as you get,. but i still see C-section writ large on Helens pregnancy bump (if such a thing is in the plot, and this isn't jsut made-up).

it is fiction. we are allowed.

SpringHeeledJack · 08/11/2010 18:40

but her voice

aaaaaarghgghhghghg

NorkilyChallenged · 08/11/2010 18:42

Helen was so dreadful talking to Emma, but it was (as people have already said) completely in character. And actually, it's quite realistic - I do know some women who have been like that while pregnant with their first.

Be interesting to see what they do with this storyline (though the whole "stealing Emma's baby" thing would be annoyingly ott and soapish imo)

I've got a theory that mad Will is going to do something awful to nice Nic, especially as Nic and Clarrie are now such good mates, and this will be the major story line,
Mind you I also fancy placing a wager on a deranged Helen stealing a healthy baby.

(fortunately my RL lacks drama Grin)

Northernlurker · 09/11/2010 08:13

Domestic violence is certainly a strong runner sadly. Poor Clarrie. (and Nic obviously)

Longstocking2 · 09/11/2010 09:41

oh lordy, do you really think they're going to do domestic violence on the ARchers?
I have to go sit down and have a cup of tea.

Northernlurker · 09/11/2010 16:11

Actually they've done it before. There was Kathy raped by the horrible Owen and Paul Johnson was pretty vile to Christine at points. I think there was a barmaid at the Bull - Nora? whose boyfriend was abusive and the nasty Simon Pemberton hit either Shula or Debbie - can't remember which because he was seeing both of them!

boogeek · 09/11/2010 17:59

Agree re Will, he is slightly unhinged. Mic will probably speak to Ed, or perhaps hold Emmur's baby, and it will push him over the egde.

boogeek · 09/11/2010 17:59

Um, Nic

Longstocking2 · 10/11/2010 09:18

respect to your memory northernlurker

Yes! I think it would be great if Ed got Nic pregnant and then Will could go into some kind of heinous murderous rage and be got rid of and that posh boy Harry is it? Jazzer's flat mate, he could suddenly reveal that he's an experienced game keeper and then we'd have a non mad keeper for once.

The keeper should spend his time shagging posh ladies in his hut I mean that's tradition.

There isn't enough extra marital shagging imho.
Sad

NigellaTufnel · 11/11/2010 22:28

I reckon Helen's on Mumsnet.

We'd know if she was, Nigella, because she'd be telling us that we're doing it all wrong and that she knows a better way.

And we'd all want to kill her with a week-old kipper. Grin

NigellaTufnel · 12/11/2010 21:52

She'd be on the feeding forums berating anyone who even looked at a bottle of formula for a child under 12 months.

longstocking

you are absolutely right more ex-marital shagging!

(the Brian/late Siobhan story line was truly gripping, even if the spawn was Ruuury)

HumphreyCobbler · 12/11/2010 22:13

The Brian/Siobhan/Jennifer love triangle was the Archer's best moment. It has never risen to those heights since imo.

traceybath · 12/11/2010 22:16

Well they reckon that the big xmas storyline is going to involve helen losing the baby and then potentially snatching Emmas.

Helen is horrid but she always has been.

HumphreyCobbler · 12/11/2010 22:22

I remember Helen being particularly nasty to Hayley after John died and Hayley had helped Tom with the pig business. I have never forgiven her

iwastooearlytobeayummymummy · 12/11/2010 22:22

tracey

as the Archers is so not RL I would love this story line Grin

(Mind you when I had DD1 in 1989 there really was a very infamous baby snatching incident, and it was absolutely terrifying,
it led to the introduction of much more stringent security measures in maternity units).

traceybath · 12/11/2010 22:27

I'm not sure what I want the big storyline to be but really don't want it to involve Will or Ed Grundy. It really annoys me how they've changed Will's character and made him to be so horrid . . .

Humphrey - totally agree re. Helen.

Hopefully it will be that Sam re-appears and Ruth skips off into the distance with him . . .

jangly · 12/11/2010 22:32

Helen herself was born with something wrong with her hip. If I recall rightly she had to have it in plaster for the first few months of her life. It was all quite heart wrenching at the time. Perhaps her baby will have something similar to contend with.

traceybath · 12/11/2010 22:35

I think there will be a murder and it will involve the Grundys.

Tolalola · 12/11/2010 22:40

I agree Tracey, it does seem like a murderous Grundy encounter is being set up, but I hope that's not it.

Helen baby-snatcher appeals much more, somehow to my evil side.

Also agree that it is SO annoying the way they've twisted Will to be the 'bad' one when he was always the much more likeable of the two.

traceybath · 12/11/2010 22:43

I know the script-writers always do that - like Linda who can actually be utterly lovely but they always seem to want to ridicule her.

And the whole Will thing because of course all of us would have been so accepting of our partner shagging our sibling and plotting to run off etc etc

Northernlurker · 12/11/2010 22:50

Well if they were planning on a babynapping they won't be now Eastenders is doing it in a particularly loathsome way!
