Do I want Loola or Streety????

I need to get a (very) cheap second hand parent facing pram. I have a pliko which I love but dd hates as it faces out. I mostly use the bus/walk and don't have much storage space. I'm erring toward the streety but have no practical or visual experience of either.

Please help me

I have a loola up and wouldn't recommend. Search my posts for "loola". I have quite long rants about it

honeydragon · 03/07/2010 13:06

ooh thank you will have alook.

will wait and see if the streety gets slated now - then what will I do?

I love my Streety! Have used it since DD was born with carrycot/carseat and now pushchair. Love the rear-facing-ness. However, be aware it cannot be folded while rear-facing, so if you needed to fold it to get on the bus you really couldn't (you'd have to get baby out, remove seat (not one-handed easily) replace seat forward facing (again, not easy 1-handed) then fold it).

For this reason, now DD is 14mo I'm looking for a lightweight buggy, but still love my Streety!

honeydragon · 03/07/2010 15:40

thankyou - might still consider it, it doesn't look as big as the pliko for taking up space when up

I hated the Streety. It's a nightmare going up and down kerbs, it's front heavy or something.

Bugaboo Bees are the best rear facers (IMO!) but not cheap.

honeydragon · 03/07/2010 15:58

i can't afford bee - basic and parent facing aren't compatible in pram shopping are they?

My friend is selling a Petite Star Kurvi but you need to remove the seat to fold when in rear facing if thats a problem.
Its nice and light.
My e-mail is [email protected] if you want me to pass on her details if interested.

honeydragon · 03/07/2010 18:48

horsemadgal Thankyou. I think they are lovely - but I need something I can fold up on the bus, thats why I love my Pliko but dd hates forward facing. I even would consider a pliko switch if I could find a reasonable price.

Gah, flippin babies and their wanting to interact with you

I was looking at the streety as apparantly there is a knack to folding them with the seat in the rear position but now I am beginning to doubt that too.

I am going to be using a sling constantly aren't I?

I haven't found a knack for folding it - it says you can't do it, and, the way it folds, you can't. It just doesn't seem to work. If you're in Gloucestershire, you're welcome to come and look at mine...

honeydragon · 03/07/2010 19:37

No, I think I've been put off , thank god for mumsnet, at least you can speak to people who have used the blasted things. Surely something other than bugaboo is out there that folds????

Mamas & Papas Sola is a good pushchair. Again you can't fold it up with the seat facing rear but my friend says it is light enough and easy enough to switch the seat around with her baby inside.
Unfortunately not cheap at £250.

How about a HAUCK manhattan on the kiddcare website for less then £200

horsemadgal · 03/07/2010 22:09

You'd think someone could invent something easy to fold rear facing wouldn't you?
Even the Bee isn't the easiest of folds (and I love the Bee!)

carrielou2007 · 03/07/2010 22:42

Can't recomend the streety sorry, I've had three switches though and quite liked them? The older ones though (empire) were much lighter and easier tp push could push one handed and very easy to fold RF. The newer ones I had (horrible brown check and lovely blue denim) could not be pushed very easily and made my wrists hurt, ds was only 7/8 weeks at the time? Bought my empire one for 73 quid sold for 100 so just keep looking

honeydragon · 03/07/2010 23:01

thanks carrie

Meant to say I had a streety but not at all for me and didn't fold in one piece when RF so waster of time for me.

doughnutty · 03/07/2010 23:37

I quite like my Loola but looked at the Streety when pg. Wouldn't recommend it unless you're a midget though. It looked like a dolls pram.

honeydragon · 03/07/2010 23:52

Guess I'm looking for a switch then

I have a loola and i really like it. Before i got it i read on here and everyone moaned about it but i saw one second hand and cheap so i just went for it.

Its lovely to push. Might be a bit of a pain on the bus if you needed to fold it. Is okay where i am because you don't need to fold buggys. Folds up pretty small (i keep mine in a small cupboard)

dizzymac · 04/07/2010 08:29

I've had my Loola Up for 4 weeks now and actually really enjoy pushing it. It fits well into my tiny KA boot and I find the ride very smooth over paths.

honeydragon · 04/07/2010 10:54

Its the folding on the bus I have the problem with , it doesn't look like it will be possible.

stillsurprised · 04/07/2010 11:00

I find the loola huge when it's up but it does fold very small. I also find it heavy to push and hard to steer but mine is pretty old and battered (was second-hand when I got it). If you're not put off and anywhere near Devon I wouldn't want much for it!

SagacityNell · 04/07/2010 11:12

The Loola, Loola Up and Streety are made by the same ppl. And they are all similar. FWIW my Loola up chassis will fit in my friends old KA but the seat needed some work to squash in.

honeydragon · 04/07/2010 13:11

not near devon sorry, i'm nowing looking at secondhand pliko switchs too but they are still quite expensive .... arrrgh, why can't she face forward without complaining??

OP posts:
weddingseason · 04/07/2010 14:27

Don't buy a Streety - awkward to push, rubbish wheels, seat never seems that comfortable and the bit you pull up to fold on mine has broken after only 6 months of maybe twice a week use.
