misdee · 01/06/2010 16:46
suitable for a toddler and baby. ideally one that can take a carrycot. because i am fed up of looking, and dont really wanty a tandem.
misdee · 01/06/2010 16:47
should add door is 72cm wide.
am missing my huge doors at the bungalow
Pootles2010 · 01/06/2010 16:53
Dammit was going to say city mini but thats literally 1 cm too wide for your doors...
misdee · 01/06/2010 16:55
unfolded dimesions make the city mini 76cm
i am going to end up with a tandem arent i? which makes the front step hard to negoitate
Pootles2010 · 01/06/2010 16:57
Oh sorry i just got that from the website. May well have done cm/inches conversion wrong.
I'm guessing sling + pushchair is out of the question? How old is toddler - could you get one of those ride-on steps?
misdee · 01/06/2010 17:00
i still sling the toddler now, so def a possibility, but wont want to be carrying one all the time.
elk4baby · 01/06/2010 17:17
I've come across Stroll-air my duo, but it's 73cm (I think that's the narrowest doubles can be)... can you make your door wider ?
The alternative would be to park your buggy in the garage/shed, if you have one.
withorwithoutyou · 01/06/2010 17:18
I looked at the silvercross twin (pop duo?) and that seemed quite narrow, don't remember measurements though.
misdee · 01/06/2010 18:01
i dont have a garage, and nowhere dry enough to store outside the front door unfortunatly.
cant get access through the back gate anymore due to kids trampoline.
StantonLacy · 01/06/2010 19:25
I honestly don't think you're going to be able to find a side by side narrower than 73cm. The Phil & teds classic twin is the narrowest I could find, but at 73cm it looks like its still too big for your door (only just scrapes through mine). I do feel for you, it's a pain isn't it ?
I know you said you didn't want a tandem but.......what about the Baby Jogger City Select ? It looks fantastic and the baby can still face you, unlike the standard P & T tandems. Just a thought!
playftseforme · 01/06/2010 19:30
2010 version of the mountain buggy is 73 cm - I did a LOT of research into my double buggy when I bought recently because I have a v narrow front door. I have gone with the Baby Jogger City Select in the end - just waiting for the second seat unit to arrive, but have it set up as a single for now and it's lovely....
Pawslikepaddington · 01/06/2010 19:37
Why don't you open the buggy outside the front door? Facing into the house if it's raining? That's what we used to do and it worked fine. It is a bit of a pain, but it's not forever.
misdee · 01/06/2010 21:31
because last time i opened a double up outside and put the kids in it, the neighbours cat got in without me noticing and set up camp in my bedroom. not ideal with cat-allergic dd's lol.
sweetkitty · 01/06/2010 21:48
oh stop teasing
nothing nicer than a wee newborn I'm snuggling mine just now
A M&P Twin Aria is narrow but utter rubbish IME
sweetkitty · 01/06/2010 21:56
You definitely cannot get a P&T?
I have a Vibe and it is fab. Huge but fab
misdee · 01/06/2010 21:58
you have a ds? wow, whats that like after all girls?
i would prefer not to get a p+t, as worried about bumping the back child in the seat getting on and off the step. i borrowed my friends e3 for our holiday, and found the basket scrapped on the step a lot. and had a close call with the seat as well.
katiepotatie · 01/06/2010 22:00
We looked everywhere for a narrow side by side, and ended up getting the Silvercross Pop Duo, I do have to keep it in the shed though (not much help sorry)
sweetkitty · 01/06/2010 22:04
Am still in shock TBH, he's just a baby just now but nappy changes are erm different. He's our last though, no no5s for us
The P&T isn't that bad on steps until the second toddler seat is on IYSWIM, do you need to bump it on the step all the time or could you carry them in or is that a bit stupid?
Thing is with a sidebyside you really need big air tyres, anything with small Maclaren type wheels is rubbish and the weight distribution affects it as well, so a flimsy sidebyside would be a nightmare to steer.
misdee · 01/06/2010 22:06
might ask my dad to build a shelter outside the front door and padlock it up like i do with the red wagon now.
am glad this terrain is arriving this week though, as dd3 is really unwell and hasnt got any energy to walk anywhere. poor girl is sleeping a lot. 5years old, and back in a buggy for short trips
