Do I really need a Mountain Buggy for DC3? (already have P&T)

Come convince me I shouldn't get a Mountain Buggy & Carrycot for DC3

I already have a P&T which is fine but not great for steering one handed

ohhh mountain buggy is much better.

although i hate not seeing them. which is why i have a stroll-air my duo on order

that's what you really want. isn't it?

thisisyesterday · 09/12/2009 20:41

stroll air

SuWoombOfImmaculateConception · 09/12/2009 20:42

I hated the second hand mountain buggy/ carrycot combo I bought. Sold it before DC3 arrived and bought a P&T.

Divatheshopaholic · 09/12/2009 20:45

if needed one handed then go for mountain buggy. i had mb since ds was 6m old then dd was just 3. i needed to hold her hands all the time, and we loved mb.
when ds born i had bugaboo cameleon with board and toddler seat, which dd loved. i hated

EldonAve · 09/12/2009 20:48

thisisyesterday - I'm quite happy not to see them but figured I would see the baby for a while with the carrycot option

SuWoo - why did you hate it?

I was thinking I could use it now with just DC2 in & DC1 walking
I'm hoping DC2 might walk everywhere by May but I might still need to use the P&T for the 1st school run

lol eldon. i will be selling my mountain buggy when the stroll-air arrives if you're interested???

tis fairly old though

SuWoombOfImmaculateConception · 09/12/2009 20:54

Mainly because it was (or seemed) too big. I couldn't wheel it round my house or get it through any of my interior doorways which was somewhat problematic.

I don't really walk and would have been using it in the Trafford Centre and Manchester Arndale only . I just felt it was too big for shopping with my normal ease and pleasure. DS1 is nearly three so I don't really need a double. I have the P&T for shopping only and have a cameleon for pleasure.

swottybetty · 09/12/2009 21:48

diva - when you say buggy board and toddler seat, what do you mean by toddler seat? and why did you hate it? just the hassle of a buggy board?

sry for hijak....

EldonAve · 09/12/2009 21:49

I know the MB is a bit wider than the P&T but not sure how much in RL

Mothercare say the MB is 71cm vs the P&T 58cm - however my P&T is actually 61cm wide

thisisyesterday - does yours have the adjustable handle?

Wheelybug · 09/12/2009 21:56

DC3?????????????? DC3 ?????????????

How have I missed this (or have you kept it very very quiet ??).

Great news .

Wheelybug · 09/12/2009 21:57

By the way, have no idea about MB. But get it if you want it.

weaselbudge · 09/12/2009 21:57

Hmm - never heard of a Stroll-air before - looks good although I'm thinking of getting the easywalker sky duo because you can attach a car seat and looks quite suited to off-road. Haven't had any demos yet though (except p&t which ds already seemed too big for (at 12 months!))
I think the more pushchairs the merrier if you can afford it - although mountain buggies have such good resale value you can sell it on if you don't like it or only use it for a bit.

EldonAve · 09/12/2009 22:05

weaselbudge - alas DH is not a more the merrier bloke when it comes to pushchairs

Wheelybug - Thanks, I have been keeping it fairly quiet

mistlethrush · 09/12/2009 22:10

We only had a MB and loved it - great for one-handed use (dog lead in the other hand). Didn't worry with cot, even though we used from NB - just talked and sang quite a bit

thisisyesterday · 09/12/2009 22:14

no, mine doesn't have the adjustable handle

Washersaurus · 09/12/2009 22:24

Hmm not sure about MB, much prefer the P&T - but then that is all I can fit through my titchy doorway!

I just cannot believe a 12mo didn't fit the P&T btw - I still use mine for my 2.4yo and sometimes my 4yo still rides (usually in the back seat).

EldonAve · 09/12/2009 22:37

You are worrying me now about the width!

The P&T was a little cramped with the doubles seat at the front - not much headroom
but I agree it is fine once the double seat is on the back

DC1 thinks ours is broken - I had to take the back seat off to force him to walk to school

OP posts:
Washersaurus · 09/12/2009 22:48

Actually, now I recall how difficult it was to actually push the P&T with the double seat on the front - it was hard work stopping it from toppling sometimes. My arms were soooo toned!

DS1 was 2yo when DS2 was born and he fitted the seat on the front just fine, it can just be a pig to push. Was it an E3 or Sport, as there is definitely more room with the hood on the Sport, I compared the two.

I will be using it again when DC3(nearly typed DS out of habit) arrives though.

weaselbudge · 10/12/2009 11:48

Washersauraus - he just was too tall in the sport when the doubles seat was reclined so i worry he would never nap in it. I think I'm going to get a duowalker/MB/nipper as he will only be 15 months when dd1 is born and then maybe get a p&t when he's a bit older as I hear it is more useful for two toddlers rather than a toddler and newborn. (sorry for hijack!)

Washersaurus · 10/12/2009 12:11

I'm just hanging around in case there is something better I should know about for DS2 and DC3 to use when he/she arrives

Napping child always has front seat so can recline slightly, even if it means bigger one has to squeeze in the back!

EldonAve · 10/12/2009 12:22

Hijacks welcome

SuWoombOfImmaculateConception · 10/12/2009 13:04

My three year old fits in the sport fine with the seat on the front, he kind of rests his head on the hood. It is a bugger to push though and that is round the Trafford Centre, god knows what it is like on rough terrain. When DS2 is old enough to sit in the back seatt which will be in the next couple of months, it might be better. I did really like the cocoon though, I found it a very good system for newborn and toddler but don't heart it like my gorgeous cam

EldonAve · 10/12/2009 16:37

DH seems to be weakening so I may get one!

weddingcake · 10/12/2009 22:57

Easy Walker Sky Duo is great!

EldonAve · 12/12/2009 07:47

Thanks, I only need a single though
