I've seen a car seat that clips straight onto a frame - what make is it?

I've seen people lift a frame straight out of the boot, unfold it one handed and then clip the car seat directly onto the frame.

What brand is it?

It could be anything.. more details please?

MortifiedAdams · 14/08/2013 10:31

Lots of pushchairs do this. Anymore info?

BabyStone · 14/08/2013 10:35

My friends is like this, hers is by Silver Cross. The buggy part (for when baby is big enough) is a completely different part I think

MrsGSR · 14/08/2013 10:38

Jane travel systems don't need adapters to attach the car seat, is that what your mean? I think there are a couple of makes but Janes the only one I remember.

Loupee · 14/08/2013 11:16

My Uppababy vista does this, if you fold it down with the adapters still attached. So many travel systems are similar in that way.

Tiggywunkle · 14/08/2013 22:54

There are all sorts - Maxi Cosi, Jane, Kiddy, Silvercross, Britax etc etc. I would head for a decent independent pram shop and have a good play! Britax however dont need adaptors (if you buy the right seat and compatible pushchair).

LazyMonkeyButler · 14/08/2013 22:57

Most travel systems do what you describe Grin.

My friend had an iCandy (Apple I think), which you used with a Maxi-Cosi car seat. Could that be it?

poocatcherchampion · 15/08/2013 22:18

oyster does

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 15/08/2013 22:22

You're looking for a 'travel system'.There are loads of different kinds.

rachyconks · 15/08/2013 22:22

My quinny does too. In fact, it's probably easier to name pushchairs that don't have the car seat function than those that do!

christilass · 16/08/2013 09:47

I think it will be the Jane you have seen as no adapters are required .
I have the Jane Trider and the Jane Slalom both fabby pram systems so easy ti use no faffing about

trixymalixy · 16/08/2013 09:50

I have a micralite that you can clip a maxi cosi into. It does need adapters, but we hit left them on the whole time.

Most travel systems will do this.

FrussoHathorAKADaisythecow · 17/08/2013 15:37

My britax(s) do this.

FriendlyElephant · 17/08/2013 16:20

Mine is a Graco and does this, no adaptors or anything, the car seat just clicks into place and there's a handle thing on the back that you pull to remove it

CaptainCapybara · 17/08/2013 19:06

As everyone has already said there are lots of these systems around, but if the baby will be in it for a while you will need a carrycot instead of the carseat as it's not recommended to keep them in it for more than a couple of hours due to spinal position, small babies need to lie flat.

christilass · 18/08/2013 20:03

Re what Captain above is saying ...

The reason i went for the Jane system was because they have a lie flat Transporter / carry cot ... which was invaluable .
i regularly travel from Wales to Scotland which takes 5 hours .... and its fab .. feed my baby into the lie flat transporter...and away we go .

trixymalixy · 18/08/2013 21:14

I thought those lie flat carseats had terrible safety reviews from Which?

ImFineThankYou · 18/08/2013 21:28

I've had a couple of mamas and papas that did this. In pretty sure most travel systems will do something similar?

ClaraOswald · 18/08/2013 21:28

Loads of pushchairs do it.

Smartiepants79 · 18/08/2013 21:34

My maxi cosi fit onto the frame of my babystyle oyster using special adapters.

MrsGSR · 18/08/2013 22:15

trixy the Jane transporter lie flat car seat is one of a few that Which have rated highly for safety. It falls just short of a best buy, but partially because it's slightly trickier to use than a rear facing seat.

MrsGSR · 18/08/2013 22:22

Quote from the which review:

"Most of the seats and carry-cots designed to carry babies lying down that we've previously assessed have been very tricky to install. And they have usually been found wanting, with major weaknesses in a front crash, side crash or both. However this car seat offers impressive five-star side crash protection and four star front crash protection... The crash protection offered by the Jané Transporter is very good and while it is complicated to install, the design is well thought through and the instructions are fairly clear."

We're considering buying one as we often do long car journeys so I've done lots of research!

trixymalixy · 18/08/2013 22:26

Wish the lie flat car seats had been safe when my two were little, I hated seeing them scrunched up in the maxi cosi!

Glittertwins · 18/08/2013 22:28

Our Jane seats clipped straight into the frame single handed 5 years ago.
