So, this is my criteria:

-Max £500 preferably including maxi cosi cabriofix but not essential

-Rear and forward facing

-Able to have a buggy board for dd

-Easy to steer/put up/put down. I have a type of muscular dystrophy so am pretty weak and get painful wrists

-Doesn't matter how compact it is as long as it fits in a normal boot, never use public transport etc

I think that's it! Any suggestions gratefully received :)

For a bargain that I think does all that the baby jogger city mini, bout 215, then cocoon insert for newborn bout 60, then maxi cosi 100 so well under budget?
I bought it as my travel buggy and use it way more than my v expensive travel system...
Light weight, easy to steer, 1 Hand fold and easy to open too, wheels pop off should you need them too and huge canopy for rain/ sun!
Or if you did want traditional travel system oyster?

SpottyTeacakes · 05/06/2012 17:12

That sounds great I'll have a look at that when I'm on the laptop. I'm not particularly fussed on a travel system tbh. I have a friend who had the Oyster and she liked it until her dc got to about a year and she said it didn't really support him enough? Might have a look at that too though, thank you Smile

Hmm not sure the baby jogger city mini goes rear facing?

When do you need it by, look for the baby jogger versa. That should suit most of your requirements.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/06/2012 18:23

Not for ages Blush thanks, I'll look at that

TsarinaTribbleVonTipsyPants · 05/06/2012 18:34

Actually I think a versa will be spot on for you. It's cheap and is a one movement fold (seriously my life hasn't been the same since I discovered my city mini, the versa will be the same).

SpottyTeacakes · 05/06/2012 19:09

I think you might be right! Will have to keep an eye out for when it comes out and hope that somewhere near me will stock it so I can go and have a look

I've seen a Versa in RL, looks fab and fits your criteria but it is heavier than you'd expect. Not to push (I don't think, that was hard to tell in the context we saw it) but it was heavier to lift than the City Mini definitely. In the main though I doubt you'd go far wrong with it really though. The Easywalker June is similar product but over the £500 mark, similar to the Vista price from memory and you don't get a carrycot (should you need one) for that.
Hmmm what else.. I tried a Jane Muum recently, that seemed really quite good for £250, faces both ways, lie flat seat, folds with the seat on both ways etc. Light to lift and push. Couldn't vouch for longevity however as it's very new and I returned it because I am firmly in doubles territory at the moment so wouldn't have gotten the use out of it.
Have you ruled out a lightly used Vista?

SpottyTeacakes · 05/06/2012 19:53

Thanks, that's really helpful. Heavy to lift isn't so much a problem as it would just be putting it in the boot etc...

I would happily go second hand, not sure where to look really. eBay is never very good for me for this sort of thing as we're so rural everything is really far away!

Wondering about Oyster or Maxi Cosi Elea but not sure if you can get buggy boards Confused

TheDetective · 05/06/2012 20:26

We are considering this one - not in shops yet, but once it is and we have tried it out - we will get it!

Cosatto Giggle

It seems to meet all your requirements except the maxi cosi car seat part. Although I suspect you could get the adapters for it. We are getting the pushchair and car seat, and with everything else included (carry cot, cosy toes, changing bag, raincover) it comes to £350.

BellaOfTheBalls · 05/06/2012 20:29

There is a specific Oyster buggy board available on their website. It's an official one so doesn't void the warranty the way a Lascal or similar would. Smile

Incidentally if you're anywhere near Manchester check out Lesters Nursery World. I got the full Babystyle Oyster system with buggy board, Cabriofix & adapters for less than £450.

Ihateparties · 05/06/2012 21:41

The Oyster folds with the board on too apparently, which sounds like a great feature!

Ihateparties · 05/06/2012 21:43

Also I noticed a used Vista on ebay earlier one with postage circa £375 ( can't remember the details but it would be easily found).

Tiggywunkle · 06/06/2012 01:57

Have a look at the Mutsy Evo. It's like the Oyster is some respects but the seating positions are better (theres an extra setting which gives it an upright and lie flat). It's light and can be folded in one or two pieces. It takes a buggy board and I think would be great as the child would be inside the handlebar so there is no stooping or twisting needed. It parent and outward faces and all round is fab value for money. I agree with ihateparties about the Versa, and also the June being heavy to lift unless you split them into two parts. Both are fab pushchairs though.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/06/2012 07:35

Oh I like the Mutsy Evo, you've got me wondering about the Oyster now too! I wish I lived somewhere where I could go and see all of these, does anyone know anywhere near Sussex/Surrey/Hants? I feel a spreadsheet coming on!

I would enquire if you want a heavy stroller I have a vista and loved it when is was with the carrycot and the car seat. I am now looking at the oyster and Evo but my head says a baby jogger is lighter and better long term. Dam I am seduced by shiny chrome frames.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/06/2012 05:40

Well I think I've decided either the evo or new jogger, just got to wait for it to come out and see how much it is now! Hopefully John Lewis will stock it so I can have a look Smile

You can also look at the Uppababy Cruz, looks like a lot the Vista but slimmer and cheaper, no carry cot though.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 08/06/2012 11:14

The Uppababy Cruz doesnt come with a carrycot included but it can be purchased (only available in black though). I have had a play with it at a baby show and it looks really good. Like the vista's little sister! here it is

At the moment its a contender on my list!

HappyJoyful · 08/06/2012 11:24

helping friend out as she's heavily pregnant with 2nd baby.. already has a 3 year old.

What's the best double / tandem ?

She wants baby to lie flat and obviously 3 year old wouldn't be in it all the time.. 3 year old is small.. needs it to be stored in boot of car (new ford fiesta) and just use on day out's etc so not needed for everyday use.

I've looked at review's of maclaren twin techno and cossato duet lite tandem neither one appear's conclusively better imo ? not sure needs / usage justifies anything as expensive as a phil and teds..

HappyJoyful · 08/06/2012 11:25

opps apologies posted in wrong place re above!

SpottyTeacakes · 08/06/2012 12:53

Oh I do like the Cruz! It's definitely at the top end of my budget though.

OP posts:
Hpbp · 08/06/2012 13:00

The Cruz should be around £375 if not less. it is one of my favourites with the BJ versa. i am struggling to wait and play with the versa before making my final decision, but i do like the cruz a lot.....

SpottyTeacakes · 08/06/2012 19:38

How much do you think the Versa will be?
