Hi all,

Can anyone help? With my DS I ha a Loola.. Needed something for everyday use, hated it and went through several buggies thereafter.. Pop, Luna, ICandy apple, zia...
Anyway I'm FINALLY pg with DC2, and am
Now a driver yay! Only downside is my boot is tiny! Its a Hyundai i10.

Can anyone please advise me of a travel system which folds small? Preferably two piece? I have so far looked at nania beebop, oyster, mychild mezzo and pinto, an obaby zezu... I like all of these but don't know how small they will fold... It must be suitable from birth, and not look ugly vain!, I'm unsure of pump tyres too... Ideally both pieces would fit in my boot but I'm not wholly against a piece here and there (within reason).

No real price limit but I prefer cheaper purely as I chop and change, although quality is important and would pay more for it! I have heard mixed things about the bugaboo bee....

Thanks ladies

I Googled the boot so that I could see. I think you could get a good number of pushchairs in there - a carrycot and chassis may be more of a tight squeeze but thats only the first 6 months.
My favourite singles are the iCandy Cherry and Peach, the Mutsy Evo, the Babystyle Oyster, the Baby Joggers - any of them! But I would consider a Versa and also an Easywalker June. The MyChild Pinto is very good but I am not sure how well it would fit in. I also like the Bugaboo Cameleon. I prefer hard wheels for non worrying, but air tyres are good for off road. The Baby Jogger "forever air" tyres are gel or foam filled.

Thanks tiggy, bit of a non urgent enquiry but wasted a fortune last time! I like the styling of the cam and as far as I can see the beebop is just a slightly heavier cheaper version but don't think it will fit! I will look into the ones suggested and am glad the oyster will fit, love it's funky colours Grin

We had a bjcm and it folds very small in our boot. It's also a fabby buggy for unfolding, stairs and pushing. You can use it from birth if you don't have room for yhe carrycot in the car, or put a soft, foldable carrycot in it.

BBisTitanium · 10/05/2012 17:36

I like the idea of bjcm, but do they parent face? Should of given clearer idea in OP, basically i am hoping to find something that fits in my boot, i don't mind if a piece has to go in a foot well if its the right buggy! But it does need a reasonable basket, to parent face, roomy, id prefer it to be suitable from birth but am easy as to whether thats with a carry cot or without, decent raincover, decent suspension, prefer one handle (as have to hold toddlers hand) and height suitable for 5"8 to 6"3... Its a long wish list i know! At least i know what bag im getting hahah!! Grin

Tiggywunkle · 10/05/2012 19:21

Honestly look at a Versa and stop looking! It's a mix of the BJCM with the City Select so that it parent faces with a small, easy one handed fold. That or the Easywalker June :) Two almost perfect pushchairs (I would say perfect but until they arrive I won't!) but what I have seen so far of both is awesome! Both I am almost certain will fit in your boot. The June goes in a Mini boot and the Versa is pretty neat.

BBisTitanium · 10/05/2012 19:30

I do like those but not to a degree to justify the price tags.. Although i suppose that may change with a play, they just seem
A bit clunky looking and dull..Blush i like the look of the oyster so far, bjcm look a bit low too? Ideally id like to keep the costs low, rather than brands are there anythings i should definitely avoid? Or any buggy/ brand to avoid! The zezu seems v cheap so im guessing its huge and there is a catch in quality or something?!

Hmmm what about something like a Jane Solo reverse, they can be picked up quite cheaply (circa £200-£250 for a new one), have a single handle but fold umbrella style but not long, more sort of rectangular and chunky, which might fit in your boot (haven't got dimensions to hand). Or perhaps the new Jane Muum, which has a lie flat seat and folds with the seat on facing both directions. Again not sure re your boot but worth a look.

The Njoy/petite star bubble is a parent facing umbrella stroller, if it's not too long that might be good. Not one handle though :-/

As Tiggy said Mutsy Evo, Oyster, Pinto.

As a fellow follower of the cheap, Hauck do some parent facers, hear varying opinions on the quality of their stuff. Kiddicare have some cheap ones, Imax etc.

Will keep thinking, there are loads!

BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 06:58

Thanks sorry to be a pain so far i like the oyster and i like the beebop, the whole beebop inc carseat comes in at £300 so definitely going to at least test it as its so like the cam!

My boot fits my petite star zia inarm but isnt long enough for anormal
Umbrella fold and isnt tall or wide enough with parcel shelf for my beloved luna so she went! I don't mind taking parcel shelf out of car to fit buggy in. I am thinking now I should of thought a bit more carefully when buying the car haha! Grin

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 11/05/2012 14:37

I wouldn't get a Beebop personally. They look cheaply constructed to me and I'm not convinced it'll last all that long. The resale is next to non-existant which may be worth considering. Also, the carseat isn't very safe. Yes, it has passed UK saftey testing, but our carseat saftey standards are actually quite poor and lots on the market here don't pass elsewhere.

Anothe one worth a look is a Brio Go.

BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 15:04

Ahh i didnt know that! Its the styling i like of that, but if it is cheap and nasty i will stay clear. Looks wise out of those suggested i do like the oyster, has anyone had any bad experiences with this? I wouldnt necessarily buy a carseat specifically as we have a from
Birth britax and i have a friend who will lend me her carrysized carseat (we refer to them in our house as buckets!)

Does anyone know much about the cosatto cabi? I also like the look of the joolz? Are any of the mothercare own brands any good? I am also concerned a bit with aftersale care as have heard icandy can be a bit devisive? Had awful problems with mothercare though so was put of of them... I can get discount in babies are us.. Ideally i would like to get the whole package (pushchair and carrycot , not carseat or bag) for £400, am i being unrealistic? I have heard startlingly different reviews of the britax b smart, im
Aware it doesnt fold small!
Ive also hear mixed news on the graco symbio however my inner snobbery brand perception puts me off a bit (and again large fold)

Im well aware something will have to give - price, capability or how it fits into the car, im just unsure as to which! Grin

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 11/05/2012 15:18

I've got a Joolz Day and I love it but I don't know if it'll fit in your boot. I've only ever put it in my sister's massive boot and my Mum's small boot that's always full of random stuff she doesn't need and it's always a tight squeeze.

I have no experience and don't know much about the Cabi or most Mothercare ones. But, I do see them for sale quite a lot despite being quite new so that can't be a good sign. I have two friends with a Mothercare Spin and I wouldn't steer well clear. They're just rubbish and flimsy. The back wheels on one were really splayed after just 10 months of use. Shock I also don't think the B-Smart will fit as it's about the same size as the Joolz, but the Joolz is much nicer. Wink

Going back to your OP, the Pinto is supposed to be really good so is probably worth a bit of research. I don't know how big it is but the measurements are likely to be on www.bestbuggy.co.uk.

If you like the look of the Beebop, then you might like the Jane Hello Nurse (sometimes just referred to as a Hello Nurse, Jane Nurse or Jane Hello). It folds up into a cube sort of shape but may fit in your boot in two pieces.

BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 17:37

Hypatia i could snog you! I love that! And it looks quite cheap if im reading that right! I really like that, and it looks like it would fit in my car too! Only questions remaining are: have you had it how does it handle? And pump tyres- how likely is a puncture? Slime? Grin

OP posts:
BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 18:13

And is the pushchair suitable from birth or would i need the capazo? Im a little in love! Just need to find somewhere to play! Grin

OP posts:
HalleLouja · 11/05/2012 20:33

Phil and Teds smart might do the trick. I quite like mine. You have to buy the verso kit and the peanut though.

BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 21:01

Just googled not my cup of tea, jane is still winning, at least until someone tells me a horror story or that o cant play with one in the uk!! Grin

OP posts:
Ihateparties · 11/05/2012 22:03

The Jane Muum is very similar looking to the Nurse Hello but with a lie flat seat and folds all in one piece with the seat facing either way. I'm pretty sure you'd need to pop at least one wheel off, maybe both but I'm guessing it would fit in your boot. Are you defo buying new? If not Bug Gecko? V nice push, v reasonable second hand

BBisTitanium · 12/05/2012 09:11

Is the muum the three wheeled one? I will be having new yes as dp and I have agrees that I can have whatever i want cost wise but only one, as with DS i went through 9 and drove him mad haha! I prefer the peach icandy to the gecko, but realistically i still prefer the jane to both! I would buy the lie flat carry cot my concerns are the build quality with the price being so low, and punctures?

I like the sola quite alot the colours are lovely, and if i remove my parcel shelf i think it would fit in the boot, so am
Widening my search to stuff that would fit this way.

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 12/05/2012 11:06

No, the Muum is the new four wheeled one.
The Sola really isn't a good pushchair. It's long, the fold is large, the recline isn't good, it's basic. There are far better pushchairs out there.

Ihateparties · 12/05/2012 13:32

Having had a good play with it now I haven't seen anything on the Muum that sets alarm bells ringing quality wise. I am returning it because I really need a double (really really, 3mth old and 2y3mth old) so am waiting for the Twone to come out. The seat is really nice and big. To note it says the seat is suitable from six months but I'm not totally sure why as it lies as flat as lots of from birth things, bee, umbrella folds etc. I would have used it from birth with a footmuff quite happily, there are of course carrycot options too within your £400 budget. It's worth a look in a shop if you can get to see one somewhere.

Trying to think of what I'd buy if was only going to get one... Lots of these reversibles are large compared to something more stroller-ish. The Oyster being the smallest (I think). I would love a from birth reversible option that's about 50cm wide.. never found it yet! The bee is the closest but it's a bit spindly for the terrain where I live. Well....I tell a lie, the I'coo plasma/Pii is 51cm wide, that has a reversible seat and is sturdier but weighs 19.1kg!

Narrowest, most compact reversible pram 55cm wide or under? Any ideas anyone?? The Easywalker June is probably too expensive!

BBisTitanium · 12/05/2012 17:44

Looked at the muum, looks nice and has solid tyres, loving the suggestions! Sad the sola is poo but it did look huuuge so no real loss...

With the nurse and the muum do any of the jane carseats/carrycots fit? I like the carseat that my friend had for twins, ad it sat up if that makes sense? Ie you clicked and it layed like a carrycot, then it also clicked up to a carseat shape?

This really is an education for me!

If money wasnt an issue what would the majority of you go with and why?

At the moment the nurse, muum and oyster are my front runners. To clarify id be looking to use the system until probably about a year when baby will go into my beloved zia Grin

OP posts:
BBisTitanium · 12/05/2012 17:46

Also other than the pitiful basket what do people think of the surf? Is it huge folded? It looks big!

OP posts:
BBisTitanium · 12/05/2012 18:03

Ive just looked at the rider too its quite nice although im still leaning towards the nurse hello, does anyone know if you can get it in slightly more "plain" colours? I like to buy a black buggy generally the colour it up with liners and buggy snuggles

OP posts:
Ihateparties · 12/05/2012 19:53

I dunno about totally plain but I'm sure there was a black plus another darker colour one. It's a while since I've seen one. What about this ?? Faces both ways, folds with seat on both ways, is very light and 194 Euros delivered to the UK which is about £160!

BBisTitanium · 12/05/2012 20:03

Its ok but i wouldn't buy one that i couldn't test and would be hesitant about importing.

Just been reading nurse reviews and you can currently only get it in the mixed blue and mixed brown... Hmm. Also a few very bad reviews. I like the rider but quite over priced, so leaning back towards the oyster again! Have a date with a friend to spend a whole day testing Smile but would like to have a few ideas in mind.

Icandy and bugaboo are obviously the front runners for resale value i just wonder about the cost... I suppose its a nice dilemma to have! Grin
