I am in the process of writing a blog post on this subject, and wondering if you'd like to share your own thoughts?

With regards to the pram you're using now..... if you could change ONE thing about it, what would it be & why?

I'll start.

I'm using a Graco Symbio B and if I would change the lack of storage. I'd either make the basket bigger, or even some pram clips to hold my shopping. It really would be perfect then.

What about you?

I got a business bloke kicked out of First Class and into another carriage where they could tell him off . He objected strongly at being "downgraded", but his laptop and mortified colleague were no cover for the fact he was having a loud sweary arguement with a mistress, and a unhappy one at that.

His colleague ad I did the only decent thing we could we ate his sandwiches.

When did you last travel first class on the train, Second Coming, when it didn't involve paying for a weekend upgrade for £15? I'd say you're the one who needs to get over yourself. Or at least get your head out of your selfish arse.

Everyone on the midweek train is on business. It costs £300 to go not even halfway across the country. I

f you're loaded and doing the journey with kids, I presume you have a nanny who could keep your children under control.

I quite agree with Honeydragon that there are arses everywhere. Again, I re-state my own point: it's called the quiet carriage for a reason.

I love that Malaysia Airlinnes has outlawed children from the upper deck this week.

I am totally in agreement with the bastard streety - such a good design in principle but such a pain in the arse in reality! Currently mostly using my Mothercare My4 - love it apart from the ridiculously poorly designed shopping basket. The only way to fit a bag of groceries in is to sit on the floor of the store and post them in the basket individually - male design surely?

Honeydragon · 12/04/2012 19:14

They should rebrand it as the Bastard Streety, save a whole lot of heartache that would. Promises so much in the early days and fails to deliver so you end up leaving the bastard.

And every time I see someone with one I want to run over and tell them I know how much they must be regretting it and give them the courage to abandon it and move on

I've got a micralite superlite and I love it. Really light and nippy but I wish it would fold a little smaller - it takes up half the boot in the car. And I wish you could fold it with the hood still attached rather than having to assemble/de-assesmble. It doesn't take long to do but its bugging.

headfairy · 12/04/2012 19:33

Phil and Teds sport, really hate the fact that when you've got a second child in the back you have pretty much no basket.

SkiBumMum · 12/04/2012 19:36

The brake mechanism on the P&T Vibe2. You knock it on accidentally practically giving kids whiplash.

I just realised the OP is intending to right a blog post on this. The section on 1st class train carriages might be a little, uh... odd.

Out of sheer boredom I have looked it up on national rail's website. 1st class does not equal quiet coach they are different things.

Also you can't take a surfboard on a train, but you can take ski's or golfclubs.

Honeydragon · 12/04/2012 19:58

What about a silver cross surf? Are they banned? Grin

moosemama · 12/04/2012 20:08

I have a BabyJogger City Classic and love everything about it, except the fact that the seat isn't reversible.

I had the carseat adaptor when dd was little and loved having her rear-facing. I was sad when she got too big for the carseat and had to go in the front-facing only seat.

I've travelled first class lots with children, and yes, I was their nanny. But I feel quite offended that when I decide to take our own children mid week first class, that I wouldn't have just as well behaved children enjoying the journey, asking curious questions about what they can see, and being suitably occupied. And believe me for a several hour train journey, I would book First Class! At least I know where I am sitting and I had a table for the children to draw and play at.

As for the original question, I think manufacturers can extend the lifespan of some pushchairs by making extendable footrests and multiple hood height settings. They need to put children in the seats and realise a Pushchair needs to last from birth to 3/4 with the child at any age looking comfortable - the Britax B-Agile and B-Dual and Oyster are three I can think of with seating issues. Plus I am on a single woman crusade to get a raincover stashed under every seat unit in the same way that Babystyle have their insect cover hidden. Or have a Velcro on pouch which doesn't need a degree in origami to get it back in again (not fun in the middle of a busy street with children desperate to keep going and you have nowhere else to stash a wet cover because the basket is full, it falls off the handle and drips on the children if left semi on!) I am fed up of unidentifiable raincovers (manufacturers could at least label them!) and never having a raincover when I need one or it filling the basket up when I need to shop!

I have a BJCM, it's almost perfect but I would like it to be a teeny bit narrower on the back wheels.

MotherGeek · 14/04/2012 20:44

I have to say, my small basket on the Symbio B seems like no problem at all in comparison with some of your issues!!
NoMoreRoom - OMG! Twins AND you're 28 weeks pregnant? WOW. Your twins & bump are the same age as my 2. (Sam will be 1 in June, baby 2 due the end of June). I am struggling to find a double, so god knows how you're managing to find a triple lol. xx
Skibummum - I want a Vibe V2 - is it really easy to knock the brake? EEK!

PS: WOW - calm down folks! Yes, some pram pushers are ignorant and/or rude, but so are the dozens of pedestrians who cut in front of prams then scowl when you hit their ankles. Jeez, if there were a pram lane, we'd use it. As there isn't we all have to share the pavements so it's give and take - surely? Everyone should say thank you when somebody lets them past, whether pushing a pram, wheelchair or simply swinging their golf umbrella and hurrying by, dripping rain water on everyone's heads.
And as for First class trains - Off topic much?! But now you mention it.... have you seen the chavs in standard? I wouldn't sit there, so why should my son have to? I work for myself, and just put in some earphones if there's a noisy child in the area!
Business class on planes is another matter - I'll let you off with that. I agree - adults only in there lol.

I have a Maclaren Quest which I adore, but i wish the transparent window was on the hood, not lower down where I can't actually see into when I'm pushing.

melliebobs · 16/04/2012 14:07

An instruction manual on how the hell ur supposed to fold the rain cover back so it doesn't take up all the basket!

milk · 21/04/2012 15:18

I want my Mother Spin to be a double Grin
