im so jealous of you all with your phil and teds and bugaboos etc!

i have a second hand mothercare xtreme which is held together with garden wire. DS is 19 months old and he isnt walking yet so i know i need another years worth of pushchair but i dont know what one to buy and im poor!

i was hoping to get him a new one, like brand new. but i bidded for a graco citi on ebay then read reviews saying it was pooooop so bailed on buying it (not good i know)

but i want a 3 wheeler with decent suspension coz the one i have now has lovely air filled tyres and it soo nice to push, its just broke. and it seems silly buying one just the same.

so what do it do? hold up a pram shop?

i have a frog, my 3yo TALL dd is fine in it still half an inch before she hits the hood! Muras are small seats imo!

i LOVE my frog, got it 3rd or maybe 10th hand by swapping my old buggys upto it. its old but excellent!

WelshCat · 08/04/2012 20:49

I like luna but they arent for everyone. My child mezzo and pinto are nice and. Heap travel systems as is the nania beebop ( looks just like a bugaboo) depends what you are looking for and your budget. Currently using a zia+ and i love it

5inthebed · 08/04/2012 20:51

I found the Nipper 360 was a great three wheeler for a toddler.

And as they've brought a newer version out (Nipper 360 V2), the older ones sell for a bit less but are just as good (I prefer the older version).

There are a few that might go cheap on Ebay here here here.

oreocrumbs · 08/04/2012 20:52

Just had a quick look and there are a few mura's on ebay. The postage is a bit expensive but you could email the seller and ask if you could arrange your own collection or courrier. It can't hurt to ask [busmile]

mosschops30 · 08/04/2012 20:53

Sold my quinny on gumtree for £40
Sold a whole petite star travel system on gumtree for £25

Good luck, you will find a bargain, be cheeky, go in low Smile

I don't like using the sniper bid things, I've never used one and I think they're unfair on other users. eBay doesn't support people using them either even tho they're powerless to stop them being used. No offence but I think it takes out half the fun!!! And let's face it, would you pay a sniper to go and queue for the next sale for you at stupid o clock or queue to buy concert tickets etc etc??? AngryWink

Also a good eBay seller will allow you to go and view an item before you commit to buying it, but I guess that depends on locality etc. I had 5 different people come to look at my Britax ultra before it sold, and I was quite fair in that I listed it as an auction with a buy it now price. The 5th couple liked it and bought it straight away, took it home with them there and then, only for couple no2 to then call and sat they wanted it and were coming to fetch it.... First come first served I'm afraid but I was happy enough for potential buyers to come and have a look!!!

Finally, I was so happy to get my new system for £51, and believe me, I placed a bid significantly higher than that (x5 in fact) as that was what I was prepared to pay - it really is the luck of the draw with eBay!

I did feel bad about the price I got it for until I turned up at their house (country estate) to collect it - they were obviously LOADED!!!! Grin

WelshCat · 08/04/2012 20:55

in my experience people are afraid to courier things to you. some of the muras with the £30 courier price is madness, it costs like £11 to send a pushchair!

seems like i just gotts focus on some auctions and not be so slack if i wanna win it!

also HypatiaTheProcrastinator here goes (im very fussy..)

i want a bar handle, not two separate ones, it needs to have min handle height of about 104cm coz im 5'11, i never fold it up but i'd rather a smaller one than the detour coz its just kept in my kitchen, i rarely take a bus coz i hate them, and if i do and theres not room for me to go on with the buggy unfolded i just wait for the next one, it doesnt really need to fit in a car coz i dont have one, and i make everyone else put their seats down for me! it just needs to be sturdy enough for a toddler and pref have decent suspension and i like 3 wheels.

i have just seen a cosatto cabi which looks nice on gumtree, these any good?

I would have started that post with: "I'm not fussy but............"

Sooz34 · 08/04/2012 21:08

Just to add re the Mura - we have the three wheel version and I love it... However, the cons I have found are:
Big/heavy to fold up/put in car etc (glad never had to tackle a bus)
Wide wheelbase so occasionally get stuck in narrow shops
Size of seat was always fine but I did find that as DS got heavier it was harder to manoeuvre - finally gave up when he hit about 27m and was maybe 2.5 stone?
Not selling as expecting DC 2 and fully anticipating getting another two years use out of it [busmile]

WelshCat · 08/04/2012 21:11

hehe babylon1 yeah half my problem lies in my fussiness...

and im confused about the mura now! i dont really care about foldability or weight as my current one is extremely heavy but i like the workout of pushing it up hills! as long as DS wont be squished in it..

Haven't got time to read whole thread so Apologise if it's already been said but what about the local paper/ advertiser etc or notice boards in super markets and even shop windows . :)

WelshCat · 08/04/2012 21:12

AllthatshewantsisanotherBBaby the my child pinto and mezzo are lush! none second hand that i can find though and i dont really wanna spend too much

oreocrumbs · 08/04/2012 21:17

Have you got time to take your LO to a shop and try out a few? Then you can make a better judgement!

Even if you want an older model, the new version will be very similar - especially in size so you will get a fair idea!

WelshCat · 08/04/2012 21:19

i dont really know of any shops that sell enough of a varied array of them. but i guess thats a good idea!

oreocrumbs · 08/04/2012 21:31

You could try mothercare - they only keep the most popular ones in the store but if you have a big branch near by then they have a lot. There are some good big independant stores too but you would have to google for your area.

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 08/04/2012 21:49

Babylon, I'm really genuinely confused and suprised that you think snipers are unfair and shouldn't be used. [buconfused] They're no different to bidding at the last second yourself, you just don't have to think about it while you're doing other things. If I had to pay for it then I wouldn't use them as I'm a complete cheapskate. [buwink] I don't think they're unfair as I put in what I'm prepared to pay, as does everyone else, the highest bid wins. What's unfair about that?

Welsh, you are significantly narrowing your options if you really want 3 wheels and parent facing as there just aren't that many options.

I've heard very mixed things about the Cosatto Cabi/Mobi, but I do think they look nice with the shiny chassis.
The Vigour 3/3+ is supposed to be lovely to push, has an adjustable handlebar, high seat and are cheap!
The Petite Star Kurvi is apparently nice to push and can be cheap.
The Bugaboo Frog/Gecko handle will be far too low for you at your height.
A Mamas and Papas Joolz or updated Joolz Day can be found cheaply and are perfect for tall pushers. They have massive air wheels and mine (the Day) is amazingly light to push. I love it! [bugrin]

I'm struggling to think straight to come up with more suggestions, sorry!

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 08/04/2012 21:51

The Brio Sing would be good too if you can find a cheap one.

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 08/04/2012 22:01

Bebecar IpOp, Norton Pure, Concorde Neo, BabyStyle Oyster and iCandy Apple are all worth a look too.

rathlin · 08/04/2012 22:07

My 600 quid 18 mth old icandy apple went for 200 on ebay.....they gt a bargain! My frst pram was an 8 wk old silver cross pram for 150. Sold it after 6 mths for same price. You will get a bargain on ebay. People just want rid of them once finished using them.
