Anyone know what a Mutsy Urban Rider is like??? One locally for sale on Preloved and looks like it would work in the snow.

Like misdee says, the urban rider is v v heavy
Non-swivel wheels but you can buy swivels which are a bit rubbish to be honest
Well built and solid though and v comfy for baby but so so heavy and cumbersome

sasamaxx · 05/11/2011 16:08

And yes it works v well in snow but no better than a mountain buggy imo

pramsgalore · 05/11/2011 16:12

lol, they would go over anything, yes both tiggy and me, i think i read monkeys as well, have had one, they take some getting used to steering them as all 4 wheels steer, but at a flick of a pedal only the, now can not remember if just the front or rear steer Hmm, but they are super easy to push, once you get the hang of it, the basket is rubbish but you can get a larger shopping basket for them that attaches to the back which looks huge and you could put the funseat onto it.

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 16:14

It's heavy but lots of fun! I loved driving the Urban Rider straight at kerbs and it would go up and over them head on even with two on. But it definitely needs front swivel wheels which you can't use on the Duo. The basket is a bit shallow too. I know you don't want a Duo, but the Duo seats are just covered boards with no padding!

suzie38 · 05/11/2011 16:14

I'm not a fan of 3 wheelers...I need something i can feel comfortable taking on a bus...I have a Bumbleride Indie, i'm currently selling because i feel it's too long for a bus.

OP posts:
pramsgalore · 05/11/2011 16:16

oh and they are huge, but i used one for a while in twin mode

suzie38 · 05/11/2011 16:16

I used to rear steer my Frog on quite a few occasions plus the Graco Flip it so i'm ok with that...How's the handle height though??? From looking at the official site, it goes high but i need to know how low...Have asked the sellers to measure for me.

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 16:17

The rear steer but even with the wheels locked there's just enough give in them to allow you to change direction eg to move to one side with warning, or to walk to a dropped kerb (usually slightly round a corner). For more serious cornering you need to use the wheels. But the steering circle is massive! I got totally stuck in one shop and had to drag it out!! I liked deciding when to flick the steering on and off though. It was a pushchair you had to think about o drive and that made it fun!

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 16:19

It's not that huge in Duo mode - in fact it's positively small for a tandem. It's one reason I liked it, that and it was mega bouncy!

pramsgalore · 05/11/2011 16:19

the qutro tiggy has looks good, would that go through snow

pramsgalore · 05/11/2011 16:20

no its not huge for duo mode, but as a single its big

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 16:21

It's nothing like the Chameleon rear steer. That was responsive with small movements. You can't compare the two! I seriously could not turn it round in our pretty big chemists! The turning circle is several metres I would think!

sasamaxx · 05/11/2011 16:22

The handle goes down v low but it's much harder to steer like that - you need some height to maneouvere it as it's v tricky

pramsgalore · 05/11/2011 16:23

i thought the pedal only locked one set of wheels, i owned one a few years ago now, although i only locked when i was in shops and needed to reverse, i could not reverse it unless i locked the wheels i just got all Confused to which way to turn Grin

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 16:23

I thought I was maybe exaggerating there but no, it's 2.38 metres for the turning circle!

suzie38 · 05/11/2011 16:24

There's one on eBay that's not too far away but it's auction Sad and i find pushchair auctions stressful...That one comes with a set of swivel wheels as well...Is the frame quite bouncy??? They look like they are...Plus anyone know about handle height??? There's a picture of one folded with the handle all the way down, can you push it that way???

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 16:25

The pedal locks the rear wheels. The front ones are fixed straight.

pramsgalore · 05/11/2011 16:27

yes its bouncy, you fold it like the vista, kind of does, ie pushing the handle in, i could never get the nak, but dp did it everytime, i beleive the handle was low, but don't know how low

pramsgalore · 05/11/2011 16:31

i always thought they all turned, but then it is a few years since i owned one, my friend pushed it for me and she almost went into the road, she was all over the place with it, i got used to it and found it easy apart from reversing

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 16:31

I can't remember re the handle but I am sure in theBB photos that the handle is at it's highest. In one photo you can see the numbers 1,2,3 down the handlebar which I believe are the height settings. But I would never want to try and lug it onto a bus which is what Ai think you want to do. There's no way you could steer it and it would be a lead weight to pull. Walking / off road it would be great. Buses, shops, tight spaces, I wouldn't even consider it.

suzie38 · 05/11/2011 16:32

Handle height - lowest 92 cm
Handle height - highest 114 cm
That's the heights according to an eBay listing...Seems like it would do the job if i get some swivel wheels for it.

pramsgalore · 05/11/2011 16:33

i always wanted the basket and funseat but when i owned one the basket was not in the uk and the funseat was very hard to get hold of Sad i do remember it taking me ages to work out the back seat for a newborn

suzie38 · 05/11/2011 16:34

Only be on the bus in snowy weather...I'd use my Flyer, Flite or Nuna on buses on other occasions, not that i catch buses very often.

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 16:34

Is this your snow pushchair though? I doubt the swivel wheels would work in snow? Or am I confused?
