Just as i say - love it or hate it? Tell me all about it...

i'm trying to decide on a pushchair that goes from birth, will fold into a car boot and will be sturdy as i live in the countryside. (Not planning to 'off road', just lanes + big puddles)

I'm drawn to Bugaboo - but not sold yet. So pricey. But worth it??? Opinions on any make of chair from you lovely ladies would be great Grin

Misty I couldn't find a video for the single, but there's one here for the twin pram. All the single parts fit onto the twin version in the same way so it shows you how to swap everything round, collapse it etc.

We had a really small boot so most sturdy prams were ruled out because they wouldn't fit in the boot. We got the city elite in by taking off one wheel (which is really easy to do.) We have a bigger car this time round so it won't be a problem. :)

DD slept in the carrycot instead of buying a moses basket. It was great when we went on holiday or visiting friends because the carrycot can be flattened so it easily went in the boot and DD had her normal bed whereever we went for the first few months.

Sorry I haven't been back sooner, the frame collapses easily and we lift off the seat part and put them on top of each other in the boot of our car (Im not sure if we are doing this right and haven't bothered to check)
I would say that it does take up quite a bit of space when collapsed so that is a bit of a negative (only negative that I have for it though).

I love, love, love my Petite Star Charisma! Its a proper sturdy three-wheeler. Big old air tyres, great styling and so easy to fold is un-real.
Also managed to pick it up with a carrycot and a car seat thrown in at no extra cost. I thought i was getting a three wheeler, and I ended up gettting a full travel system. Result!! :) one happy mummy.

You should take a look at the new range from Bebecar - fantastic quality and all pushchairs/prams have lie-flat from birth reversible seats.

I was dead set on a Bugaboo - went into Mothercare to get one and came out with their own brand Mothercare Xcursion Grin

I've found it great - relatively light, easy to fold, comes with a car seat, three recline settings and forward and backward facing. About half the price of the Bugaboo too.

Phil & Teds - cannot go wrong if you are going to have more than one child. The only thing it cannot do (and it does all you need extremely well) is go in a bus. Other than that, it is nearly perfect. Great resale price as well.

I love my B Smart 3 wheeler. Big wheels, big seat, massive hood (which zips open again when the sun's really low). The seat lies completely flat too which is a bonus as DD prefers to be lying down to sleep rather than propped up or in a bucket seat.

It has a really easy-access basket, although it's very low at the back so you have to load it methodically to make sure nothing falls out. And when it's very windy and there's not much in there, it can flip up and dump your stuff on the floor. Saying that, it's only happened to me when I've only had the raincover in the basket.

It will fold down in one piece, you don't have to take the seat off, but only when the seat is facing foward. When it's rear facing it doesn't do it right, besides it would make it massive. As taten said, it's really easy to unclip it and switch it round. Then you just fold it down. Because of the size of the wheels, I have to take one of to fit it in the boot of my Punto.

We picked this as an alternative to the Bugaboo Cameleon - we just couldn't justify spending that amount on a pushchair. I'm so glad we chose this though!

Hi, a linky for concord although it does show a slightly older model as the brake is now near the handle, not foot operated. It can also be collapsed without taking the seat off both forward and rear facing like

and

seems to be new!

If I had my time again I'd buy Baby Jogger City Select which converts from a one to a two seater if you have another, will let them face towards or away from you and good resale from look of things. Think I'm going to get one off ebay after trying out at john lewis
I have a maclaren xlr (good but not parent facing), a quinny buzz (irritatingly short straps and doesn't full recline for naps, plus never get around to pumping up tyres) and a britax vigour which I hate but mostly use.
I bought according to Which report and ended up with big clunky buggy. We avoided Stokke as looked difficult to fold, ignoring fact that we don't have a car and have folded buggy maybe a dozen times or so total.
I think parent facing is important if you'll be walking out a fair bit.
But I believe all buggies are a compromise, don't think the perfect one is out there (or if it is I've definitely missed it). We've also had some issues with follow up care from the retailer we bought from so would consider others' feedback on this. We got a good price from babybabyonline but wouldn't rate aftercare that highly
Good luck!

Bugaboo bee every time. see if you can find one on ebay if cost is an issue. Great from birth, ok with slightly rough terrain (you can lock the wheels to make it easier on gravel etc). Can face you or away from you. Folds up small, can put the maxi cosi car seat on it with adaptors. The cameleon has a couple of disadvantages: harder to fold and you have to take the seat or carry cot off first, also the seat is fixed at 90 deg to the back rest, so if you recline it your baby's knees are in the air, not a restful way to sleep! Also even more expensive. And the carry cot is nice, but a bit redundant once baby wants to look around more, about 3 months. Most of my friends have the cameleon and by the time their babies were 6 months old had bought a maclaren too. I'm still using the bee and DS is 13 months, with plenty of room for growth!

I loved my Chameleon but I liked my single iCandy Peach much more. But the Baby Jogger City Mini is fab as a cheaper option and if you have time to wait, the new 4 wheeled version out around July time looks even better.

DancingThroughLife · 09/04/2011 23:39

Sprinkles, does the Bee fold while it's rear facing? I've heard it can. I'm coveting one at the moment as I've seen the new summer fabrics [sucker] If it does, I'll be desperate to get my hands on one for taking out with us in my little boot. Otherwise I want a BJCM next, which doesn't do parent facing - all buggies are a compromise!

Akandra · 11/04/2011 09:17

I love my M&P Rubix. Its a full from birth system and the pram top doubles as a moses basket (I use the pushchair base downstairs and a moses basket stand upstairs). Its very light touch and fits into our Ford Fiesta without taking the wheels off (though we do have to unclip the parcel shelf). You can get the car seat adaptors for it and then buy yourself a Maxi Cosi car seat as the adaptors work for both M&P and MC carseats. Its sturdy enough to cope with a bit of rough ground and puddles. If your fussy I have read it gets scratched easily. It has a nice big shopping basket which isn't as accessible with the pram top as with the pushchair set up (I can still get bottles in there when I do the shopping, however).

It looks good and I felt it offered most of the features of a Quinny for less money. We specifically wanted front and rear facing, some cushioning for cobbles in town and a large shopping basket. Don't buy it (or any M&P pushchair) full price - wait for a sale offer. I got £80 off of mine.

sprinkles77 · 11/04/2011 14:33

Hi, sorry for being slow...the Bee folds fine while rear facing. I think this buggy is no compromise at all. And once you get the hang of it you can fold it with one hand (can't put it up with one hand). Basket is accessible whichever way it's facing. Massive hood keeps the sun off. Hood I think is machine washable. I just checked ebay and there are loads there cheaper than full RRP. If you get the old one (pre 2010) you can get one for less than £100.

eeyore2 · 11/04/2011 14:51

Love my iCandy Cherry. It's a good balance between the "all-singing all-dancing" and the light and practical. Great to push, one-handed if necessary (makes a huge difference if you can answer your phone and push at the same time). Nice proper hard carrycot, rear-facing seat, smart footmuff and relatively light. Only downside is that it doesn't fold down in a single piece.
