Best off road/dogwalking Pushchair (from birth)

Ok,

Please be gentle this is my first ever post! Confused

Our first baby is due in May, so I am trying to do as much research into pushchairs as humanly possible, only thing is I keep getting conflicting reviews etc, so thought I would as for some help!

I am trying to narrow down what peoples opinions are on the best buggy that is usable from birth ( I quite like the idea of having the option of adding a carrycot) that can cope with dog walking, I'm not planning on dragging it up mountains or anything, but I do want something that is rugged enough to cope with walking throught the woods & general off road doggie walking activity BUT obviosuly not being made of £££ it will have to be suitable for the shops too coz I can't afford 2!

So currently topping the list is the Baby Jogger Terrain (which I can't find ANYWHERE to look at in the flesh & is £££) or the iCandy Apple Jogger (gets v mixed reliablilty & customer service reviews)

So, have I completley overlooked something which you guys think is awesome??
Any feedback would be h-mazing, as I feel v lost & confused by everything baby related at the moment!

Cheers!

I would just say the I-candy apple is good off road. And we've just used it with front wheel fixed to great effect in the snow. It has full suspension and air filled tyres. You just need to be careful about the high centre of gravity when using with carseat.

The carry cot is a good size, and deep, it is compatible with the maxi-cosi cabriofix carseat which is really handy for shopping, and the normal seat can face either direction.

Also, it can be converted to a double should you need to.

I have a Baby Jogger Classic with carrycot and LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it.

Could never be doing with Elite or Summit as we're in London, but the classic is good enough to off-road in Yorkshire and Notts when we go visit family in rural parks / woodland. Will be testing it in America in a few months too - much rougher terrain and even going inside a cave Grin I have no qualms about it at all and am very confused as to the poster who said not good quality? Confused

I think it's fabulous. We bought ours secondhand off a friend and she's used it for a year - tyres still have tread and are in FAB condition, have never needed maintenance whatsoever and the rest of the pushchair is pristine.

Well Hi,
This is also my first post. I felt I had to reply as Im due 19th May and one of my dogs in question is a boxer. My husband has today been dragged round mothercare to test out some off roading buggies. ( My buggie will prob never go on a pavement!!)
I have been baffled to say the least by online travel systems? So thought we needed some proper advice as I def need a tough buggies but also have limited funds.
I found the mothercare my choice to be the best value. (although havent used it yet!!)
It has big wheels, three wheeler, front wheel locks for stability in mud, parent facing, nice cosy cot,( great for me as baby will be on yard when I work) and high quality car seat.
Mothercare also do ' Baby Plan' which means you can buy something at sale price but you dont finish paying for it until- latest ten days before due date. There is no interest etc they hold it in warehouse until you want it. This seems great taking into account the tax increase soon. Anyone can add money to your amount due just quoting ref no. You can also add other items like cots etc.
Anyway hope this is helpful. Good luck
The Britax b smart was also recommended.

Get a second hand Nipper. I have just dumped one after no-one on freecycle wanted it. It was fab off road and as we had 3 pushchairs I could trash it in mud and just leave it in the shed.

Now I have sold my first travel system have a small lightweight pushchair and bought a P&T tandem as I am expecting another baby in April. It's amazing how many pushchairs you can accumulate!!

Hi!!

Thanks so much for everyones advice!
I have decided to plump for the Summit, managed to find someone local (via mumsnet) who was kind enough to let me have a fiddle and it looks great! So light and easy to manouver and the folding mechansism is EASY perfect for a buggy-phobe like me!
Drdoolittle1000 Can't believe your also due 19th & have a boxer...does yours have an affinity for chasing wheels aswell?!
Also, got a Maxi cosi Cabriofix for a bargain price @ Halfords today with 4% cashback @ Quidco....go go go!!

Hi there, considering buying bj myself. but Im 5ft3 and handle is really high on it. Is it still going to be pleasure to push?
And also ... why none of off road push chairs have adjustable leg rest?
